Open Source Rexx Software for Linux

Home of the Open Object Rexx Project. ooRexx is the open source version of IBM's Object REXX Interpreter. It is upwardly compatible with classic REXX and will execute classic REXX programs unchanged. The project is managed by the Rexx Language Association.

Rexx/CURL is a Rexx extension to enable Rexx programmers to control the cURL interface.

NokiX is a tool used to modify firmwares of the Nokia DCT3 phone series. To do that it uses external scripts written in Rexx language. NokiX isn't actively developed by the author anymore, the project homepage is for archival purposes only.

NetRexx is a dialect of the REXX programming language to run on the Java virtual machine. It supports a classic REXX syntax, with no reserved keywords, along with considerable additions to support object-oriented programming in a manner compatible with Java's object model, yet can be used as both a compiled and an interpreted language, with an option of using only data types native to the JVM or the NetRexx runtime package. Originally from IBM, NetRexx is the creation of Mike Cowlishaw, the 'Father of Rexx'. This IBM product has been open sourced in 2011.

Rexx/Curses is an interface to the curses library. With this external function package, Rexx programmers can write cross-platform applications with a consistent textual user interface.

AWSLIST - full-screen AWS tape browser. Browse tape files, directories and members of IEBCOPY or IEHMOVE unloaded data sets, enhanced browse of the printable data set having ASA control charaters. AWSLOAD - extracts data from AWS tape. Entire files can be extracted as well as IEBCOPY/IEHMOVE unloaded members. AWSDUMP - write data to AWS tape. Both standard labelled and unlabelled tapes supported, data set standard labels created as required. Existing tape may be appended. AWSINIT - initialize AWS tape. The same as z/OS IEHINITT does. AWSMAP - shortcut for AWSLIST -batch. Write AWS tape map and exits. UNCOPY - extracts members from IEBCOPY unloaded file UNMOVE - extracts members from IEHMOVE unloaded file UNISAM - extracts data from IEBISAM unloaded file XMITLIST - full-screen XMIT (TRANSMIT, IDTF) browser. RxSock is an external function package for Rexx programmers to enable them to connect to, and act as, TCP/IP socket servers.

A GUI debugger for ooRexx programs that can be run on Windows with ooRexx 4.2 or later and on other platforms with ooRexx 5.0 or later where Java with Swing/AWT has been installed along with bsf4oorexx. A powerful bi-directional ooRexx-Java bridge. BSF4ooRexx850 (bean scripting framework for ooRexx) supports ooRexx 5.0 or newer and Java 8 or newer, exploiting fully ooRexx (e.g. allowing Java methods to be implemented as ooRexx methods, supporting callbacks from Java to ooRexx), and Java. Camouflages Java as the dynamically typed, caseless and easy to use ooRexx: one can simply interact with any Java object and any Java class using ooRexx messages!

Rexx/SQL is a Rexx external function package that allows access to various SQL databases with the same interface. Multiple databases from different vendors may be connected at once.

Rexx/Tk is a Rexx external function package providing an interface to the Tk library. This allows Rexx programmers write portable, cross-platform GUI applications.

Mod_Rexx is an Apache loadable module which interfaces to Rexx. All phases of an Apache request can be processed with Mod_Rexx. It supports Open Object Rexx and Regina Rexx.

Rexx/gd is a Rexx interface to the gd graphics library. This interface allows a Rexx programmer to create and manipulate graphics images.

The Object REXX GTK+ Project provides a modal dialog manager interface to the GTK+ library from IBM's Object REXX. The project consists of a set of REXX external functions and an Object REXX class library which wraps those functions.

HSC (HTML Sucks Completely) is a developer tool for HTML projects. It is mainly intended for creating and maintaining larger Web sites, with a focus on compact and standards-conforming code. Its source texts are HTML files that use an extended syntax.

This is an ooRexx line-by-line port from Ansi-C to ooRexx of the stemming routine published by Martin Porter 1980. The original source code from Porter has been commented out and emulated by the corresponding (oo)Rexx code as far as possible. This is not an example of good or fast (oo)Rexx programming, it is merely a demonstration of the Porter stemming routine ported to ooRexx, use and modify as necessary. Input to the program is a textfile with words to be stemmed, one per line. Output from the program ends up in the terminal window (standard out) and may be redirected to an output file. Syntax: rexx ooPorter myInputfile.txt > myOutputfile.txt The program only works for stemming English words. The source code is distributed under a free beer license; you are free to use the ooRexx source code as you please and no restrictions whatsoever apply as far as the type of beer is involved.

This will read a USB Human Interface Device (HID) report descriptor from the specified input file then attempt to decode it and, optionally, create a C language header file from it. It also does some minimal sanity checks to verify that the report descriptor is valid. The input file can be a binary file or a text file (for example, an existing C header file). If it is a text file, it will concatenate all the printable-hex-like text that it finds on each line (until the first non-hex sequence is found) into a single string of hex digits, and then attempt to decode that string. You can feed it an existing C header file and it will decode it as long as you have all the hex strings (e.g. 0x0F, 0x0Fb2) at the beginning of each line. Commas (,) and semicolons (;) are ignored. Oh, and it's just a Rexx script - not an executable.

Rexx/Wrapper is a pseudo compiler for Rexx programs. It generates a SAA API application with the Rexx program embedded. The application is then compiled and linked allowing the user to distribute their Rexx program as a stand-alone executable.
