On Sydney's actual birthday, January 20, we attempted a movie in the theater. She sat perfectly and ate her popcorn all through the 25 minutes of previews, and then about 10 minutes in to the movie she got down and said "I be right back" which began a 20 minute game of taking her out, coming back in, wrestling her down, and eventually, we gave up and went home. She was so sad and screamed "take me back in the theater!" all the way home. Maybe next year, sis.
We had both sets of Grandparents, the Hisermans, and Aunt Deb and Uncle Jim over for dinner and cake and presents, oh my. Initially, Sydney didn't quite understand the concept that she was receiving gifts, but she eventually really got in to it.
Have you ever seen anyone so excited about a gift before!?
This little chair scored my parents some major points in the grandchild department.
She sang happy birthday to herself along with the rest of us. She huffed and puffed, and took a few tries to blow out her two little candles.
Sydney really is a sweet girl. People often ask me if she is always as happy as she seems when we're out at the park or even grocery shopping. Most of the time she is, but she can throw a mean (and really sad) fit when she really wants something and she isn't getting her way. She loves to sing and dance, and must take her shoes and socks off as soon as she walks in the door. She doesn't ever eat a meal, she prefers to snack throughout the day. Sydney gives big hugs and kisses and always says "good morning, I wake up!" when I go in her room in the morning. She is speaking in full sentences and has the tiniest, sweetest little squeaky voice. She adores her sister and likes to do everything she does. She is possessive at times, but really does a good job sharing with her friends. She is loud and extremely clumsy. She is bright and often surprises me with the things she says or sings (I didn't realize she picked up on so many things already). She has a soft spot for the men in her life, and it is very evident when it comes to her Granddad and her Papa. She really loves her Uncle Kyle and since she got to spend so much time with him over Christmas, whenever we are having a family get together she always asks, "Kyle be there?" When I tell her no, she looks sad and says, "oh, we just miss him then." Sydney likes to be out doing things, and has on several occasions cried when we pulled up to our house after a day out saying "no! I no go home!" When we drop Scarlett off at school I stay for a little while and let Sydney play, when it is time to go she always shakes her head and says "no. I at school. You go." Bless her sweet heart. One day, babe. She is the queen procrastinator and puts off bedtime like you wouldn't believe. She will keep demanding snack after snack (our babysitter this last weekend actually texted and said "I have never seen a child eat so much in my entire life") until you finally say NO MORE. We have had bedtime routines that last 2 hours. Sydney is independent, hilarious, tender (if she gets in trouble she always says "you make me sad"), vivacious and just plain adorable. My favorite is that when she tells you she loves you, she says "I love you. SO much!". And we love you, Sydney, so very much. Happy birthday.
