CYS: S=Santa

I am late, but got my card done for the September Challenge your Stash group. (aka CYS).

Jeanette is the hostess this month, and she chose "S" as our challenge.  So, a sort out of my craft space lead me to pull out this stamp- it is one in a set of 4...and has never been used- brand new and has an Archivers tag on it- and Archivers has been closed for 7 or 8 years now....  Ohhh my!  Glad to ink it up and create a card for Christmas- which will be here before we know it!

I blended Distress Oxide ink on the cardstock, ran it through a 3D EF, added Wink of Stella and white paint splatters. Next, embossed the kraft cardstock and used it as a mat for Santa. I added some Copic coloring for highlights on the image and finished off with snowflake gems and rhinestones.

Challenge Your Stash (CYS) September

Tracie C (taclary at Splitcoast) is our Sept Hostess for using our stash, and she challenged us to use leaves.  Any type of leaf or leaves.

This image is by Stamps Happen.  To my knowledge, I have never inked it up.....  I colored using COpics on the edges, the brown edging is a Distress marker.  The leaf is masked and Antique Linen distress ink applied, then the leaf colored with Copics. It dies not show well, but there is a layer of Ruby Red cardstock behine the main panel, then the white cardstock.

Thanks for a great challenge Tracie!

CYS- Something old

CYS- Challenge Your Stash at Splitcoaststampers asked us to use something old today on our cards.  Our hostess in Jennifrann.

For my card, I stamped using an image from Concord and 9th. I went old school on the technique, which is adding Distress ink on the background, and then adding more color through a stencil.  I did not mask, just avoided adding color to the center.  I used Copic markers for coloring, and added E50 to the center of the circle to 'age' it and not leave it stark white. The flower on the Lt was stamped again and raised up on dimensionals. I added sequins and a bird die, also colored using Copics.
This brings me back to when I was a child.  My Mother was very creative and would make wreaths for the door- she would always include a bird, even at Christmastime!!!

HERE is the link to the CYS gallery for October over at Splitcoaststampers.  Last years cards will also show up!
We are using up our unused supplies!!!

CYS August- stencils

Our Hostess for CYS (Challenge Your Stash), a monthly challenge at Splitcoaststampers.com,  is Kelly.  She challenged us to use stencils.  Oh, I have a few of those (large drawer full).....LOL

I made a background using distress inks, then added flicks of water to watermark. Next, I spritzed the stencil, and laid it on top of the background, then lifted it up, and a watermark of the stencil is on the background.
When I first had a Scan N Cut, I cut out oddles and oddles of images, which reside in a baggie.....  I am doing some sorting today and came across the baggie and took out this vase (which I cut about 10 of) and colored it up and added it to the card.  I used the Splitcoaststampers Sketch challenge for the card as well.

You can find us at Splitcoaststampers.com/forums/swaps/cards/closed/Challenge Your Stash.  Even though the challenge is in a 'Closed' area, it IS open for new members.  We are using supplies in our stash that are 'unused' for a while!!!

CYS- Yellow and sunshine

Our CYS (aka Challenge Your Stash) group (at Splitcoaststampers.com)  has a challenge of Yellow and Sunshine!

I have finally taken my Distress Ink Cubes out of their packaging (while I was on vacation), and I so love them!  I can ink a stamp with them, make backgrounds and watercolor with them- even mixing the colors if I do not have the correct color.  And, they are so easy to transport!
I stamped up a Llama stamp the floral image from the same set from Unity stamps using Black Memento Tuxedo. I added color using my ink blending tool on the llama and watercxolored using the distress inks for the flowers. I made the clouds freehand...the sun diecut was gifted to me, so I do not know where it is from.
The background was stamed in black with a third image from the same set in black.  Then, I sprinkled water over the background and dried with a paper towel.  The llama and flowers was latered on the top.
The sentiment is from the same set.

CYS- Hamburger OR food : )

May - Jeanette - Forest Ranger CYSMAY
~~May 28th is National Hamburger Day--include a hamburger or some other food on your card. See Post #4101 for more info.

So, I do not have any hamburger stamps, but I have seasonings!

I used a mini challenge over at Unity to make this card- repeat stamping. I added just a splash of red to the images using Copic markers. I added a couple of red rhinestones to add a little accent bling!

CYS-March Bunnies

March - Barbara - bejoyce--Keyword CYSMAR
~~use a bunny or rabbit, and it does not have to be an Easter card. If you don't have one, use any animal on your card

The image of the bunny on the swing is by Uptown Rubber Stamps, the row of bunnies on the bottom is by Stampin Up,  the Easter eggs in the grass are by Embossing Arts, the sentiment is by Bugaboo Digital Stamps,

I colored using Copic markers.  The tree trunk and leaves were freehand cut.  For the tree, I colored using Copics for texture and the trunk is embossed using a Tim Holtz Sissix EF . The Grass is cut using a Cheery Lynn die. The sky is sponged using SU Soft Sky and I used a SU scalloped oval punch for my template. All cardstock is Stampin Up.

I bought these stamps about 10 years ago, and it's the first time they have seen ink!  Fun story- when I was a young nurse, I worked the 3-11:30 shift.  After work, we would go to a nearby park and swing!  It was so nice to spend time together but swinging is so calming!  And, at midnight, we did not have little kids that wanted the swings.

The sketch at The Outlaws gave me the idea for the layout.
