This is my first post this year. It took a long time coming – all of 25 days – but, hopefully, is prelude to more writings and pictures in the coming months.
The sun set on 2016 nearly a month ago and it’s been a roller-coaster ride since then. Wasn’t an entirely bright start to the New Year but, now that things seem to be settling down, have no complaints!
Too many things have happened – some planned, some not quite so – but at the end of the day that’s what life’s all about.
I begin the year with a picture of the famed Bahraini sunset to show one chapter might’ve ended but there’s a new day and a new year – new plans to look forward to – that are taking shape, slowly but surely.
As they say, of the sun doesn’t set, how will it rise again!
That’s the way it is!

Greetings – Happy 2015
The festive season
Bahrain is still decked up in the colours of its flag, a week after the National Day.
December 16 is followed the next day by the Accession Day of His Majesty King Hamad after which there is Christmas and the New Year.
Celebrations normally begin well before National Day and continue well after the New Year. The country does not really come to a halt but there is festivity in the air for close to a month!
Perfect antidote
New Year’s Day for me dawned with the annual visit of the dreaded flu as I woke up with a body-breaking fever and nausea. I spent the day in bed hoping it would pass in a few hours.
And the moment I felt better late in the evening, I captured this awesome sight on stepping out into the street. I can’t say if it was an instant antidote, but for a while the body aches and the fever were forgotten and I just wanted to take as many shots of this glorious view as possible.
I took several but this one, I reckoned, was the best. As the first picture of 2014, I guess it is prelude for the moments to come.
Nature, surely, is phenomenal.
