Pragmata
A Monumental game on an emotional level

I don’t know if it’s just the phase of life I’m in right now, but Pragmata hit me perfectly. As a parent, this game brought out feelings I have for my own son in ways I never expected.
The story is short but incredibly well-written and complete. It’s a powerful narrative that only those who truly love will fully understand. The creator of the Pragmatas had a noble purpose, the villain had his own reasons… and in the end, as always, everything comes down to human selfishness and greed.
The gameplay is innovative and intuitive. The bots are varied and genuinely fun to fight. The graphics and lunar atmosphere are magnificent, and the soundtrack is deeply emotional, it perfectly complements the story and pulls you completely into the experience.
But the biggest highlight, without a doubt, is watching the relationship between the two protagonists develop. Hugh, a man in his late 40s/early 50s with no relationships or children, ready to die alone, meets the vibrant and captivating android Diana. From a man resigned to solitude to a father willing to sacrifice everything to protect this pure being who represents the essence of love.
This is exactly what we discover when we become parents: a kind of love you can only understand by experiencing it. Pragmata captures this in every small detail, the purity of a “daughter” discovering the world, finding magic in things we adults consider ordinary. For someone who never had it, the smallest things become the greatest.
It’s beautiful and comforting to see a child (or android) with all their innocence discovering the beauty of the world through curious and joyful eyes. It’s up to us “Hughs” to protect that pure heart from all the evil around it. Many times I had tears in my eyes from the simplest dialogues and tiniest details. It’s impossible not to see your own child in them.
Pragmata shows that life is beautiful in its smallest moments. Never give up on the future, just like Hugh, you have no idea what good things it still holds for you. In just a few hours with these two characters, the protagonist discovers the true meaning and purity of life, even if that life is made of lunar filaments and advanced technology.
