I was let down previously by Moons of Madness, a lovecraftian first person horror game set on Mars. I'll admit, I'm a huge fan of sci-fi, and further still, I'm a huge fan of works inspired by lovecraft, so what should have been a slam dunk for me ended up as just a very tedious experience due to awful optimization, bland gameplay, and a design that felt dated by 2012 standards.

Why are you bringing up a completely different game, you may ask yourself. Well, it's because Observation was a complete 180 for me. I came into this knowing very little outside of a Zero Punctuation review I half remember and the splash art. My expectation was for a somewhat subdued sci-fi thriller set on a space station, because not being able to read means I can't actually look at the store page for help.

Instead? I got a game that felt tailor made for me. A game that managed to almost nail all of it's core elements in ways that made me specifically absolutely enthralled with it. It's not a game for everyone. But it's a game I've really grown to love during my playtime, and I recommend that everyone give it a shot. It sticks around exactly as long as it needs to, so you won't be pumping 30 hours into a mediocre experience. Just pick it up, give it your time, and be amazed.
