Mozilla JPEG Encoder Project
Improved JPEG encoder
MozJPEG improves JPEG compression efficiency achieving higher visual quality and smaller file sizes at the same time. It is compatible with the JPEG standard, and the vast majority of the world's deployed JPEG decoders. MozJPEG is compatible with the libjpeg API and ABI. It is intended to be a drop-in replacement for libjpeg. MozJPEG is a strict superset of libjpeg-turbo's functionality. All MozJPEG's improvements can be disabled at run time, and in that case it behaves exactly like libjpeg-turbo. MozJPEG is meant to be used as a library in graphics programs and image processing tools. We include a demo cjpeg command-line tool, but it's not intended for serious use. We encourage authors of graphics programs to use libjpeg's C API and link with MozJPEG library instead. Progressive encoding with "jpegrescan" optimization. It can be applied to any JPEG file (with jpegtran) to losslessly reduce file size. -

Toolbx Linux

Toolbx is a tool for Linux, which allows the use of interactive command line environments for development and troubleshooting the host operating system, without having to install software on the host. It is built on top of Podman and other standard container technologies from OCI. Toolbx environments have seamless access to the user's home directory, the Wayland and X11 sockets, networking (including Avahi), removable devices (like USB sticks), systemd journal, SSH agent, D-Bus, limits, /dev and the udev database, etc. This is particularly useful on OSTree-based operating systems like Fedora CoreOS and Silverblue. The intention of these systems is to discourage installation of software on the host, and instead install software as (or in) containers — they mostly don't even have package managers like DNF or YUM. This makes it difficult to set up a development environment or troubleshoot the operating system in the usual way. -

mprocs runs multiple commands in parallel and shows output of each command separately. When you work on a project you very often need the same list of commands to be running. For example: webpack serve, just --watch, node src/server.js. With mprocs you can list these commands in mprocs.yaml and run all of them by running mprocs. Then you can switch between the outputs of running commands and interact with them. -

Turtle is a reimplementation of the Unix command line environment in Haskell so that you can use Haskell as a scripting language or a shell. Think of turtle as coreutils embedded within the Haskell language. The turtle library focuses on being a "better Bash" by providing a typed and light-weight shell scripting experience embedded within the Haskell language. If you have a large shell script that is difficult to maintain, consider translating it to a "turtle script" (i.e. a Haskell script using the turtle library). Among typed languages, Haskell possesses a unique combination of features that greatly assist scripting. -

Deep Daze
Simple command line tool for text to image generation
Simple command-line tool for text to image generation using OpenAI's CLIP and Siren (Implicit neural representation network). In true deep learning fashion, more layers will yield better results. Default is at 16, but can be increased to 32 depending on your resources. Technique first devised and shared by Mario Klingemann, it allows you to prime the generator network with a starting image, before being steered towards the text. Simply specify the path to the image you wish to use, and optionally the number of initial training steps. We can also feed in an image as an optimization goal, instead of only priming the generator network. Deepdaze will then render its own interpretation of that image. The regular mode for texts only allows 77 tokens. If you want to visualize a full story/paragraph/song/poem, set create_story to True. -

Electron Packager is a command line tool and Node.js library that bundles Electron-based application source code with a renamed Electron executable and supporting files into folders ready for distribution. For creating distributables like installers and Linux packages, consider using either Electron Forge (which uses Electron Packager internally), or one of the related Electron tools, which utilizes Electron Packager-created folders as a basis. Note that packaged Electron applications can be relatively large. A zipped, minimal Electron application is approximately the same size as the zipped prebuilt binary for a given target platform, target arch, and Electron version (files named electron-v${version}-${platform}-${arch}.zip). Building an Electron app for the Windows target platform requires editing the Electron.exe file. Currently, Electron Packager uses node-rcedit to accomplish this. -

OpenDrop
An open Apple AirDrop implementation written in Python
OpenDrop is a command-line tool that allows sharing files between devices directly over Wi-Fi. Its unique feature is that it is protocol-compatible with Apple AirDrop which allows to share files with Apple devices running iOS and macOS. Currently (and probably also for the foreseeable future), OpenDrop only supports sending to Apple devices that are discoverable by everybody as the default contacts-only mode requires Apple-signed certificates. We support contacts-only devices by using extracted AirDrop credentials (keys and certificates) from macOS via our keychain extractor. OpenDrop is experimental software and is the result of reverse engineering efforts by the Open Wireless Link project. Therefore, it does not support all features of AirDrop or might be incompatible with future AirDrop versions. OpenDrop is not affiliated with or endorsed by Apple Inc. Mac App Store command line interface. mas-cli is a simple command line interface for the Mac App Store. Designed for scripting and automation. mas requires Swift 5 runtime support. macOS 10.14.4 and later include it, but earlier releases did not. Each application in the Mac App Store has a product identifier which is also used for mas-cli commands. Using mas list will show all installed applications and their product identifiers. It is possible to search for applications by name using mas search which will search the Mac App Store and return matching identifiers. Include the --price flag to include prices in the result. mas is integrated with homebrew-bundle. If mas is installed, and you run brew bundle dump, then your Mac App Store apps will be included in the Brewfile created. Works for Linux, Mac OSX, FreeBSD, NetBSD and WSL/MSYS2/Cygwin out of the box, no need to install or configure something, no gems, CPAN, pip or the like. OpenBSD only needs bash to be postinstalled. You can test any SSL/TLS enabled and STARTTLS service, not only webservers at port 443. Several command line options help you to run your test and configure your output. If a particular check cannot be performed because of a missing capability on your client side, you'll get a warning. You can look at the code, see what's going on and you can change it. -

Fortio (Φορτίο) started as, and is, Istio’s load testing tool and later (2018) graduated to be its own open-source project. Fortio runs at a specified query per second (qps) and records an histogram of execution time and calculates percentiles (e.g. p99 ie the response time such as 99% of the requests take less than that number (in seconds, SI unit)). It can run for a set duration, for a fixed number of calls, or until interrupted (at a constant target QPS, or max speed/load per connection/thread). Fortio is a fast, small (4Mb docker image, minimal dependencies), reusable, embeddable go library as well as a command line tool and server process, the server includes a simple web UI and REST API to trigger run and see graphical representation of the results (both a single latency graph and a multiple results comparative min, max, avg, qps and percentiles graphs).
