Another Quick Finish
Still stitching for fun…..another bookmark. I thought you might like to see just how this design developed. I never know when I start what the finished design will look like. I just start with a favorite stitch, in this case a scotch over 4, then added a Smyrna stitch over 4, now small cross stitches over 1 etc.

There are 4 threads used in this design. 1st a gold pearl cotton #5. 2nd Silk & Colors, dark blue. 3rd Watercolors, yellow to gold. 4th Silk & Colors, light blue.
You ready to stitch for fun? More soon.
Happy Stitching…..🌹
2nd Finish….

I hated to see this finished….now what? However this is how I feel almost every time I finish a project.
I sat in my living room looking at my WIP tub and none of them spoke to me. I just wanted to stitch ‼️
I went back to a favorite…..design as I stitch. Most of you will remember this from past posts. I grabbed a piece of scrap canvas, selected a couple of threads and started stitching.

I began with the yellow Watercolors in the center and went from there. Now it’s done …… 🤪 just two days of fun stitching.
I live in an independent living 62+ facility. We have a great library and when I get several bookmarks stitched I put them in the library for fellow residents. They always disappear. I love knowing they have found a home.
Stitches Ribbon Sampler

This project is a good reminder of how I need to pay attention to details. The first thing I discovered was that although the canvas came with threads …. It had not been kitted with the recommended threads. Like I do occasionally, someone had pulled threads based on color and texture. And all the colors had not been selected. The craziest thing I discovered was that the canvas orientation did not match the photo. It was upside down 🙃 The canvas identifiers were put on the bottom of the canvas when it was upside down. Make sense? This was discovered when I started matching area numbers with the photo….and had to turn the chart upside down for the designs to match.

I am enjoying the stitching. Simple stitches and color combinations. I have been fortunate enough to find threads in my stash that I can use to complete the kit.
Seeing how the stitches look has given me some idea of how I might use these stitches on other canvases. I will finish it very soon……then something else 👏👏👏
Happy stitching to all of you.
Painted Stitches Ribbon Sampler

I’m going for easy and no thinking. I found this small painted canvas when I was searching my stash. It was kitted and has a stitch guide. It is also on 14ct canvas…..I’ve never stitched on such a large count canvas.
The design size is 6” X 6”. Threads are Vinyard Silk, Vinyard Wool, Silk &Ivory, Gumnut with some Frosty Rays and Sparkle Rays. The large count canvas will make the threads look good. I think it will be a quick project.
More soon…..Happy Stitching
Rainforest Revisited……DONE
My first finish for 2026. I looked back at my start date and realized that I completed this in three months. I’m a little sad that it’s done…
Within every project there are memories that stand out. In the photo below…the star on the right will always be remembered. It’s not a difficult square but the instructions called for cutting a thread length of 5 yards…..yes that’s 5 yards…it’s not a typo. The reason being that the star was done with long overlapping stitches and it would be difficult to stop and start again. It did take all of the 5 yards 😃

With me there is always one area of most projects that just drives me crazy and takes more time than it should…..
Below is that square. I just kept reading the chart wrong…using the wrong thread….ripping and restitching. I put the project aside a couple of times and finally just kept at it until was done! Then poured myself a glass of wine 🍷.

Here is the full finished design. I think each one of these squares could be done as a stand alone ornament. Each square is 2 inches in size.

Now I’m wondering what to start next….. It’s always fun to go through my WIP’s and decide if I’m ever really going to finish each one of them.
Then I head to my few painted canvases….am I in the mood for decision making.
Next I head to my stack of counted needlepoint charts. Then when I’m totally confused I will rely on what seems like fun to do this time……

Until next time…..have fun with your stitching.
Rainforest Revisited Progress
Well, I knew it had been awhile since I posted but I didn’t realize I missed a whole month, almost two months ‼️ I guess with all the holidays I just stitched and forgot about posting.
I hope everyone had a Happy Thanksgiving and a Merry Christmas. I enjoyed the holidays again this year with my daughter and son-in-law. It is still a blessing that I was able to move closer to them.

As you can see I have been putting time in on this project. It is so much fun. It is like having 32 small projects. Each square has its own personality. Some were just plain fun and a few were a challenge.
Most threads are Watercolors with two floss-like threads (to be stranded) and two Kreinik braids (#12). The metallic almost gets lost, as it used very little.
As I get close to the end I am already thinking about what will be next…….
Have a safe and happy New Year’s Eve 🎉🎉🎉🎉 . I’ll be back in the new year. Thanks for being along with me on my journeys.
