"It's better than you think, BUT" Posted 2023-06-20
Pros: Latency is very very low. I work in the entertainment industry and on a decent connection I'm able to drive a 4k display and edit on a remote workstation 500 miles away with low enough latency that it's usable. Sync isn't an issue for audio, the screen refresh is high enough that 60fps playback is-well not quite right but 24fps is fine. and you can edit 60 it just looks more like 24 fps while you watch it.
The clipboard is synced between machines (at least for text. I have not tried images) and that is impressive and VERY useful.
No compression artifacts. Allows me to use a windows PC with a Mac client.Cons: The Mac client needs a LOT of help. I think it's running Java? It doesn't act like a Mac citizen with nonstandard window behavior.
The thing it needs most is the ability to translate the keyboard layout to swap keys like Command/Windows key to control (Mac users trying to use shortcuts will find themselves presented with a confusing menus popping up when trying to do things like cut/paste)Overall: I would love for them to bring this fully into the Mac world with a standard window chrome and behavior, but more than that fixing the keyboard conundrum is vital. Just a menu option to map Control to the command key would be nice.

IT would be great if the window size was reported to the client so it just sent me a non-scaled window, but I don't really mind scaling the remote window down a bit to still access my desktop.
