So here is my problem and I have been battling this for 5 days now and Xfinity and Yahoo support keep striking out. I can access my account just fine in Outlook Classic. If I slide the slide over to the new Outlook nothing gets transferred or setup. If I try and add my account manually using an app password it gets to a screen where it states syncing with one drive then I get a screen where it fails and states I need a App Password. I have put in the password multiple times and it seems there is issue is with syncing the mail with one drive in the new Outlook.40Views0likes2CommentsMicrosoft Won’t Dump Outlook for a New AI Client
A recent report says that new Microsoft leadership wants to reimagine Outlook with lots of many AI features to make the client much more of an effective assistant. While this might be true, it doesn’t mean that New Outlook is dead. However, there’s a bunch of uninformed commentaries out there alleging that Microsoft will change course dramatically. I think there is little chance that this will happen. https://office365itpros.com/2025/11/04/new-outlook-not-dead/41Views1like1CommentOutlook Classic for M365 - File > Encrypt > 'Encrypt-Only' option applies 'Do Not Forward' label?
I recently joined a new company and am helping support their M365 tenant and admin duties. I'm running into a very weird issue where no recipients can actually read/view the message when we encrypt emails using only 1 specific method (our organization largely uses the Outlook Classic for Microsoft 365 desktop app). If a user follows this method, for some reason the 'Do Not Forward' label is applied to the encryption, despite specifically selecting 'Encrypt-Only' - it defaults to 'Do Not Forward' every single time: New Email > File > Encrypt > Encrypt-Only Sending emails with this method gives any/all recipients a "You don't have sufficient permissions to open the mail." regardless of where they try to open the email (OWA, Outlook Classic, New Outlook) Yet, if the user tries this other method below - the proper Encrypt-Only label is applied, and any Outlook client immediately and opens/views the email as you'd expect: New Email > Options ribbon > Encrypt properly applies the Encrypt-Only label I verified IRM (Identity Rights Management) is enabled for our tenant: And encryption tests pass with flying colors: Ultimately, I'm at a loss for what's going on here and specifically where to check to fix this issue for this 1 specific encryption method. Poking around in the Purview portal, I'm having a hard time figuring out where these encryption policies/settings lie and how to get this method to stop defaulting to 'Do Not Forward' even though 'Encrypt-Only' is checked.64Views1like2CommentsRules for Outlook (new) makes no sense.
I have tried now to use the new version of Outlook for both private and work use. Whenever I set up rules in classic Outlook, I always had to add a sound notification or for it to show me a desktop alert. Because if I have a rule that says "If I receive e-mail from person X, move to folder Y" I do not get a notification, and I risk missing them (which has happened a lot previously). Imagine my shock when I see that the new version of Outlook has dumbed down the rules significantly and restricted me to how I can use them. Is there a reason why we cannot add "show desktop alert" or for it to play a sound in the "actions" tab? I do not understand why this feature was removed, as well as removing auto archiving. I just don't understand why! Will the option for adding desktop alerts and for it to play sounds be added in the future?15Views0likes0CommentsWhy Outlook Locks You Out After Deleting Thousands of Emails — And How to Fix It Fast
We’ve all been there — your Outlook or Hotmail inbox is overflowing with thousands of old messages, and you decide to clean house. You select all, hit delete, and feel relieved… until you try to open your mailbox again and get hit with a dreaded message: “We’ve temporarily limited your account.” Welcome to the world of Outlook throttling — Microsoft’s way of protecting its servers (and your account) from overload or suspicious activity. But don’t worry, it’s usually temporary and easy to fix. https://dellenny.com/why-outlook-locks-you-out-after-deleting-thousands-of-emails-and-how-to-fix-it-fast/26Views0likes0CommentsAccount blocked
My account has been blocked and when I try to reset my password and do the verification with my phone number, it says it isnt available. I then put in a different email to send the code too and I have filled out the recovery form but it has rejected me, even though, I put all the correct information in. I have tried over and over. Everything comes in to that email so I really need access back for work purposes as well as private. Please can someone help me as I cant speak to a customer support agent!30Views0likes0CommentsOutlook for Android not syncing contacts automatically
Hi Everyone, I can't get Outlook on my android phone (Samsung S9) to sync contact automatically with my Exchange (Microsoft Hosted Exchange) account. If I add a contact on the Outlook app running on my Windows 10 laptop, I can see it if I look on the Outlook for web. I have checked the usual settings on my phone: The only way to get the contacts to update is to reset the account: Contacts that I add on my phone (Exchange account) do not sync back to the online account. Outlook on my phone syncs emails with the same account normally. I've tried clearing data / cache, and even taken the extra step of uninstalling and reinstalling on my phone but it makes no difference Any suggestions gladly welcomed!2.4KViews0likes1CommentOutlook for Mac - Upload and Share is not working as access "Recipients of this message" is missing
New Outlook for Mac has since some versions back gotten the feature where the user can upload a file and share it to the recipients of the e-mail. The file will be per default be uploaded to DOWNLOAD folder in OneDrive. Now this is not working on Outlook for Mac as the whole access permission Recipients of this message" is missing. On Windows and Outlook on Web, this is available, but not for New Outlook for Mac. It seems that this feature is not yet fully developed on Outlook for Mac. Any others that see the same and can confirm?16Views0likes0CommentsExternal people can't open files with Sensitivity Label encryption.
Question: What are the best practices for ensuring external users can open files encrypted with Sensitivity Labels? Hi all. I've been investigating proper setup of sensitivity labels in Purview, and the impact on user experience. The prerequisites are simple enough, creating and configuring the labels reasonably straightforward, and publishing them is a breeze. But using them appears to be a different matter! Everything is fine for labels that don't apply encryption (control access) or when used internally. However, the problems come when labels do apply encryption and information is sent externally. The result is that we apply a label to a document, attach that document to an email, and send it externally - and the recipient says they can't open it and they get an error that their email address is not in our directory. This is because due to the encryption, the external user needs to authenticate back to our tenant, and if they're not in our tenant they obviously can't do this so the files won't open. So, back to the question above. What's the easiest / most secure / best way to add any user we might share encrypted content with to our tenant. As I see it we have the following options: Users have to request Admins add the user as a Guest in our tenant before they send the content. Let's face it, they'll not do this and/or get frustrated. Users share encrypted content directly from SharePoint / OneDrive, rather than attaching it to emails (as that would automatically add the external person as a Guest in the tenant). This will be fine in some circumstances, but won't always be appropriate (when you want to send them a point-in-time version of a doc). With good SharePoint setup, site Owners would also have to approve the share before it gets sent which could delay things. Admins add all possible domains that encrypted content might be shared with to Entra B2B Direct Connect (so the external recipient doesn't have to be our tenant). This may not be practical as you often don't know who you'll need to share with and we work with hundreds of organisations. The bigger gotcha is that the external organisation would also have to configure Entra B2B Direct Connect. Admins default Entra B2B Direct Connect to 'Allow All'. This opens up a significant attack surface and also still requires any external organisation to configure Entra B2B Direct Connect as well. I really want to make this work, but it need to be as simple as possible for the end users sharing sensitive or confidential content. And all of the above options seem to have significant down-sides. I'm really hoping someone who uses Sensitivity Labels on a day-to-day basis can provide some help or advice to share their experiences. Thanks, Oz.215Views0likes20CommentsReplying to emails from M365 Outlook group
A problem I am stumped with, so I am reaching out for some help/guidance. One group wants to not have the emails going into their own inbox but manage and reply only from the group inbox itself (so they know the email has been processed by deleting it once replied). It worked OK to begin with and then some users couldn't reply, then more. Some still can. I have tried reindexing local copy, using browser instead of app & changing the send on behalf of permissions. Owner or member of group doesn't seem to make a difference. Error messages include "This message can't be sent because it no longer exists. It can only be discarded. Make sure you copy the contents of the message before you discard if you want to use them later." and "Couldn't send this message". Please see screenshots attached. My questions: 1: Is Outlook on M365 designed to allow users to reply from the group either as the "group" or as themselves? Information I found isn't clear. 2: If it is / can be - what can I do to make it work for all users? Thanks!75Views0likes0Comments
