[Little Tangles] Challenge #23 - Sketch Challenge

Hi everyone! So after falling very un-ladylike off the bed (I was standing on it to fix something on the ceiling fan) and getting a concussion (ugh...), I am slowly recovering. They say most of the accidents occur at home...yep, I can check that one off.

Just a quick note that we're putting together some cards for Dear Grayson. Also a dear Little Tangles and Neat & Tangled supporter Heather Ruwe is putting a little fun card together for this champ. In addition, she is doing a GIVEAWAY for anyone who will provide card to Grayson. So hop on over there and put this week's sketch challenge to good use!

Good thing visual memory has nothing to do with crafting... my sense of style isn't completely broken. I hope. You be the judge with the quick card I made making my own Sketch. I'm throwing this into the mail for Grayson, and if you don't know what I mean, check out this link.

Here is my card for the sketch...

    [DYSU] Challenge #91 - Scallops

Good morning, DYSU fans! I'm a little short on time, so no long drawn out updates ;) This week we are challenging you with a classic: Scallop. So let's get started?

    Thank You
Stamps: (Fruit Barrow) Crafty Sentiments; (Big Bloom - Chrysanthemums) Waltzingmouse Stamps
Paper: (Paper Basics Card Stock - Fresh Linen) Papertrey Ink; (Miss Caroline "Dolled Up") My Mind's Eye; (orange) scraps
Ink: (Jenni Bowlin - No. 11 Brown Sugar) Ranger; (Versamark) Tsukineko
    Embellishments: (Soft-core Color Pencils) Prismacolor;
(Nestabilities - Classic Scalloped Circles Small) Spellbinders; (Impression Plate - Woodgrain; Jute Button Twine; Vintage Button Collection - Brown) Papertrey Ink; (A2 Embossing Cuttlebug Folder - Swiss Dots) Provocraft; (Border Punch - Scalloped Sentiment) Fiskars; (Perfect Pearls - Perfect Copper) Ranger; (Gelly Roll - Metallic Collection) Sakura

I embossed the main panel with swiss dots. The panel is stamped with Versamark and then dusted with Perfect Pearls Copper as well as trimmed with a border punch with scalloped sentiment shape. The main scalloped circle is impressed with woodgrain plate for added texture. The fruit barrow is colored with Prismacolor color pencils and paper pieced with some My Mind's Eye.

    Thank You

The sentiment is from Waltzingmouse Stamps and the rest of the embellishments are from Papertrey Ink. Quick way to anchor a sentiment.

    Thank You

That's all I have for you! Hop on over to see the amazing creations by the rest of the DYSU team. Please leave them a loving comment, because they do appreciate some blog love :)

On a last note, if you're a regular reader, don't forget to answer the survey in the top right panel and if you want to play along with in the current open QuAC challenge feel free to. Just a few more days left...

[Paperplay Challenges] Week 47 - Being Thankful

Note: If you are looking for DYSU challenge - please keep scrolling :)

Happy Happy Thanksgiving everyone! I hope you are enjoying friends and family. I am currently enjoying some vacation with friends in Hong Kong, enjoying the warm, warm weather. I am getting some hiking, good food, and major relaxing! If you are looking for a good challenge PaperPlay Challenge has the right thing for ya! And in honor of Thanksgiving, the theme is Being Thankful.

    Thifs is a quick card...almost a one-layer!

    Thank You
    Stamps: (Botanical Silhouettes) Papertrey Ink
Paper: (Paper Basics Card Stock - Fine Linen) Papertrey Ink

Ink: (Memento - Tuxedo Black, London Fog) Tsukineko
Embellishments: (Saddle-stitch Ribbon - Fine Linen) Papertrey Ink; (Chip Shapes) Studio Calico

I stamped the sentiment off, since I wanted it as close to the edge as possible. The botanical silhouettes is a nice stamp set. I really love the black silhouette flower against the grey.

    Thank You

The butterflies from Studio Calico are super cute! They have the perfect neutral color and compliment the rest of the card. The chipboard accents helps weight the top left against the black silhouette flowers, imho. Or maybe I was just looking for an excuse to finally use them :)

Please check out what the other PPC girls have prepared for this Thanksgiving and enjoy the time with family and friends!

Caring Hearts Card Drive Blog Hop

Welcome and thank you for stopping. You should be coming from the talented and fun Paulina (aka PrettyPinkPosh). If you happen to stumble here by way of another means, I'd like to encourage you to start from the beginning of this wonderful blog hop.

The beginning happens to be also my dear friend Vera's blog (who I met at CHA this year!) - the amazing person that put this Card Drive together. The card accumulated from this drive will be sent to the elderly that are in nursing homes or care centers. The goal is to bring some smiles to their faces during the holidays (i.e. Thanksgiving, Winter/Christmas).

What is even more amazing, many of Vera's favorite (and my favorite) stamping companies are throwing in some delicious prizes to support this good cause. You have until November 15 to create a Thanksgiving, Christmas, or Winter Holiday card and upload it to this blog post. More details about the card drive are also posted over there. So, what are you waiting for?

Another amazing thing - Vera is part of the Wee Memories DT. And the entire Team is backing her with this week's challenge as a way to get the word out there. Isn't the team spirit just amazing?

Oh right, I suppose you want to see a card.
(Did I mentioned I got sandwiched between two crazy talented ladies whose work I adore and draw many of my inspirations from?! I feel a tad intimidated by their talent - so lower your expectations by manifold ;) br/>
Here's my contribution to help inspire you to make a card. The best part? It is a super simple layout which you can tweak however you want.

    Give Thanks
Stamps: Turtle Tot - Love is in the Air (Stamping Bella); Bountiful Basket Additions (Waltzingmouse Stamps)
Paper: Paper Basics Card Stock - White (Papertrey Ink)
Ink: Earth Elements - Close to Cocoa (Stamping Up!)
Embellishments: Softcore Color Pencils (Prismacolor); Essential Color Glitter Set - Brownstone (Martha Stewart)

    Give Thanks

Think of what smiles this little card will bring to those spending the holidays alone in a nursing center! It is a great cause and I hope you will consider supporting it by sharing your creative gifts with these strangers.

Now off you go to be inspired by the brilliant Sarah Martina Parker. Oh how I adore her and her work.

    October Harvest Blog Waltz

Guess what time of the month it is? Yep, the Waltzingmouse Blog Waltz is back! This waltz's theme is Autumn/Harvest. Autumn always makes me think of apple cider, pies, quality time with my kitchen & oven, loads of squash and pumpkin carving! Unfortunately the last time I carved a pumpkin was two years ago. So hopefully this October will be different.

For this blog waltz, Bountiful Basket Additions will come out to play.

    Let Us Give Thanks
Stamps: Bountiful Basket Addition (Waltzingmouse Stamps)
Paper: Paper Basics Card Stock - Kraft (Papertrey Ink)
Ink: Earth Elements - Chocolate Chip (Stamping Up!); Versamark (Tsukineko)
Embellishments: Embossing Powder - Antique Gold (Martha Stewart); Soft-core Color Pencils (Prismacolor)

The pumpkins were embossed in gold and then colored in with some color pencils. A relatively simple card, but I love how it came out.

    Let Us Give Thanks

I will be donating this card to Vera's Caring Hearts Drive. For more details, please read her post - it is such a great cause and I really applaud her for doing so.

Thanks for stopping by - now I'm off to go see the other wonderful work of the other ladies!
