Open Source Data Analytics Tools

A data visualization and processing tool for scanning probe microscopy (SPM, i.e. AFM, STM, MFM, SNOM/NSOM, ...) and profilometry data, useful also for general image and 2D data analysis.

SciDAVis is a user-friendly data analysis and visualization program primarily aimed at high-quality plotting of scientific data. It strives to combine an intuitive, easy-to-use graphical user interface with powerful features such as Python scriptability.

DataMelt (or "DMelt") is an environment for numeric computation, data analysis, computational statistics, and data visualization. This Java multiplatform program is integrated with several scripting languages such as Jython (Python), Groovy, JRuby, BeanShell. DMelt can be used to plot functions and data in 2D and 3D, perform statistical tests, data mining, numeric computations, function minimization, linear algebra, solving systems of linear and differential equations. Linear, non-linear and symbolic regression are also available. Neural networks and various data-manipulation methods are integrated using powerful Java API. Elements of symbolic computations using Octave/Matlab scripting are supported.

It is specialized in fitting peaks (bell-shaped functions like Gaussian, Loretzian, Pearson7, Voigt) to experimental data.

LaCor is intended for physical data analysis in High Energy Physics field. It was originally designed to aid in lambda hyperon correlations research in the Selex@FNAL experiment, but it should be useful for similar studies.

LaueTools is an open-source project for white beam Laue x-ray microdiffraction data analysis including tools in image processing, peaks searching & indexing, crystal structure solving (orientation & strain) and data & grain mapping visualisation. Data evaluation tool for the magnetism reflectometer at the spallation neutron source (BL-4A@SNS). Reads raw nexus files (HDF5) of histogrammed or event mode data to create reflectivity curves and 2D Q-maps.

SCaVis can be used to plot functions and data in 2D and 3D, perform statistical tests, data mining, numeric computations, function minimization, linear algebra, solving systems of linear and differential equations. Linear, non-linear and symbolic regression are also available. Elements of symbolic computations using Octave/Matlab scripting are supported. The project was migrated to DataMelt.

ThermV thermal analysis software package aims to provide the most sophisticated automatic analysis of thermal analysis data (TG/DTG, DTA and DSC). It offers new algorithm for concurrent peak deconvolution at different heating rates and provides full kinetic analysis of these data, including isoconversional methods for Ea, determination of reaction model and full kinetic triplet, Avrami coefficients, and dimensionality of crystal growth for reactions in the solid state. The project is currently in alpha stage, where individual modules will be provided for data analysis. The modules for peak deconvolution, peak profile analysis and determination of Ea and lnA will be provided first. Full GUI will be provided in beta stage. Due to computational limitations, the code is partly programmed in Python and partly in R. Python code will eventually be fully integrated into GUI. R code might remain standalone, although it will be integrated to a highest possible degree. Distributed under GPL

VISPA is a novel development environment for high energy physics analyses, based on a combination of graphical and textual steering. The main goal of VISPA is to support users in prototyping, performing, and verifying a data analysis of any complexity.

ckon is a C++ program/tool which automatically takes care of compilation, dictionary generation and linking of programs and libraries developed for data analyses within the CERN ROOT analysis framework. This includes parsing include headers to figure out which libraries the main programs need to be linked to. It uses automake/autoconf to be platform independent and GNU install compliant. In addition, m4 macros are automatically downloaded and the according compiler flags included based on a list of boost libraries provided in the config file.

PAScual is a data analysis suite for Positron Annihilation Lifetime Spectroscopy (PALS).

This simple Python API aims to provide a simple and easy to understand access to the discharge database of the GOLEM Tokamak. The scipy, numpy and matplotlib Python libraries are used for data analysis and plotting.
