That wonderful feeling

This view of the Bahrain skyline from the vast expanse of the Busaiteen coast makes one feel ‘small’ in comparison with nature. Almost all of this island nation’s skyscrapers are captured in one frame, with the winter even clouds, and the setting sun, for company.
Behind me is the ocean, an equally awesome part of the Arabian Sea, that stretches for miles around this archipelagoe.

Falling leaves hide the path – quietly!

IMG_1097 IMG_1098As we walked in our compound this evening, negotiating the end of yet another hot and sultry day, I couldn’t but be in awe of such wonderful colours that we encountered.
It might be 40 degrees C plus and 80 per cent humidity but that does not stop nature from bringing out its true beauty.
The leafless tree and the rather disorganised pile of leaves and dried pods notwithstanding, it does present a pretty picture.
Nature, sure, is awesome. It can bring out the best even in the most adverse of circumstances!

Some of the best pictures I have seen. A must-see for anyone with any aspirations to become a good photographer. Very impressive. Most of the pictures are ‘gettable’ by you and me while some others are the works of professional photographers using latest equipment. Truly an inspiration.

Perfect antidote

Perfect antidote

New Year’s Day for me dawned with the annual visit of the dreaded flu as I woke up with a body-breaking fever and nausea. I spent the day in bed hoping it would pass in a few hours.
And the moment I felt better late in the evening, I captured this awesome sight on stepping out into the street. I can’t say if it was an instant antidote, but for a while the body aches and the fever were forgotten and I just wanted to take as many shots of this glorious view as possible.
I took several but this one, I reckoned, was the best. As the first picture of 2014, I guess it is prelude for the moments to come.
Nature, surely, is phenomenal.

Rain Burst

Hardly a “burst” but welcome showers, anyway. Hope we have plenty this winter.

It’s a dull day today in Bahrain. After some rain, drizzle by Indian standards, the roads are drying up, except for some odd patches of wetness, like sparingly used blotting paper. Image

Some seemed excited about the fact that “it rained while they were sleeping”, while some others seemed disappointed about the same fact.

Anyway, there is still hope of more rains/showers in the evening, with the dullness hung around as are the dampened spirits.

Rains, even these scanty ones, make me moderately crave for ‘pakodas’ (veggie-fries), but ever since I have turned weight conscious, my gluttony too has thankfully switched to a bake/grill mode.

rain 3 Rains make me want to sleep endlessly, which I can do even without the showers actually. I am a sloth, have always been one, and am proud of it. But rains make it better, curling up under a warm blanket, drifting into sleep watching ‘Iron Chef…
