Enterprise relationship with Planner and Inbox content

On the new Trello, each user gets their own Planner and Inbox to work on. In most cases, the content within those features is owned by the account owner’s themselves, and therefore can be accessed freely without any conditions or restrictions. However, for users who are managed by a Trello Enterprise and have an Enterprise license (also known as a licensed user), the content within those features becomes owned by the Enterprise instead, which has important implications on what happens to this content during a user’s Enterprise lifecycle.

Getting managed and licensed for the first time

When a user first enters the state of becoming both managed and licensed, by having their account claimed and being granted an Enterprise license, the content within their Planner and Inbox gets transferred under the Enterprise instance. From this point onward, being managed and licensed becomes a requirement for accessing this content.

Getting un-managed and un-licensed

When a user that is managed and licensed either gets their account unclaimed, or their Enterprise license revoked, they will lose access to all content they had within their Planner and Inbox. This is because that content is considered as owned by the Enterprise.

At this point, the user may continue to use these features by adding new content to them, which will remain under their own ownership unless their account gets managed and licensed once again.

Getting re-managed or re-licensed

When a user that had their account unclaimed or their license revoked gets their account claimed again, or is granted a new license, the content within their Planner and Inbox gets transferred under the Enterprise instance again, and the user also regains access to any old Enterprise Inbox content they had before their account was unclaimed/un-licensed.

Currently, when getting re-managed or re-licensed, the user only regains access to old Enterprise Inbox content. Regaining access to old Enterprise Planner content will be implemented soon.
