I would rate this neutral, probably. But lean positive.

I think the visual improvements are cool and I look forward to seeing what the future rooms (in the middle of the first series now) will hold. Also curious to see what the workshop is capable of this time around.

But my god, this game gives me extreme motion sickness. I have been playing games for my entire life and have never gotten motion sick from any of them, but for some reason, I cannot play this game for more than ~20 minutes without feeling like I'm going to throw up. If you are sensitive to that kind of thing, I don't think you'll be able to play this game, as I am not sensitive to it and can barely get through it.

it's pretty fun! it took me about 6.5 hours to complete the game, which is okay for the price, but does feel short for an incremental game like this. i only needed to prestige ~4 times or so to finish.

my only real complaint is that between the second to last major milestone and the end of the game (breaking through the cosmic wall and the final ascension), there wasn't really anything new to get, and it honestly just felt like i was coasting to the end at that point with what I already had. it took me like... 5 minutes? to progress between the two, so it was somewhat of an anticlimactic ending.

This is actually such a phenomenal remake! The graphics use the Talos 2 engine, so it looks gorgeous. In the main game, they revised the hint system (replacing it with something akin to what Talos 2 does, where you can skip puzzles) and adjusted how the recording / rewind machine works, and this change is HUGE.

You can now set "pause points" in recordings. This is a point where the recording will pause until you unpause it. This makes it SO MUCH LESS ANNOYING TO USE!!! Previously you'd have to wait for an arbitrary amount of time and often mess up how long something takes, but now, you never have to worry about that.

The developer commentary is really enjoyable for me, and I love hearing from the devs and their insights.

Strongly recommend this version over the original, and think its a worthwhile purchase even if you have the OG!

I am VERY excited based on this demo. Yes of course, it looks beautiful. But I also see some new content and some modifications to existing stuff that looks like it could be REALLY interesting. Here's what I noticed so far:

- Some of the secrets seem to have potentially changed how they are collected, and this likely extends to some puzzle changes too
- There is at least one new type of secret, as there is a door in the Cathedral marked with a symbol that I haven't seen before locked by tetrominos
- There is a new campaign titled "In the Beginning" (you can see this if you attempt to start a new game)
- Puzzles may have tetromino locks *inside them* (one of the puzzles in the demo has this, and though it could just be for the demo, that seems unlikely
- It's possible some teleporters may be locked behind puzzles now, as opposed to being out in the open like they used to be (though again, this could just be for the demo)

Regardless, I absolutely adored the first game and cannot wait to experience it again.

This game is just... so good? I consider myself someone who isn't a HUGE fan of roguelikes (though i end up playing them semi often), but this game is actually REALLY good. There is a lot of depth to the mechanics, and as you start to learn more and unlock more characters / cards, you start to see synergies in really fun ways!

I honestly can't put the game down. I just keep coming back to play more because I've been enjoying it so much!

Oh, and the music is just phenomenal. I actually found the game because the music happened to get recommended to me when I was listening to other video game music, and the song was so good I looked up the game. So yeah, absolutely amazing OST lol

It's still very early, but so far I'm really liking the changes that have been made. Removal of builders, the way cities expand now, the rework to city states & barbarians, etc are all changes I actually think I'm liking, and am curious to see how it continues.

The UI isn't amazing, but I think most of the reason people dislike it is because they're used to previous entries where the UI was PACKED FULL of little decorations and flairs. It's not better or worse to go with a more simple design, but I think most of the reason it feels unfinished is just because we're used to having a bunch of stuff there.

One minor thing, I have no idea how I did this, but I somehow accidentally got into a state where I disperse an independent power that I was actively trying to convert into a city state? For some reason, on one turn it's there, and the next turn it's just gone. I've reloaded the save where it happens a few times now trying to figure out why it just randomly disappears, but I cannot figure out why it's happening.

This is a super cute and really fun 3d/2d platformer hybrid! I would definitely recommend it. but... I really just have to question the primary collectible in the game. You collect little pieces of concept art/ in progress work from the game, which is super cute! But for virtually all of the ones you get in the first half of the game... It's a spoiler for stuff that happens later? Like... why would you spoil stuff that happens later with the collectible??? They absolutely should have put more thought into when you get each piece of art imo, so that you don't collect something until *after* you get a chance to see it for yourself. Other than that gripe, I think the game is cute and really fun to play.

Actually a pretty satisfying incremental! It doesn't have a lot of depth to the mechanics, but being a shorter game, it actually works really well because it doesn't force you to slog through stuff for longer than something is fun.

Especially for the price, highly recommend :))
