Israel is winning the war but losing the world

The Telegraph, August 30, 2024

Event

The confrontations in the West Bank starkly illustrate the challenges Israel faces today on the world stage. Even before October 7 the level of violence there was on the rise. Since Hamas’s murderous invasion along the Gaza border, terrorist aggression in the West Bank has increased further.  We see this same picture with Gaza, Lebanon and Iran. Israel has been attacked on all fronts and has responded in each case, both defensively and offensively, with tactical brilliance. Yet it has also been condemned repeatedly for doing so, in the media, in international bodies and in Western capitals. The traditional response among political leaders and diplomats always begins with

“Israel has the right to defend itself but…”

before the predictable calls for restraint and ceasefires, topped off by the obligatory mumblings about a “two-state solution”. The sort of restraint demanded has never been asked of any other country under attack. Israel is winning its multi-front war but it is far from clear that its so-called allies in the West want it to do so.

Comment

The long-term political warfare campaign to delegitimise Israel through spurious actions in the international courts, mobilise widespread protest and generate hostile media coverage has been so successful that many world leaders are afraid to stand up against it. Since October 7th Israel has almost become a pariah state in many people’s eyes and despite the fact she is fighting for survival against enemies that wish to destroy her world leaders continue to side with the Palestinians.

The Bible indicates that Israel is completely isolated in the world at the time of the end. The Bible says that all nations will be drawn to Jerusalem to battle. Israel ultimately will have to rely on God and accept the Lord Jesus when he returns. This will only come about when Israel is brought very low.

Bible quote

There is none to plead thy cause, that thou mayest be bound up: thou hast no healing medicines. All thy lovers have forgotten thee; they seek thee not; for I have wounded thee with the wound of an enemy, with the chastisement of a cruel one, for the multitude of thine iniquity; because thy sins were increased. (Jeremiah 30:13-14)

Gaza ceasefire: Biden says deal ‘must get done’

Gaza ceasefire: Biden says deal ‘must get done’

The Times, June 4, 2024

Event

President Biden has said the ceasefire deal between Israel and Hamas “must get done” as the US sought support from the UN to back the proposal.

“We are working for a ceasefire and hostage deal that would allow the United States and our partners to begin the work to rebuild homes, schools and hospitals in Gaza to help repair communities destroyed in the chaos of war. This deal must get done,”

Biden tweeted on Twitter/X. The comments come after the US circulated a one-page draft resolution to the UN Security Council to back the three-phase truce, which seeks to free all hostages, allow aid into the territory and end the almost eight-month war in Gaza.

“We call on Hamas to accept this deal, that Israel is ready to move forward with, and we urge countries with influence over Hamas to help ensure that it does so,”

the group, which includes the US and the UK, wrote in a joint statement. Yet the Israeli prime minister Binyamin Netanyahu has signalled to local media that the deal is conditional, saying the country will only agree to a ceasefire that includes the elimination of Hamas.

Comment

Since October 7th 2023 and the terrible Hamas attack on Israel, Biden has tried to cajole, coax and pressure Netanyahu to engage in discussions about a deal to end the war. The White House set deadlines and even red lines all of which faded. This latest and possibly final throw of the dice to get a deal looks likely to fail.  Netanyahu said

“claims that we agreed to a ceasefire without our conditions being met are incorrect”.

He reiterated that the primary aim of the war was “the elimination of Hamas”. Israel remains determined to remove the pricking brier of Hamas. The Bible says that this will happen. Despite international pressure Israel’s nearby enemies will be destroyed.

Bible quote

And there shall be no more a pricking brier unto the house of Israel, nor any grieving thorn of all that are round about [surrounding / nearby] them, that despised them; and they shall know that I am the Lord GOD. (Ezekiel 28:24)

A multi-front war between Israel and her surrounding, nearby enemies

A multi-front war between Israel and her surrounding, nearby enemies

The Israeli military has established a new mountaineer unit tasked with carrying out operations across the country’s hostile borders with Lebanon and Syria amid worsening tensions over the ongoing war in the Gaza Strip.

“We are in a multi-front war—Lebanon, Syria, Judea and Samaria, and Gaza, and also farther away,”

IDF Chief of the General Staff Lieutenant General Herzi Halevi said during a visit to the Israel-occupied Benyamin region of the West Bank on Friday March 15.
The Bible says there will be a multi-front war between Israel and her surrounding, nearby enemies. Included in this inner ring war are Hamas, Hezbollah, Palestinians in general, Jordan and Syria. Israel is preparing for conflict with all these people and nations. As the war on Hamas nears its end Israel will turn its attention to their other enemies..

Israel will not abide by the breakthrough United Nations security council ceasefire resolution to halt the fighting in Gaza for the holy month of Ramadan. Benny Gantz, an Israeli war cabinet member, said that the resolution had “no operational significance for Israel” as the military continued to operate in the Gaza Strip

“Israel has a moral obligation to continue fighting until the hostages are returned and the threat of Hamas is removed and that is what we will do. The security council’s decision has no operational significance for us,”

Gantz wrote on social media

Relations between President Biden and Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu of Israel appear to have sunk to a new low, with both men pressed hard by domestic politics and looming elections. Israel is almost entirely isolated in the world now with all countries calling on Israel to halt its attacks on Hamas. Israel on the other hand is determined that Hamas must be destroyed. The media depict this as a war that Netanyahu is charging ahead with regardless of public opinion. But this is not true. The vast majority of those living in Israel support the national unity government. The Bible says that the nearby enemies of Israel will be destroyed. We may be witnessing the start of the inner ring war.

Hinting at Israel’s alleged overnight airstrike in Syria, Defense Minister Yoav Gallant says the military will

“expand the campaign [against Hezbollah] and increase the rate of attacks in the north.”

“Israel is turning from defending to pursuing Hezbollah, we will reach wherever the organization operates, in Beirut, Damascus and in more distant places,”

Gallant says following an assessment at the IDF Northern Command in Safed. In the past day, a top Hezbollah commander was killed in an IDF drone strike in southern Lebanon, and five other Hezbollah terrorists were among 38 dead in alleged Israeli airstrikes in Syria’s Aleppo. Sixty-eight percent of Israeli Jews want more aggressive military action against Hezbollah, with 42 percent advocating “broad military activity even at the cost of regional war,” according to the INSS polling. Sixty-seven percent say diplomacy alone will enable northerners to come home.

Hamas remains in the sights of Israel and they have vowed to destroy them. But it will not end there. The next target is Hezbollah based in Lebanon to the north of Israel. Hezbollah also call for the destruction of Israel and are 10 times more powerful than Hamas and a real threat to Israel.

Israel cannot afford another October 7th and therefore have decided they can no longer have this threat on their border.

Zechariah 12 speaks of the people “round about” or “nearby” or ”surrounding” being burned up by the governors (leaders) of Jerusalem while Jerusalem remains secure. This is the initial inner ring war that comes BEFORE Russia and Iran invade Israel. There is vacuum created when Israel “win” this war. Remember these enemies of Israel are allies of Russia so when they are removed Russia takes vengeance on them…

Syria at some point will also get drawn into the inner ring war. Israel is attacking Syria especially around Damascus on a weekly almost daily basis. Until recently Russia has turned a blind eye to this but in recent days has become far more hostile to Israel’s actions. The Bible says that Damascus will be removed from being city. Jeremiah says that all the men of war will be killed in one day in that city. Something terrible is coming to Syria that will see the nation fail as a state. Syria is a key ally of Russa who has a naval base and many military bases in the country. When Syria fails due to Israel’s overwhelming attack Russia will decide to enter the void that is left and invade Israel…

Bible quote

Damascus has grown feeble; She turns to flee, And fear has seized her. Anguish and sorrows have taken her like a woman in labor.  Why is the city of praise not deserted, the city of My joy? Therefore her young men shall fall in her streets, And all the men of war shall be cut off in that day,” says the Lord of hosts.  “I will kindle a fire in the wall of Damascus,” (Jeremiah 49:24-27 NKJV)

The Lord, who stretches out the heavens, who lays the foundation of the earth, and who forms the human spirit within a person, declares:  “I am going to make Jerusalem a cup that sends all the surrounding peoples reeling. Judah will be besieged as well as Jerusalem (Zechariah 12:1-2 NIV)

“On that day I will make the clans of Judah like a firepot in a woodpile, like a flaming torch among sheaves. They will consume all the surrounding peoples right and left, but Jerusalem will remain intact in her place. (Zechariah 12:6)

This describes the inner ring war.

Are we witnessing the opening salvos of World War 3?

The Independent, January 19, 2024

Event

It is hard to escape the impression of a theatre of military conflict that is inexorably growing – to the east and the south, if not yet to the north and the west. And if you look backwards, rather than forwards, the Hamas massacres of Israelis on 7 October, and Israel’s all-out military response, can be seen as turning the tiny sliver of the Gaza Strip into the epicentre of a conflict that could embrace regions many hundreds of miles further afield.

The Hamas attacks of October were followed by dire warnings that this could be the spark that ignited a regional conflagration; that it was only a matter of time before Iran became directly involved – probably through its proxy, Hezbollah, in southern Lebanon – and that, before long, you could be standing on the threshold of the next world war.

Comment

David Cameron a previous prime minister of Britain is now the UK’s foreign secretary. He warned this week:

“It is hard to think of a time when there has been so much danger and insecurity and instability in the world. The lights are absolutely flashing red on the global dashboard and what we need at that time is strong leadership and a plan and that is what we have with the prime minister and the team in place.”

He is right – we are at time of danger, insecurity and instability in the world.
The lights are flashing red.
The world does need strong leadership. However, the leadership required is not that of worldly leaders and their armies. It is the leadership of Christ and the hosts (armies) of heaven. In fact we are told specifically that judgement will come on the “ships of Tarshish” (Britain). It comes at a time when Lebanon and southern Syria is also judged. These events herald the return of Jesus to the earth and the establishment of God’s kingdom.

Bible quote

For the day of the LORD of hosts shall be upon every one that is proud and lofty, and upon every one that is lifted up; and he shall be brought low: And upon all the cedars of Lebanon, that are high and lifted up, and upon all the oaks of Bashan (south Syria).., And upon all the ships of Tarshish, and upon all pleasant pictures (should be translated “desirable ships!”). Britain and US launch airstrikes on Houthi targets

Britain and US launch airstrikes on Houthi targets

The Times, January 12, 2024

Event

Explosions were heard across Yemen late on Thursday night as British and US forces launched strikes on Houthi targets, after the Iranian-backed group ignored warnings to stop attacking ships in the Red Sea. Rishi Sunak, who had authorised the military action hours earlier and briefed ministers in an emergency cabinet meeting, said the situation could not be allowed to stand. He said the UK had taken

“limited, necessary and proportionate action in self-defence”.

President Biden said that Australia, Bahrain, Canada, the Netherlands, Denmark, Germany, New Zealand and South Korea had also provided backing. Saba, the Yemeni press agency, reported attacks in the capital, Sanaa.

“These strikes are in direct response to unprecedented Houthi attacks against international maritime vessels in the Red Sea … These attacks have endangered US personnel, civilian mariners, and our partners, jeopardised trade, and threatened freedom of navigation,”

President Biden said.

Comment

The war between Israel and Hamas has escalated once again. Now it has spread to a direct conflict between the US/UK and the Houthis based in Yemen. The Houthis have said they are attacking ships in the Red Sea in support of the Palestinians and will only stop when Israel stops its war. The Houthis have been armed with sophisticated missiles and weapons from Iran. In Joel 3 we read of this situation. God speaks of the final conflict over Israel in this chapter. He asks (almost sarcastically)

“what have you to do with me O Tyre and Zidon, and all the coasts of Palestine?”

Tyre = Hezbollah and coasts of Palestine = Hamas in Gaza. But then we read in verse 8 that these people will be sold to the Sabeans – a people far off. Their kingdom was called Saba in Yemen!

Bible quote

Yea, and what have ye to do with me, O Tyre, and Zidon [Hezbollah], and all the coasts of Palestine? [Hamas] will ye render me a recompence? ….I return your recompence upon your own head;  And I will sell your sons and your daughters into the hand of the children of Judah, and they shall sell them to the Sabeans [Yemen], to a people far off: for the LORD hath spoken it. Biden draws direct link between Putin and Hamas

Biden draws direct link between Putin and Hamas

Event

Guardian, October 20, 2023

Joe Biden has drawn a direct, provocative link between Russia’s invasion of Ukraine and Hamas’s attack on Israel as he urged Americans not to walk away from their role as “a beacon to the world”. In only the second Oval Office address of his presidency, Biden said he would ask Congress to provide aid for both Israel and Ukraine and denounced the scourge of antisemitism and Islamophobia at home.

The president’s 15-minute address sought to weave the Ukraine and Middle East conflicts together to convince war-weary voters and hardline Republicans of America’s obligations. It is a conflation that will make some uneasy, especially as Israel, with vastly superior military power, prepares for a ground invasion of Gaza.

“Hamas and Putin represent different threats, but they share this in common: they both want to completely annihilate a neighboring democracy,”

said Biden, sitting at the Resolute desk with flags, family photos, gold curtains and a darkened window behind him.

Comment

The duel crises of war in Ukraine and Israel are providing a daunting diplomatic test for America. Biden flew to Israel on whirlwind trip to show his support for Israel. On his return he made his second only address to the nation on prime time TV. His message was that the USA had to stand with Israel and Ukraine. He also said that both wars were linked. Putin and Hamas both wanted to destroy a neighbouring democracy.

With Bible in hand we know they are connected and will become ever more so. Putin is currently attacking a Jewish leadership in Ukraine and calling them Nazi’s. Ukraine is the only country in the world (apart from Israel) with a Jewish president and prime minister. Putin will one day invade Israel itself and take a spoil. The wars are connected.

Bible Quote

A long time from now you will be called into action. In the distant future you will swoop down on the land of Israel, which will be enjoying peace after recovering from war and after its people have returned from many lands to the mountains of Israel. (Ezekiel 38:8 NLT)

Notice Gog/Putin invades Israel when Israel is recovering from war (the inner ring war). Israel is then living in peace.

Hezbollah praises Hamas, says attack is message to Arab countries normalizing ties with Israel

Hamas launched a surprise attack Saturday morning unprecedented in its scope and deadly impact. The phrase “It’s chaos” was heard repeatedly, from newsreaders, from families and occasionally from people caught in the raids, whispering desperately into their phones.

Event

The Times of Israel, October 7, 2023

Hezbollah praises the massive Hamas operation against Israel, and says it is message to Arab countries normalizing with Israel. The terror group Hezbollah says it is in direct contact with the Hamas leadership in Gaza and abroad, and calls on Arab and Muslim peoples around the world to declare their support to Hamas and the Palestinian people, adding that armed resistance is the only way to confront the Israeli “aggression.” Hezbollah adds that the “Al-Aqsa Deluge” operation launched by Hamas against Israel is a message to the international community and the Arab and Muslim world, in particular those countries seeking normalization with Israel. It also calls on the Israeli government to learn the “important lessons” taught by the “Palestinian resistance.”

Comment

Hamas are calling this war the “Al-Aqsa deluge” or “Al-Aqsa storm”. It is interesting they are giving it this title. Al-Aqsa refers to the Al-Aqsa Mosque situated on Temple Mount next to the Dome of the Rock. The Temple Mount is the actual site of the first and second Jewish Temples. The first temple was destroyed by Nebuchadnezzar and the second one was destroyed by the Romans in CE 70.

Thumbnail for State of PalestineHamas believe that Jerusalem should be the capital of a Palestinian State and that Israel should be destroyed as a nation. The centre of their rage and anger is centred on Temple Mount in Jerusalem. This is interesting because in Zechariah 12 we are told that God wil

“make Jerusalem a cup of trembling to all the people round about.”

One version says

“I will make Jerusalem like an intoxicating drink that makes the nearby nations stagger.”

In other words Jerusalem will make nearby people (Hamas!) act crazy as if drunk / out of their minds. These nearby people go mad. And it causes Jerusalem to be a burden for all…

Bible Quote

This message concerning the fate of Israel came from the Lord:

“This message is from the Lord, who stretched out the heavens, laid the foundations of the earth, and formed the human spirit. I will make Jerusalem like an intoxicating drink that makes the nearby nations stagger when they send their armies to besiege Jerusalem and Judah (Zechariah 12:1-2)

– this is the inner ring war

Iran nuclear talks on brink of collapse, diplomats warn

Iran nuclear talks on brink of collapse, diplomats warn

The Times, January 21, 2022

Western negotiators have said that talks to rescue the Iran nuclear deal are on the point of collapse because Tehran’s nuclear programme is advancing faster than diplomatic progress towards an agreement. After talks on Thursday, Jean-Yves Le Drian, the French foreign minister, said the discussions were in a “life-threatening emergency”.

“There is partial, timid and slow progress, but negotiations cannot continue at such a slow pace while, in parallel, Iran’s nuclear programme advances so rapidly,”

he said. President Biden said this week that the talks were moving forward and it was not time to give up. However, European negotiators have been warning for months that there is little sign of a deal being struck any time soon. Antony Blinken, the US secretary of state, said that western powers might withdraw from the talks soon.

“We are indeed at a decisive moment,”

he said.

It seems as if many crisis’s are all coming to a head at the same time. Not only is Ukraine on the brink of war – possibly the most serious event since World War 2 – we also have Iran talks on the edge of a cliff as well. It is no coincidence that all these things are coming together at once.

The Bible says the world will enter a time of trouble such as never was. It makes sense then that multiple crisis’s will develop at the same time. Iran is the power behind the initial inner ring war involving Israel’s neighbours – Hamas, Hezbollah, Syria. This deal (or lack of it) could spark this inner ring war around Israel. As one commentator put it..

“The Iranians, under their new president, Ebrahim Raisi, smell weakness, especially since the rushed western exit from Afghanistan. In Biden, they see a president with no fight. And they want comprehensive revenge…”

In the Bible we find

Say to the nations far and wide:

“Get ready for war! Call out your best warriors. Let all your fighting men advance for the attack. Hammer your plowshares into swords and your pruning hooks into spears. Train even your weaklings to be warriors. Come quickly, all you nations everywhere. Gather together in the valley.” (Joel 3:9-11 NLT)

We are living in a time of “universal deceit”

From Bible in the news

Honest Reporting recently rounded off an examination of instances of YouTube banning content by saying:

“To paraphrase a quote wrongly attributed to Orwell but which resonates strongly today as we seemingly edge towards the dystopian society that he predicted: ‘In a time of universal deceit, telling the truth is a revolutionary act.’”

We are living in a time of “universal deceit”, this is exactly what the Lord Jesus said it would be in Revelation 16. Jesus specifically warned his servants who would be living just before his coming, that it would be a time of deceit and falsehood.

Media Bias and against Israel

The staged protest at NablusThe protest staged for the media near Nablus.

An image of the staged protest available on Getty Images.

During the recent war when Israel was attacked by Hamas in Gaza, there were many examples of deceit in the media. The mainstream media as usual, emphasized Israel’s operations in Gaza against the terrorist organization Hamas, over the 4300 + rockets fired by Hamas at Israeli civilian centres. Here are some examples of deceptive media reports during the conflict.

A CNN analysis was entitled

“Hell has been unleashed in Gaza”

and is typical of the type of the reporting on Israel in the mainstream media. Reading the analysis any logical person would think that Israel had unleashed hell on Gaza. However, Hamas had started the war and by the time of the “analysis” had fired well over 1000 missiles targeting Israeli civilian centres. In order to find this out, you have to read to about halfway through. Seeing that on average only 16% of people read a webpage word for word and seeing that readers will on average only read 20% of the text on a page, most CNN readers will never know this. The analysis does state near the beginning that,

“Since Monday evening, Israel’s aerial operation has left more than 60 Gazans dead, militants among them, but more civilians, according to figures from the Gaza-based Palestinian health ministry. More than a dozen of them were children.”

A few crucial pieces of information are missing from this sentence. First the “Gaza-based Palestinian health ministry” is operated by the terrorist group Hamas — their numbers simply cannot be trusted. Secondly at least half of the quoted number of casualties of children were killed by a rocket fired by Hamas that didn’t reach its target. The Al Mezan Center for Human Rights in Gaza documented a Hamas rocket that fell short of its target and killed 8 civilians including 6 children.

Another one of the images from the staged protest on Getty, notice the ambulance in the background taking away the “wounded”.

Seeing that the terror organizations fire their rockets from civilian areas away from the periphery of the region, the rockets have to travel over civilian areas in Gaza before reaching Israel. During the war in Gaza, Hamas and Islamic Jihad fired, as already stated, 4,300+ rockets, targeting Israeli civilian centres. 680 of these misfired and exploded inside Gaza, killing and injuring the civilian population of Gaza.

The analysis also misrepresents the blockade of Gaza, stating,

“Cut off from the rest of the world by an Israeli blockade of Gaza’s land, air and sea dating back to 2007, many of Gaza’s inhabitants are dependent on foreign aid to survive.”

It is true that Israel blockades Gaza to stop them acquiring arms, and the tools and materials to manufacture rockets. However, Gaza borders not only Israel but also Egypt. Egypt imposes the same blockade on Gaza. Israel lets a constant stream of aid material into the strip.

The New York Times is an influential newspaper with a circulation of about 375,000. On May 28 the cover of the New York Times featured pictures of children that were killed in the Gaza conflict. The headline was “They Were Just Children”. The introductory text reads,

“At least 67 people under age 18 in Gaza and two in Israel were killed during this months conflict according to initial reports. They had wanted to be doctors, artists and leaders. Read their stories.”

How much information the New York Times had unearthed to report on their stories is doubtful. The third picture on the top row featured a picture of a little 6 year old girl. However, doing a search by image on Google of her returned results back in 2018 when she had apparently been killed also. The anonymous girl has been used countless times to falsely accuse Israel of killing children. Again one of the main sources for the article was the Hamas-run Gaza Health Ministry. One of the “children” was a 17 year old fighter in the Hamas terror organization. Not readily apparent, but once again, a number of the victims were killed by Hamas terror rockets that did not make it. There is only one answer for such shoddy biased reporting and that is that it is not shoddy, but carefully crafted in a way to make Israel into the aggressor.

During the recent Gaza conflict there were demonstrations elsewhere in Israel in support of Gaza. Two Christians who do a podcast called the Joshua and Caleb report came across and documented a staged demonstration near the large Palestinian city of Nablus. There were a couple of Israeli soldiers quite far away casually watching, but otherwise there was no Israeli presence. Only a number of the press and many protesters throwing rocks at no one except an empty road. Yet there were constant “protesters” being taken away in Ambulances. The pictures from this staged protest are now available for sale on Getty Images, one of the largest suppliers of news images in the world. The Getty caption says,

“Palestinian protesters confront Israeli troops at the Hawara checkpoint south of Nablus city in the occupied West Bank on May 18, 2021, during a demonstration in support of those under bombardment in Gaza.”

This is a total fraud. There were no Israeli troops being confronted. There were no Israel defence forces or riot police to hurt protesters, yet the “wounded” were being taken away in ambulances. The press knew this was the case, but reported a complete fraud.

At the root of this bias is a believe that the Palestinian Arabs have a moral right to the land of Israel. That justice is on their side. It is believed that the Jewish state is a result of “colonialism” and that the Jewish people have no right to the land. Any historical connection of the Jewish Hebrew people to the land is denied. This is in effect calling the God of Israel unjust, unjust for bringing the Jewish people back to their ancient land. This is the spirit will bring the nations to Armageddon.

The trending hashtag on social media during the conflict was #freepalestine. What this means as seen on placards at demonstrations all over the world, is to “free Palestine from the river to the sea”. This is a call for the total destruction of the state of Israel. It is in effect a call for another Holocaust of the Jewish people. It is the hashtag of Armageddon.

(Zacharia 14:1-3)
