It’s hosted by the Malaysia Mountain Trail Festival (MMTF) Consultant, an “International Sporting Event Management” company based in Taiping on last Fri morning, 14 July 2023

The Director General of Tourism Malaysia, YBhg. Dato’ Dr. Ammar bin Abd. Ghapar 👨🏽‍💼 has officiated this launch of the Maxwell BaseCamp’s Conservation Trail & has expressed his full 💯 support for the ongoing greenery conservation project at Maxwell Base Camp, which he believes can provide a 🆕 breath of fresh air & attracting more visitors to Taiping town, especially Bukit Larut

YBhg. Dato’ Dr. Ammar bin Abd. Ghapar 👨🏽‍💼 has further elaborated in his speech that Taiping town to him personally it’s a nice nostalgia destination to meet up with some old friends. He shared that he happily met his old friend here & enjoyed his favorite prawn fritters aka cucur udang together at Taiping. He felt so honored to officiate the launch & greatly appreciate Mr Ewegene Tan’s 👨🏻‍💼 great 👍🏻 passion to preserve the Maxwell Hill

“This initiative aligns with the tourism industry’s focus on sustainability & the current trend of tourists engaging in recreational activities, including hiking 🥾🚶🏻‍♀️⛰️”, YBhg. Dato’ Dr. Ammar bin Abd. Ghapar 👨🏽‍💼 expressed proudly that this Maxwell Base Camp as a sustainable tourism project also manifesting a public-private partnership 🤝🏻🙌🏻 which is closely related to gain a mutual benefit in the tourism sector

YBhg. Dato’ Dr. Ammar bin Abd. Ghapar 👨🏽‍💼 also highlighted that Taiping with lots of potential in promoting tourism to the global 🌏 It’s important to working closely towards with a good combination of tourism products to attract many more local & foreign visitors here. Especially Taiping features more than 50 1️⃣st icons (Taiping was an important colonial administrative centre & boasts many 1️⃣st icons, including British Malaya’s 1️⃣st prison, lake gardens & commercial railway 🚂 to Kuala Sepetang (FKA Port Weld) which opened in 1885 to transport tin 16km to the mangrove-draped coast 🎢, 1️⃣st natural waterfall water swimming pool which located in the Maxwell Hill & more). He also suggested to have some travel packages on war trails, camping site potential with appropriate toilet facilities in mind etc.

Why Maxwell BaseCamp’s Conservation Trail❓⁉️

The development & improvement of the Maxwell Conservation Trail is an ongoing process. The 1️⃣st phase of this Conservation Trail is 220m long & when fully completed will cover a distance of approximately 2.5km long in total

This Conservation Trail is made interactive & educative with a purpose to share & raise awareness to visitors especially amongst the younger generation the rich flora & fauna at Maxwell Hill, to love nature environment, issues pertaining to conservation of nature & matters related to the environment

All visitors will sure notice some yellow 💛 signage with QR which they can scan 🤳 & read the flora & fauna details while walking on the trail. Some of the flora species that found on this Conservation Trail consists of sentul tree, pulai tree, leban tree & membuluh tree while fauna species are including burung takau rimba (banded broadbill), burung murai cacing, kijang, lutung & tupai pinang

The surrounding area of Bukit Larut also 1️⃣ of the focal points for birders to spot bird species & bird observation activities

What’s Maxwell BaseCamp❓⁉️

Maxwell BaseCamp which launched since 17 June 2023 is an environmental conservation project from MMTF under the consequential project #LoseYourMindDiscoverYourSoul initiative by MMTF Consultant company. It’s an “International Sports Event Management” company which is based in Taiping, Perak, West Malaysia 🇲🇾 & has organized the MMTF in collaboration with the Perak State Forestry Department since 2018

Note: #LoseYourMindDiscoverYourSoul to athletes are being taken to an exotic location 📍 & provided with a challenge that let them lose their mind & discover their soul. To the organisation, it signify projects that are able to contribute back to the community where each race are held

It’s an eco-friendly project 💚 that fights for biodiversity, history & nature conservation, low carbon, recycling, sustainability, green space & renewable energy. About 5308 trees 🌱🌱 have replanted on this site since Nov 2022 in collaboration 🤝🏻🙌🏻 with various partners

YBhg. Dato’ Dr. Ammar bin Abd. Ghapar 👨🏽‍💼 has been invited to replant the tree no. 5309 🌱 during this launch ceremony at the Maxwell BaseCamp, he expressed happiness in his speech to the media members by informed that 5309 will be his lucky number 🍀💯 now

This sustainable conservation project  features an educative cum interactive conservation trail (Which launched this 14 July 2023), nature trails, Suunto Vertical Segment, The Bunker (Gallery), campsites, a café & a Recreational Outdoor Exchange (R.O.X.) Store. In addition to the 2️⃣ campsites, there are 4️⃣ trails used for training climbing runs or leisure activities. Either 1️⃣ of the trail will be used as route for the upcoming “vertical kilometer” running challenge from 2 to 5 Nov 2023 which will be organized by The North Face Malaysia & MMTF. The Vertical Kilometre (VK) is the only VK race of its kind in Malaysia 🇲🇾 The VK Challenge is a time trial challenge that will take runners up to 1000m asl in just over 5KM. MMTF Consultant has started Maxwell Base Camp ~ An impactful environmental development project this low in Aug 2022 (About 8 months of application in 2021) after getting official approval ✅ of 9 acres from Perak State Forestry Department & Perak State Government. The 1️⃣st phase of this environmental development project has incurred a cost of about RM650K. MMTF Consultant was awarded a grant by Thinkcity under the “Cultural Economy Catalyst Grant (CECG) of the Northern Region Archeotourism Network Programme (NRAP)” on 10 Aug 2022 to finance the cost of this project. Under the auspices of Ministry Of Finance Malaysia (MoF) & as part of the Budget 2022, the NRAP was initiated to re-optimise & connect heritage assets in the northern region of Peninsular Malaysia into a well-curated network of archaeotourism 💯💚👍🏻, heritage & natural sites as enablers for economic resiliency & socio-economic growth such as the creation of 🆕 jobs & investments, while highlighting the nation’s rich heritage & history

The rest of the cost of approximately RM25K is borne by its company with the organization ~ MMTF which has been supported 💯🤝🏻💪🏻 by the Federal Government & State Government, notably via the support of Tourism Malaysia & Tourism Perak through Tourism Malaysia & Tourism Perak. Total cost incurred of RM675K

Personally to him 👨🏻‍💼, at Taiping he still gets to enjoy most local foods here which are being prepared & cooked by the locals, not foreigners. It’s a historical town with great 👍🏻 town planning, just like a mini New York City 🏙️🌆 He has expressed that he sees Taiping will be the future to receive more local visitors especially with the 🆕 West Coast Expressway (WCE) 🛣️ from Banting, will stop at Taiping that expected to complete in year 2025. Moreover, Maxwell Hill’s forest bedding with high -ve ion of 1.6K, wow 😲

Among the outdoor products offered for sales in this showroom are The North Face, Salomon, Aetrex, Hydro Flask, Milestone & etc. This surely will attract many of this brand supporters to come & visit this only outlet in Malaysia 🇲🇾 & Asia 🌏 to enjoy shopping 🛒 🛍️ their sports gears physically here

The Malaysian Orienteering Association & the Malaysian Orienteering Academy also recognizes Maxwell BaseCamp as its Global Development Training Center since May 2023

The MMTF management hopes that this project will continuously give Maxwell Hill ⛰️ a facelift it truly deserves & bring more visitors to Maxwell Hill & Taiping town 💯👍🏻

He also frankly shared that it’s not an easy process all together, it has caused lots of stresses & some sleepless nights to him especially the past 2 months. He sincerely appreciated & requested the continuous support from the Federal, State & district governments in walking the journey with him at the official launch ceremony

This program aims to increase media involvement to promoting online via social media platforms the domestic tourism products visited. Among the locations highlighted in this program including the overnight stay experience in the durian orchard 🛌💤🌳📍 ie. Taiping Bamboo Resort which is located at the foot of Maxwell Hill. This tourism product is 1️⃣ of the destinations offered in the 2023 Durian Tourism Package under the management of Tourism Malaysia
