If you enjoy build crafting in other games then this may be for you.

It cuts out a lot of the tedium that can often come with other games that have similarly deep build crafting systems. It is a condensed form of other such games that often require you to put down hundreds of hours building up the resources to really start playing the actual game once you build out your theoretical build. With PoA, you just jump right in and start experimenting right away without needing to sink hundreds of hours into it.

The runs are short, highly varied, and are pretty much always fun. You are greatly rewarded for finding a good combination of culture + class + religion choice + class skills & items.

There is a high amount of replayability here too, on sale at $5 this game is a steal, I'd say it is worth its full price too if you miss the deal.

I picked up this game about a year ago and it didn't click at all so I went ahead and refunded it. Recently I started playing other traditional roguelikes and decided to give it another go, and I've had a great time with it since.

As a new player, it can be very difficult at first to understand what you're seeing on-screen (this is what put me off the first time), it took me probably two runs before I really got comfortable with recognizing what was going on, but once it clicks there's an absolutely fantastic game here.

The number of build options are staggering, and when you get dozens of effects stacking and chaining, it's incredibly satisfying. I've seen the auto-battler comparisons and they're somewhat valid, but it's turn-based around your speed stat and I'd say it's more of a strategy game, especially with all of the different ways you can deal damage.

Very highly recommend it.
