Octo-Podi-Don't dump your meds in the ocean

This is what you get when you dump your expired meds into your sink a 96 armed sea critter (Octopus vulgaris).

Note the helpful lab tech who's pointing out one of the arms.

Sadly this critter did not survive long at the Shima Marineland Aquarium One alternate theory is that this fellow suffered a tragic accident and had a "gross regeneration event" causing the many arms.

Television-Giant Squids? Yeah!

You just have to love any programming that involves the Humboldt Squid (sneak peak video).

With a sharp beak that can open up even the toughest armor like a hot knife through butter anyone who dives with these critters is rewarded with an adventure of a lifetime.

Here's the scoop for all you "couch divers" out there video below:

QUEST SEASON PREMIERE. A mysterious sea creature up to 7 feet long, with 10 arms, a sharp beak and a ravenous appetite, has invaded ocean waters off Northern California. Packs of fierce Humboldt Squid attack nearly everything they see, from fish to scuba divers. Marine biologists are working to discover why they've headed north from their traditional homes off South America.

Will giant Humboldt squid take over Northern California's fisheries? Jane Stevens of the Tagging of Ocean Predators (TOPP) Blog posits that changes in the Oxygen Minimum Layer (OML) may be partly to blame for the invasion of these giant cephalopods.
