Activate & set up a SIM kit

Order a SIM card

You can buy your new Google Fi SIM kit from certain retailers or place an order at fi.google.com.

To order a SIM card:

  1. On your device, sign in to the Google Fi website.
  2. Order a SIM card.
    • If you don't find the option:
      1. Open an incognito tab.
      2. Sign in again.
  3. On the review page, enter your payment and shipping information. Your shipping options vary by date and price. Faster arrival dates have higher shipping costs.
  4. To complete the checkout, select Buy.

After you complete the steps, you receive a confirmation email. When the order ships, you get a separate shipping confirmation email with tracking info.

Join a group

If you have a SIM kit, you can join other groups. However, different billing dates may shorten your purchase’s duration. Whether you must give up any duration depends on the anniversary date of the group you join.

If you join a group as a SIM kit user, your remaining Google Fi bill credits convert to credits that apply to your monthly statement. This changes the credits from months to dollars.

Understand fee changes when you add a member

When you buy a SIM kit that isn’t a starter kit:

  • You receive months of Google Fi service on a Google Fi plan.
  • The SIM kit’s Manufacturer’s Suggested Retail Price (MSRP) is applied as a credit to your monthly Google Fi bill.

When you buy a SIM kit and add a member:

  • The monthly rate per group member goes down, like it does with any other group plan.
  • Your Google Fi bill credits are split among the group’s members.
  • You’re billed for any amount that isn’t covered in the Google Fi credit.
Switch plans

If you switch plans, your remaining credits apply to your monthly bill until it’s used up.

Pause your Google Fi account

You can pause your service at any time. When you unpause your service, your kit resumes. However, you might be billed for more than one calendar month and charged for the extra days. You still get the same number of months from your SIM kit.
