Sunset is still my favorite color

DSC_0751It takes a huge effort to free yourself from memory, but when you succeed, you start to realize that you’re capable of far more than you imagined

Rotting Fishing Boat

DSC_9824This boat, like several others on the Muharraq coast in Bahrain, has surely seen better days. As with many others, it has possibly helped in many a catch over the years but now lies dilapidated and uncared for. If only we cared for those who once cared for and provided for us, the world would be a better place!

Pigeon strike?

DSC_5765 DSC_5768 DSC_5773 DSC_5775Spotted just these three pigeons in an area of the Old Manama Suq where there would normally be hundreds of birds every evening, feeding on the morsels given to them by passersby. It was actually a strange sight since there was no fluttering, no mad rush to get at the food and no excitement. There had to be a reason for such strange behaviour.  I would want to know what it were.

The Mosque Down Town

DSC_5824The minaret of one of several mosques in downtown Manama is pictured against the setting sun and rows of apartment buildings. Of the hundreds of pictures I take, those of the setting sun – and the coast – remain my all time favorites – and bring forth something new each time.

Keeping the Bahrain date

DSC00044 vlcsnap-2014-03-21-22h47m22s228 vlcsnap-2014-03-21-22h52m10s35Flocks of flamingos have descended on Bahrain  to keep their annual date with the “warm” winter in this part of the world.
The Al Areen Wildlife Park and Reserve is these migratory birds’ favourite haunt. A trip there during these months is a very pleasant experience.
There are also thousands of seagulls, cranes, pelicans and ducks – all together making for a rather cool picture!
