Falladay Day 1

It's Falladay at Splitcoaststampers!  We have 2 weeks of challenges and throwback tutorials- a bit more laid back that Dare to Get Dirty!

Three challenges for Day 1, which was this past Monday:

The first challenge is to use a piece of plaid flannel on our cards.

The candle/greenery die cut is a RAK.  The Sentiment die cut is by Memory Box.

Next, we are to make a card using a 'real' postage stamp.  Bonus if you make it Mixed Media : )

I used Gina K ink and a SSS stencil for the background. I added Nuvo Glitter paste over areas of the background.  The Snowflake in blue metallic card is also SSS.  Santa and the sentiment are Inkadinkado.  Colored pencils were used to color Santa, then a touch of Copics too.  I added glue then glitter to the beard. And, that is a real postage stamp- I love it for the Santa themed card.

Finally, the 3rd and final challenge was to make a 'peeking' snowman card.

The Whimsey Stamps image was cut apart, and angled past the cardstock wall. The background was made with swiping Gina K blue spots across the back and blending them together.  Snowflakes were stamped in white from the Inkadinkado set I used for card #2 above. I used colored pencils for coloring the snowmen.

If your up for a challenge, come join us at the Falliday Fest at Splitcoaststampers!

More VSN cards

We have company, so no time in the craft room, but I wanted to post a few more of the VSN cards I made.  VSN at Splitcoaststampers is over, and the prizes are being posted now : )

For the line dancing themed challenge, we were to use boots.

This image is by Kitchen Sink Stamps.

The next card is for the VSN mini sketch challenge:

The image is Great Impressions and is colored using Copic markers.

This card was created using a challenge that is a song called Fishing in the Dark.  I had no stamps that suited the theme very well, so I made a card of literal Fishing in the dark.  The couple image is Inkadinkado and the trees Newtons Nook.

Hoping your weekend is going well!

Splat, Splat.....

I joined in with the Friday challenges at Splitcoast today.  The Mixability challenge was Splats!  I used Mixed Media paper and Daniel Smith Watercolors.

The image by Penny Black was colored with Copics. I added a crimped edge at the top left and bottom right for the Fun 4 All challenge.
I am entering this in CraftyCatz challenge- AG with option of dressing up. If you Give a Crafter a Cookie- has a picture Inspiration of Halloween themed cookies : )

Daniel Smith watercolors in one layer here.  The image by Inkadinkado was stamped with Versamark and embossed with black EP.  The diecut and strip of black paper was added.
Just Add Ink challenge wants a technique on a card. And, A Bit More Time to Craft- AG challenge.  Music is the theme at Artistic Stamper Creative challenge.

Stencil Smooshing

A quick card made for the Technique challenge at SCS, and an added challenge- make it CAS (Which I stink at.....).

This image is in my "Should it stay or should it go" pile.......  I thought I'd ink it up and give it a look.  It is by Inkadinkado.  The background is called Stencil Smooshing and is the technique challenge at SCS today.  There is a great video showing how it is done.  I went light handed at it, but will try it again.  The stencils are done in Honey, Green and rust Distress inks. The image is colored with Distress Markers. I had to add a twine bow.......could not leave it plain! The sentiment is stamped in Rust Distress Ink, it is by Sunny Studios Stamps.

Washi Bunnies

Washi is fun to use and not stressful at all!  So, these bunny cards are created using two separate but equally easy techniques.

This card is created by cutting cardstock the approx length and width of the die and covering it with Washi Tape, then cutting out the bunnies and layering them on the DSP. The sentiment is from a Hero Art set.

Here is the pink bunny before die cutting......

The 2nd card is done by die cutting the bunnies out of the DSP, then adding the Washi to card that will be under the DSP.

  Here is the card underneath.

I used a portion of an Inkadinkado sentiment for the card.

Do you have much Washi???

AOSA Sketch card (December)

Still catching up- almost there : ) This was the December sketch card for the AOSA (About Oriental Stamp Art ) Yahoo group.

I went to town on using your older stuff!  Which I, clearing throat, have an ample supply of........  I used my stamping platform and stamped and embossed this Inkadinkado image on a textured cardstock, layered it over a distressed cardstock that was roughed up and edged with Versamark and Gold EP also added.  I used Ranger Queens Gold EP on both layers. I added a layer of green Mulberry Paper, I have a bit of it, for the background.  It has veins running through it so adds more texture.  I stamped and embossed the Kanji from the stamp and trimmed it out for the final sketch requirement.  I added some Prima flowers with Unity sequins in the centers. The cardstock I used is So Saffron and Wild Wasabi.

Christmas Teddy

The 2nd Bugaboo challenge for the Christmas Crazy challenge this week is a Sketch challenge.

I love this sweet image. I colored the image with Copics and added liquid applique to the hat and ball at end of hat. I sprinkled glitter over the liquid applique while it was wet- it is hard to see in the picture. The DP is Basic Grey from eons ago. The cardstock is SU Cherry Cobbler I used a corner rounder, and scored the cardstock in the opposite direction of the stripes in the DP. The sentiment is from Inkadinkadoo.

Christmas Gift Tag

I had a bit of time in the craft room- finally!  I decided to check the Catch the Bug iapiration for the day, and used the  SCS technique challenge- watercolor impression to create!

I did not follow the tutorial on SCS exactly.... I used regular cardstock instead of watercolor paper.  I applied Distress ink and then spritzed a stencil, placed it wet side down onto the cardstock.  It makes a pattern in the ink as it lifts some of the color.

I had to use this fun peeking reindeer from Bugaboo- I just love the last release- so many darling images!!!

The to/From stamp is from Inkadinkado.

I had so much fun today- I bought a Scan and Cut and it has been cutting out all of my images today- I absolutely LOVE it!!!

DDD- Midsummer Night's Dream

It's the 15th of the month, and that means it is time for the Dueling Darlings : )  Paola (dazzlers) and Heather (Diva's) are the hostesses this month. The theme is ***Midsummer Night's Dream***. The play follows the adventures of four young lovers who are controlled and manipulated by the fairies who inhabit the forest in which the play is set.

My fairy could not possibly be a bad influence- she looks too sweet, don't you think???

Since both of our hostesses this month are from Canada, and July 1st marked Canada's 150th Birthday, we are to add a maple leaf somewhere on our card.

Supplies:
DE SIGNER PAPER :
Graphic45 ( Nature Sketchbook Collection)
* Flora Fascination # 4501476
* Wildflower Bouquet # 4501478
* The Sprinkling Limited Edition Colors c/s stack
STAMPS:
Fairy Sweet by Penny Black ( illustrated by M.Manning)
Maple Leaf by SU
Sentiments( sm) by Inkadinkado ( lrg) by Great Impression E655
ACCESSORIES:
* red sheer ribbon ; turquoise jewels -from stash

We are told that many catchy quotes and phrases have roots in Shakespearean time- a few examples: *My heart of Hearts* In my minds eye * Knock knock, who's there*  Love is Blind * Too much of a good thing* Lie Low* Break the Ice*, etc, etc

Here is the sketch I used from Sweet Sketch Wednesday:

June-one for the Pup

It is time for the June Dazzlers post, and our hostess for this month is Darlene.  I loved this kit and had a blast creating this card!

Dog & paw print stamps: Inkadinkado
Sentiment: Hero Arts "Be the Person"
Papers: Paper Studio, Multicolored Dog Paws, Red Burlap and Masculine Stripe. Green is SU
Plastic dog paws are Paper Studio's Spare Parts, "Knick Knacks"
Buttons from Hobby Lobby, sewing section.

I used the SCS Sketch 597 for the layout for this card. My husband does most of the pet care here. Our dog is getting old and grumpy, and likes him better : )  He is a really good dog- but almost 15.

My childhood pet was a black poodle named ZsaZsu. There were 7 of us kids and she got lots of attention. I do not remember putting her on a leash and walking her like we do with our dog, but we had a huge yard and lots of activity.

The Dueling Darlings are a group on Splitcoaststampers. We are divided up into the Divas and the Dazzlers. Each group receives a kit, and we all create with a like theme.  Then, we hop to each others blogs to see what everyone has created. The links are on my sidebar- stop on by and see how the other ladies interpreted the theme : )

Fun with Glue ATC's

My Monthly ATC group had a theme of Glue resist this month.  I had fun experimenting........ this is a long post..........

I made a template with a small heart punch and added glue through the punched shaped hearts to the background (with regular Elmers Glue).....let it dry, applied distress inks.....  The stamps are Michael Strong and SU.

On this one, I just scribbled on the glue and let it dry- the image is House Mouse, and it is colored with Copics. There are 3 layers of bobbin and 2 of the mouse.

Next, I took glue and spread it over a piece of bubble wrap- and let it dry before applying the inks.

This image is Sweet Stamps, the sentiment is Create with TLC.

 This image is Inkadinkado.

 These images are Rogue Redhead.

A collage image from an Unknown source. Obviously the background is dotted with glue. Sentiment is Rogue Redhead.

On this image, I painted the Geisha faces with glue, then applied Distress Inks over the top. Then, I dabbed the glue off the faces. The image is colored with Copics. The image is from About Art Accents.

On this ATC, I drew 'U's'. Image is Prickley Pear and it is colored with Copic Markers

On this ATC, I just added the lines with glue then added Distress Inks. The image is an Unknown digital image and the sentiment- Create with TLC.

These images are by Rogue Redhead.

On this ATC, I took the glue and dotted it on and then rubbed it side to side with my finger- once dry I added Distress Inks. The image is the same as the ATC above- I am not sure who created it.

On this ATC, I dabbed glue on the ATC and spread it around with a patterned frosting spreader. There is a background pattern from the glue and that is why you see streaks in the tree. I stamped the image twice and cut out the word Serenity and the house. The image is by Artistic Outpost.
