And the systems are still playing that whack-a-mole here, which puts these OTHER students’ lives in, danger, because you NEVER know when the NEXT kid that brings that knife to school with or without the intent to STAB someone will “surface” somewhere…off of the Front Page Sections, translated…
A sixth grade elementary school student had been behaving waywardly in recent years, last month, he’d injured someone with a knife he brough to school. The city councilperson found, that the student had been tagged ten times for school safety, but there were no further actions taken. The school stated, that currently, they’d assigned the student to study at home until he graduates, that the middle school the student is entering into will be notified, and will be taking measures, to prevent this problem from repeating itself. The Department of Education stated, that in the future there will be the school’s preventive alarm systems, to intervene ahead of times, to lower the chances of incidents such as this from recurring.
Yesterday, the city councilwoman, Chung, exposed that the student, beginning in 2024, had brought knives, lighters to school multiple times, and when he feels that someone upset him, he would harass, retaliate against the fellow students, and even as the teachers intervened, the instructors would get cussed out by him too. At the start of the year, there were the suspected violent assaults of strangling his classmates in the necks, physical assault, to at the beginning of last month, he’d taken a craft knife to school, and injured a student.
The school stated, that the student who exerted the violent behaviors is now assigned to study at home until graduation. The school had taken three initial actions, including implementing the number of legal education hours mandated by law; the middle school the student will be entering into will have a “face-to-face” transfer with his elementary school, the middle school the student will be entering into will be made aware of the records of violent attacks of this student’s, and conditions, so the middle school can be prepared, and help prevent any serious injuries, to keep the bad behaviors from recurring; the school also recommended that the parents take the student into counseling.
The head of the PTA at the elementary school told, that that school had followed protocol in handling the reported incidents, but the incidents were all viewed as isolated, which showed the lacking of the current system.
Chung the city councilwoman questioned, the student had been reported on school safety ten whole times, but every time the incidents had been treated as isolated incidents, that if the same individual got reported twice for school safety, then, the student should be listed as in need of high levels of concern, etc., etc., etc. The mayor, Chiang promised, he will reevaluate the related systems.
The Department of Education stated, that it will set up the school safety alert systems through the school safety reports from the Department of Education, that the system will immediately alert the city government when one student had in a set period of time shown violence, self-injuries, bullying, or other behaviors that needed concerns over, the systems will automatically issue the alerts, offering the Department of Education and the schools the early intervention, behavioral risk assessments, to have the conference of school officials on the behaviors of the students in question, and start up the various agencies collaboration of resolving the issues.
So, this is still all hindsight, because this kid took a knife to school, and injured someone, and he’d put the lives of others in danger, and the student had a dozen of red flags of report on public endangerment, but that was where it ended, and the school’s means of handling this matter is still way too passive, by assigning this teenager to study at home until he graduated, and this will only keep the “dangers” away out of the school’s properties, it doesn’t do SHIT in resolving the matter, because there must be something that’s happened with this “kid”, for him to act out so violently, and, until there’s a system of intervention with the counseling means set up completely, this will keep on occurring, and maybe the next time, it won’t just be a gnash on the victims’ arms, it would be that knife in the CHEST, or a gunshot wound to the stomach or to the head even!
Because this IS still a whack-a-mole, you see one problem, you tackle the problem, another problem pops up, you tackle that, and the government will be on this never-ending game of chasing the perps, and the government never catches up, because the SYSTEMS are FLAWED here.
