This Pasir Gudang World Kite Festival is 1️⃣ of Malaysia’s 🇲🇾 most established international cultural events, bringing together more than hundreds of both local & international professional kite flyers / kite surfers & participants from over 56 countries this year 2026 (The highest international participation), including to showcase the diversity of kite 🪁 art & creativity from the newly joined 6️⃣ countries participation this year ie. Algeria 🇩🇿, Greece 🇬🇷, Hungary 🇭🇺, Qatar 🇶🇦, Tunisia 🇹🇳 & Uruguay 🇺🇾
Yes ✅, the international participation for this festival has continuously increased ⬆️ from 39 countries in year 2024 to ⬆️ 44 countries in year 2025 & this year 2026 with 56 countries, bravo 👏🏻 🙌🏻💯👍🏻
This annual international festival is also being expected to be a catalyst for the local tourism & economic sector (Particularly hotels 🏨 , homestays 🏘️ & local eateries 🍽️around Pasir Gudang & Johor Baru) with an expected attendance of over 650K visitors throughout this festival. This Pasir Gudang World Kite Festival was actually established in 1995 as an annual international event to serve as an important platform for cultural exchange & international friendship through the art of kite 🪁 flying. It celebrates both traditional & modern kite flying 🪁, then attracting participants & enthusiasts from around the globe 🌎 It showcases Malaysia’s 🇲🇾 rich kite heritage through traditional designs like Wau Bulan, Wau Merak & Wau Kapal 😍🤩
This 28th edition international-class kite 🪁 festival with the theme “Benua Bertamu di Langit Johor… Meh Lah!” to welcome 🤗 all to witness the beauty of the world’s 🌎 kite art decorating the sky of Pasir Gudang & experience the excitement of this international-class festival 🇲🇾🪁
The organiser, MBPG also held various promotions such as 26 units motorcycle 🏍️convoys to all districts within Johor state to publicize this annual festival 🇲🇾🪁 Yes ✅, as a symbolic pre-launch of this annual festival, the YB Datuk Mayor of Pasir Gudang 👨🏽💼 also performed a gimmick of releasing a motorcycle 🏍️ convoy accompanied by MBPG employees & the local community. This said convoy will travel for 2️⃣ days covering districts within Johor for the purpose of promoting this Pasir Gudang World Kite Festival 2026 💯👍🏻
