I've tried to get into this game about 3 times now and it just feels like one of those old moon logic adventure games at times, and not in the good way. The moment a few hours in that I realized Planets change as the loop progresses I was hype at the amazing idea and the possibities for exploration! It was not long before my heart sank as I realized how tedious the exploration to find out anything at all actually was going to be.

You have to work hard to get scraps of info and after 15 hours of this I have a few threads left to follow but big picture I have no idea what is going on with the story. I have bits and peices sure but on their own they are just puzzle peices that mean nothing without the rest of the puzzle. My main issue with actually playing is my efforts to engage with the universe are met with arduously repeating the same steps over and over for hours literally on a loop looking for bits of text to scan. It's like looking for audio logs in other games but there is no audio and the logs are 80% of the story and the story is not compelling and the writers of the logs are not memorable or interesting in any way.

The controls are a bit janky all around as well, since the game is about wandering around in your ship or with your jetpack, the fact the physics feel so bouncy and controls so clunky is a rather large issue. On controller or mouse/kb neither feels good I can't put my finger on it but the movement both in ship and on foot feels like you are piloting a glass beachball with thrusters.

I think the idea of the game is amazing, but at a certain point I just don't care why anything is happening because every attempt to find out is met with another tedious puzzle to find out info about unlikable dead aliens and a thread to follow for yet another tedious puzzle. It feels very nihilistic.

It's really a puzzle/adventure game with all the baggage that entails. If you want to engage with it on it's terms, then I'm sure it feels great, but I found it so boring and tedious I didn't even find out the whys of the story and I'm ok with that cuz I bet everyone dies anyway.
