Change or create a wallpaper on your Pixel phone

Personalize your phone with a preset wallpaper or when you create a wallpaper with AI prompts on your Pixel device.

On the home screen, touch and hold an empty space. Then, tap Wallpaper & style.

Important: When you change your wallpaper selection, your system colors also change.
Tap More wallpapers.

To choose a wallpaper from your Pixel’s presets, under “Choose a Wallpaper,” tap one of the photo categories.

Tip: You can also add photos from your photo library as a wallpaper.

Select a preset wallpaper.

Tap Set wallpaper.

Choose where you want to place this wallpaper.

Home screen: The wallpaper shows when you unlock your phone.
Lock screen: The wallpaper shows when your phone is locked.
Home and lock screens: You’ll have the same wallpaper when your phone is locked or unlocked.

To generate a custom AI wallpaper:

Go to your home screen.
Touch and hold an empty space.
Tap Wallpaper & style More wallpapers.
Under “Create wallpaper,” tap AI wallpaper.

Choose one of the themes.

Your Pixel will provide a prompt to create the AI wallpaper based on the theme you chose.

To start to customize the image, tap the first underlined prompt.

Tip: To generate an image, tap Inspire me.

To select new descriptions for your custom AI wallpaper, tap each underlined prompt.

When you’re happy with your chosen prompt, tap Create wallpaper.

Your Pixel will generate your new AI wallpaper based on the prompt you chose.

If you’re happy with the AI wallpaper, tap Done .

To preview the wallpaper, tap between home screen and lock screen. Then, tap Set wallpaper.
