same o' same o' 😺 dry lake with the squad.  just because it's fun, we've been trail riding and practicing flat track in the desert with Kiyo and Kat. there's no particular reason but we feel like we are teens again.

またまたいつもの変の態メンバーでドライレークでコソ練。何にコソコソしているのかも分からないし、特に何の意味もない。ただ楽しいからっていう小学生の時に友達と遊んでいるような感覚で、お弁当持ってせっせと砂漠に通う熟年ピーポー。意味もなく楽しいこと、オトナになるとやらなくなっちゃうのはなぜかしら？　やってるけど

optional canyon ride before the custom revolution ride...

our workshop was the rendezvous point for the ride to the Petersen Automotive Museum for the opening night of Paul d'Orleans' Custom Revolution exhibit. however, many friends, old and new, from across the states and the world showed up about two hours earlier than the meeting time for the optional canyon ride with us. 

今宵はピーターセン乗り物博物館でPaul d'Orleans氏の「Custom Revloution」のオープニングがあるので、みんなで博物館までライドしようという話は聞いていた。しかし知らぬうちに我々がホストになっていてチャボが集合場所となっている。しかもその前にアズサ山でライドしたい人は集合時間の2時間前に集まるようにとお達しが。これもいつの間にか勝手に決まっている。企画した人は「大丈夫、僕が仕切るから。シンヤのショップに集合ってだけだからさ。」と言っていたので安心していたら、まさかの仕切り屋さんが飛行機が遅れて間に合わないと連絡が。そして思っていた4倍くらいの人々が続々と集まってきている。知った顔もあれば初めての方々も。しかも世界各国、全米各所から。全員オプショナルのアズサ山ライドから参加。こんな大所帯でオープニングに間に合うように山から都会まで移動するのを仕切るなんて、仕切るのが不得手な我々はアワワワするばかり。

shinya will lead the pack and i'll be the sweeper. shinya will keep leading and will not stop or wait so if someone stops for some reason i'll wait with him/her and take him/her to our usual spot in the canyon. that was the plan. first, we all stopped at the gas station, right around the corner of our workshop to fill up. that was where our friend and fellow cannonballer PY's Velo acted up. shinya had no time to wait for him so he and all others left except him, his buddy and i.

慣れない仕切りに戸惑いながらも、木村氏が先頭でグループを山の途中のスポットまでリードする、途中で何か問題があって停まった人がいても待たない、その代わり筆者が一番後ろからはぐれた人や停まっている人を拾いながら、スポットまで誘導する、という作戦を立てる。とにかくもたもたしているとオープニングに間に合わないので、ささっと行こう。まずはチャボから1分もかからないガスステーションで給油。と、ここで友人であり1回目のキャノンボーラーでもあるPY氏のヴェロセットがさっそく止まってしまった。木村氏とグループはさっさと給油を済ませて出発してしまった。PY氏と彼の友人と筆者がいきなりガスステーションで足止め。早っ

 PY knows his Velo more than anybody else and i was pretty sure that he could fix any problems so i wasn't worried about it that much. 

PY氏は誰よりもヴェロセットのことを知っているし、キャノンボーラーだし、普段からこういうのに慣れているから絶対に直せるのは分かっているし、何も心配はない。

 and we all made it to one of shinya's spots in the canyon.

そして全員無事に山の途中の目的地まで到着。

この前のクリスタル茶屋までのライドが楽しすぎたので、Kヨ氏とKットさんにどうしても別ルートも見せたくなって誘惑してみたら、まんまと誘惑に乗ってきた二人😻 うしし

and of course, we had a super fun ride again. riding in the empty canyon on weekdays is almost like a guilty pleasure. so shinya told Kiyo in advance "as a mechanic or a motorbike builder or whatever you call it, as long as you are involved in the motorcycle business, riding and having fun with the motorcycles are part of our job. so don't worry, be happy!" 

SR500、アエルマッキ350スプリント、CL450、CL77。本日も雑多なラインナップ。このコースは500ccまでのオートバイで行くのが最高に楽しいかも。そして、予感はしていたけどやっぱり最高のライドとなった。平日に誰もいない山で山乗りを楽しんでいるとなぜだか後ろめたい気持ちになっちゃうんだけど・・・「バイク屋さんがオートバイに乗って楽しむのは遊びじゃないのよ立派な仕事」そう木村パイセンが言っているので、「これは仕事、立派な仕事」とみんなで呪文のように唱えながら、また行こう！今日もいい仕事したわー💦

a group of young talented fellows, founders of Thrive Motorcycle from Jakarta, Indonesia stopped by.

インドネシアはジャカルタから、Thrive Motorcycle というカスタム・ショップを運営する主要メンバーとその仲間、才能溢れる若きクリエーター達がチャボに寄ってくれた。

with the growth of the internet, the world became smaller, we say. though, they are from thousands of miles away. the languages, cultural backgrounds, ages...(shinya could be their dad!) there are so many differences to list all between them and shinya. however, we all speak "motorcycle" and put our hearts into making something. that's all we need to spend a quality time together. how amazing is that!

インターネットの普及で世界が近くなったとは言え、何千マイルも離れた国からやって来た彼ら。言葉や文化、育ってきた環境や見てきたものもまったく違う。年齢なんかもきっと、木村氏は彼らのお父さんと変わらないくらいでしょう。それでもたった一つ、オートバイという共通語があるだけで、時間を忘れて話ができる。その上、想いを込めて何かを作るという共通点があれば、こんなに若さ溢れるヤングなみんなと（逆に生きてるオートバイ図鑑のような大先輩とも）楽しくて価値のある時間を一緒に過ごせる。なんて素晴らしいことなのだろう。

そして、こちらは40マイルほどしか離れていないけど、会うとやっぱり時間を忘れていろんな話のできるKiyo's GarageのKヨ氏（間違えなく変の態）。午後からまたまたツーリングを計画していたので（オートバイに乗るのは仕事ですキリッ）Kットさんと一緒にチャボ入りしたところをジャカルタのヤングと一緒にパチリ。なぞのスリーショット。ヤングの貫禄に押され気味の木村氏と国籍不明感漂うKヨ氏。100%ウサンがクサイお写真の出来上がりっと。

heart to heart ride...

a canyon ride with Kiyo and Kat. every ride is precious but this one was very special for us for many reasons.

Kiyo's GarageのKヨ氏とKットさんと初の山ライド。仲間とオートバイに乗れるというのはいつだって貴重な時間。でも様々な理由から、今日のは我々にとってはすごくスペシャル。

one of the big reasons was because this was our long-cherished wish. shinya, Kiyo and I have been talking about going for a canyon ride more than 10 years, long before Kiyo got married to Kat, but for some reasons, it never happened. and now with Kat, we are riding in the canyon all together!

大きな理由のひとつは、Kヨ氏と会う度に話していた一緒に山に乗りに行こうという計画が、10年近くなんだかんだで実現せず、本日やっと願いが叶ったという特別感。その10年の間に独身貴族だったKヨ氏はKットさんと出会い、まさかの夢の2x2（にーにー）でツーリングというミラコー感。その他もろもろ、人生いろいろ、とにかく感激のライドなのであります。
