“Before joining Agoda, I worked remotely at Motive as a Frontend Engineer, leading a team of four engineers on a frontend project. My responsibilities included planning, estimation, product updates, and demos. I was referred by a friend and wanted to join Agoda to push myself out of my comfort zone. The tech stack was new to me, and I wanted to learn how a large tech company operates while expanding my skills and exposure. I relocated to Bangkok with my wife in January 2023. Agoda made the process seamless by handling visas and hotel accommodations and answering all my questions. Settling into Agoda and Bangkok has been a positive experience. My team and manager welcomed me warmly and were supportive throughout my onboarding period, which helped me adjust to the workplace. In Bangkok, we chose to live in the On Nut area. It’s a peaceful and affordable area, a bit away from the city center but well connected with public transport. Many of my friends live nearby, so we have plenty of chances to socialize. Most of my friends are Agodans, but not necessarily from my team. The company offers many opportunities to meet people across departments and connect through social events or sports activities. For example, I am a regular member of the Agoda Badminton club, and we play every Saturday and Sunday, which has opened another opportunity to meet people. There are also other folks from Pakistan, and we sometimes get together to share a meal, or for another activity. For anyone considering relocating to Bangkok for Agoda, I’d say don’t hesitate. It might feel like a big step, but the support you’ll receive will make the transition smooth. “I spent my first year as a Customer Experience Specialist and have moved into a secondment role within the Talent Acquisition team. I now handle end-to-end support for candidates, from initial screening and interviewing to coordination and scheduling. My manager from the Customer Support team suggested the current position to me, saying I’d be a great fit. I’ve always been interested in recruitment because I love observing and interacting with people. Also, knowing that my manager recognized my potential gave me the confidence to apply. “I joined Agoda in 2019. After working in several departments, I’m now with Quality Assurance (QA) team. My main role is to review communication between the Accommodation Services Team (AST) and our partners. I evaluate agent performance and policy compliance against our guidelines, then share my analysis and improvement plans with the management team. While I was in CST (Customer Services Team) and AST, I noticed opportunities to improve our SOPs and saw inconsistencies in quality among agents. I applied to the QA team because I believed I could help bridge those gaps and drive real improvements in our overall standards. Agoda is a fast-paced company where change happens frequently.
