The park at Al Areen

This rather surrealistic view of a park at Bahrain’s Al Areen Wildlife Reserve conveys the feeling one gets when relaxing there on a lazy weekend afternoon. While the reserve attracts thousands of visitors, this corner, surprisingly, is deserted, with most people in the midst of the hundreds of migratory birds, for whom this place is home in the winter.

Keeping the Bahrain date

The Al Areen Wildlife Park and Reserve is these migratory birds’ favourite haunt. A trip there during these months is a very pleasant experience.
There are also thousands of seagulls, cranes, pelicans and ducks – all together making for a rather cool picture!

Park Royale

DSC_1008 copyThe sun sets over Bahrain’s Arad Bay with scores of walking enthusiasts going about their daily business even as the severe summer heat has eased over the last few days. A sunset in Bahrain always presents a most beautiful sight and comes up with something unique each time it is photographed.

It’s been framed

‘I just want to say, I love you’

DSC_0461This duo, spotted at the Muharraq Municipal Park this evening, were taking pictures of each other, possibly to send back to loved ones in their home country. The men, who looked like workers from Bangladesh, were happily posing, making sure the right background of the Manama skyline and the high tide are captured. Interesting to note was the writing on one man’s t-shirt, which read: “To Say ‘I Love You’, one must be able to say the ‘I’.” The scenario made the state of mind of expatriates who stay away from their families abundantly clear – how they fight loneliness and take solace in one another’s company to pass their time!
