Today in the afternoon my mom pointed towards an abandoned little crow beneath a shady tree outside our window. It seemed lost and kept constantly cawing probably calling for its parents. We were waiting for its parents to arrive anytime but rather came an uncalled visitor- a myna( an Indian myna, a bird native to Asia).
Roaming around the little crow & flying to a low lying branch, it kept repeating this bizarre cycle for quite some time. At first I thought maybe the myna was trying to prove dominance & shoo away the little one from its territory by putting up this act. But my mom being the ardent nature lover she is, pointed it out that never once did it peck the little one. And according to her it was trying to teach or atleast show the crow to fly to the nearest branch for its own safety as night was approaching & there’s always this imminent looming danger of predators.
I was awed at this little act of concern & kindness on part of that myna who didn’t give a damn whether it was its own child or a mighty crow’s. And it made me think, how many innocent kids could have been saved from tragic outcomes, had we humans shown even a bit of concern & responsibility towards those lost and terrified little souls like the brave myna did!
Do you ever ponder how many roles we play in a single day!
Beginning with the lazy bed bug in the morning ,when it seems more than just perfect to hang on to our dreams escaping the mundane daily routine. Instantly turning into that programmed robot to get through the basic morning chores making yourself look sane enough to engage with fellow homo sapiens. Then the adamant grown up child shows up constantly complaining about going to work which sucks.
Step out & there goes the diplomatic official stuck in the monochrome office dealing with angels to hypocrites. As evening approaches, the inner sprinter kicks in for the race back to your humble abode. And for the lucky ones staying with parents, the pampered child enjoys all the showering of love & food.
Finally the bed bug makes a lazy comeback marking a sleepy culmination to an entire day of blatant performances by emotionally withdrawn actors who sum up our ever boring story of just another mere existence on this planet!
From a guide, critique, stress buster, to the one laughing at our senseless gimmicks & the obvious partner in crime who makes life that much easier & fun to live through each day- a best friend is that magic potion which no magician could ever conjure to instill instant happiness in ones life.
To have such a person is no short than a blessing who celebrates your success without a hint of jealousy and shares your pain & lifts you up when you are a mess as compared to the ones wearing a facade of loyalty and friendship.Even after witnessing the best & worst of you, they are the brave souls who never give up on us as they see our brighter & kinder version which seems invisible to the rest.
For some, money is the ultimate source of happiness, I think they are yet to meet their “best friend” meant to anchor their boat in this beautiful journey of life!
