You da po?

My sister Dena (this is Douglass again) has been helping this local Band called Avenue. She will be a back-up singer, a soloist, and has basically become their band manager. The band often play at a "club" called Mojo's. Mojo's is this strange place with tons of local art, lots of broken toys, and markers that are almost out of ink. The sound mixing is horrible... The guitars and bass and drums are too loud and the microphones are far too quiet. Mojo's is across the street from the Ogden Temple. Now, I don't know how many of you are aware, but the Ogen Temple is not in the best part of Ogden. Needless to say, Dena doesn't like going to Ogden by herself. So, I come with her. That way Bryan can stay home with the kids. The band members are very sensitive to Dena's needs as a mother. So they always play really late at night. That way Dena can usually put her kids to bed. So I go as Dena's body guard. (Can you imagine me as a body guard? Weird.) After the most recent performance at Mojo's, I was taking Dena back to her house. I was in a hurry because it was nearly 2:30 in the morning... but I wasn't too much of a hurry. After turning left onto Main street in Clearfield, I was very surprised to find that there was a policeman behind me with his lights on. I pulled over. The policeman came to my window and asked if I knew why he had pulled me over. I told him that I had no idea. He asked what the speed on the road is. I told him that it was 50. He then informed me that it changes from 50 to 35. The policeman dissappeared into his car for a while. He came back and told me that he was only going to give me a warning. Relieved, I took Dena back to her house and started for home. I drove - being extra careful to observe the speed limit - back to Bountiful. I got off the freeway and quickly noticed three police cars on the side of 5th south. As I came closer, I noticed more police cars. Some cones were blocking off the road and I was waved by a policeman onto the side of the road. The policeman asked me if I had been drinking, though he couldn't smell any alcohol. I told him that I had not, unless he counted Pepsi. (I love cherry Pepsi.) He said that if he was to arrest me for drinking Pepsi that, if he were me, he would not be happy. I laughed a sort of nervous laugh as he waved me back onto 5th south. I looked back and quickly counted how many police cars there really were. I could see at least 15 cars, a large trailor, but Taco Bell got in the way. I'm fairly certain there were more. While I was driving towards our apartment, I couldn't help but think of how lucky I was. I got pulled over twice in one night and didn't get at ticket either time. At church a week ago, Stephanie told a lady in our ward about this. Her name is Michelle Mc Laughlin. She works for the highway partol. So she knew everything that went down that night. She said they made 16 arrests.

That was teh end o my story, and now I would like to tell another. I am home from church because I am sick. I've been asleep all day. I just turned on Charlie and the Chocolate Factory to keep me company. Woodstock immediately perked up and started chirping. He keeps flapping his wings as fast as he can. Not only that, but as I was typing the last sentance, he came out of his cage. He doesn't come out much and he keeps making happy chirps. Our bird is cute. And he just ran back into his cage. I looked at him... but he's still chirping happilly because of the movie. We also learned that he likes the X-files (convienient eh?), Transformers, sports, when we brush our teeth, and the flushing of the toilet. Other than that, he likes to keep to himself.

Our Newest Addition

So, this last Friday, we purchased a lovely little parakeet. We named him Woodstock, after the cute little yellow bird from Peanuts. The first few days were a bit dodgy, but I think we are to the point where he trusts us. It seems he is not opposed to the idea of finger training, which is nice. :) He also managed to hold still for one picture.

Oh Happy Day!!!

In my family growing up (this is Doug - by the way), it was tradition to have both my parents tell their stories of the day we were born. Well, this isn't my birthday, nor is it Stephanie's... but tomorrow (it's 10:00, so tomorrow will be happening very soon) is our anniversary. I won't lie, I have no idea what I was doing two years ago tonight. I thought it involved recovering from working in Stephanie's parents' yard in preparation for our reception that was to happen in their back-yard. But Stephanie (the one of the two of us with the memory) said that wasn't the case because it was already raining. (It actually snowed on our wedding night - go figure.) She thinks that I was working on the wedding video like mad. I was awesome and decided to make it myself. Hm... I'm not known for making life easier for myself. Stephanie is the best.

Well, it is officially really late and I just can't type anymore. There comes a time when I find myself hitting the backspace buttong more than any other. This is the time to stop...

Best part of blogging!

So, yes, I am working on the blog again this morning, doing some much-needed procrastination. I have decided the best part about blogging is that, when you visit your friends' blogs, you may also have the opportunity to see other friends' blogs, and that is a happy thing. :) I love it, actually. I've already seen a whole bunch of blogs from fellow Nauvooligans, Kaysvillains, and people in between. It's exciting- I had no idea blogging could be so much fun!

My plans for today include more yoga, "practicing" oboe, and an Elders Quorum barbeque- Doug is going to make his homemade marshmallows, and I am so excited. He has turned me into a marshmallow snob- only his homemade marshmallows will do. YUM!

And, if Alisha reads this, yes I still hate donuts, especially Hostess Powdered Donuts. :)

Last post of the evening

So friends, after 2.5 hours of wandering the interwebs, I have officially decided that my eyes are tired and therefore I'm going to stop blogging for the night. It is a lot of fun, even for people like me who don't post much of interest. I'd just like to leave a quickie update.

Highlights of my summer:
Sarah and Jon and fam and fireworks!
Stacy and Greg!
Yellowstone!
IKEA (lame, I know, but what do you expect from an addict?)
Doug! (he is always the brightest part of "all the days")

Projects I am currently working on:
The Old Testament (reading it, not writing it, ha ha)
Pillow covers for our couch- going on 3 months now...
Learning to drive stick- I am such a chicken!
Learning yoga- to cope with the stress and tension of learning to drive stick (he he he)
Bachelor of General Studies program- the Y without Provo- yes!!!!!
Our blog :)

Life is good! -Steph

Me-again!

Progress! I have successfully added a few friends to the blog list, hoping to add more soon. If you don't see your blog on the list yet, fear not! It is a work in progress!

Yay! I'm posting again!

So, this month has been a whirlwind, and to wind down (ha ha), I have decided to expiriment with the blog and see if I can make it more interesting! After Yellowstone and the Olympics, I have decided to do a little better in every area of life I can manage, so here goes!

Testing – one, two, three…

Well, I have never, officially blogged before. I have no idea how this is supposed to work, but I figured – what the heck… I might as well try since people ask about our half-way, non-existent blog all the time. So, while I sit here on Sunday evening watching Lady in the Water, I have decided to give something new a shot. So, now the blog probably looks dumb and boring, but, cut me a little slack – I've never done this before.

Stephanie and I went on a little spree this week. For Stephanie's birthday (which is on Wednesday) we went and got a new entertainment center. However, the one that Stephanie really wanted is only made for flat-screen TVs… so he had to go get a new TV too. I sure think it's great. It reminded me a little of the kid who gave his mom a hockey stick for her birthday and then asked if he could use it. I know; I'm terrible. (Steph is in the other room, so she can't stop me from saying things like that. Heh heh heh. So I spent yesterday killing people on the PS3 in high definition!

I have to admit, this movie puts me into a very introspective and thoughtful mood. Do you ever see those movies that inspire you to be something beyond what you currently are? I watch this and I feel like screaming with the urge to write, draw, clean, read, and fly. I want to be a better person and help everyone I meet. But alas, I always fall short. Do you ever feel like if you have a dream and you think about it all the time, that those are the things that are never realized? Wow, this is sounding far too sappy for a blog.

YAY! The Fourth of July is coming up and I am thrilled. Stephanie loves the fireworks and I love not having to work.

Um…

So…

Seriously? I don't know what is appropriate for this. Do I tell you that my sister got a puppy and I love it? Both of my sisters now have dogs and I am feeling very left out. Martha hates her dog… and I would take it, but we can't have pets. Oh, what terrible fortune I have to not be able to have a "lidda pup" in this apartment. So, hear me and hear me well – I will have a dog someday and it will be the freakin' best dog in all the land. I don't think that Dena or Martha have mentioned their dogs on their blogs… but not only do I never write on blogs, but I never check other people's blogs. POW TAKE THAT!

Okay, are you still reading this? My life is far too boring for you to care this much. I go to work and deal with people's medical bills. Some days I even go to the doctor's offices and pick their deposits and mail. Steph and I clean the building where we work on Monday and Wednesday evenings. I go and write with my friend Kollin. His wife has a blog – I don't know what it is. Heck, if this even posts, I'll amazed. Kollin, Greg, and I kill aliens and bad-guys on video games on the weekends. We go to church and teach the Gospel Principles class. We are typically interrupted by an older man in our class who like the "deeper" points of doctrine. Today's lesson was on the Sabbath Day. He brought up that there were six creative periods and a resting period – but not seven "days." He brings it up every time.

I love this movie. "Ma. MA!" Heh heh heh. I love the relationship between Yung Soon and her mother. If you haven't seen this movie, you suck just a little bit. It's not scary or anything. It's meant to be a bedtime story for the director's daughters. Does anyone know how to pronounce his name? Anyway, it's not scary – it's just very transcendent. In my opinion this is M. Night Symalahn's best… no, his name isn't spelled right, just deal with it. But the movie is fabulous. The only other movie that makes me feel like this was American Beauty. Now, of the two, Lady in the Water is much better because you don't have to deal with the nudity, sex, violence, drugs, and language that American Beauty has. The point that the writers and the director were making in American Beauty was really good… but it was FILLED with absolute crap. So, save yourself the trouble and just watch Lady in the Water instead. Happiness!

Stephanie is super hot. If you didn't know this, you are either blind, or you don't ever look at girls like that. And you women, don't tell me that "you don't think of girls like that" because I know that you would be lying. Girls all the time are like "Oh my gosh you are like super cute." Trust me, on my side of the office it is just me, Greg, and a bunch of girls. Holy crap. So, I am an expert about this. So you girls can accept the fact that Stephanie is super gorgeous. You guys – though I doubt there are many of you because blogging seems like more of a girl thing – I'll allow you to accept the hotness of my wife, but I better not catch you checking her out. That is my job.

Stephanie, stop reading this or else you are going to tickle me.

NO… No… AAAAAAAAAHHHHHHH!!! HEH HEH HAA! No stop! No… I take it back! I TAKE IT BACK! The TV was for you too. I don't suck. And you continue to be hot.

Whoa- we have a blog!

Hey folks,
So, I am home and sick today, and decided to break down and make a blog. Doug and I voted on the title while he was driving home for lunch! It is so much fun to go to other people's blogs and see what is going on in their lives, so maybe this will be a good way to keep in touch with everyone. Life is good. Ciao!
