[How-to] Download any video from your favorite video website.

Yesterday someone asked me the process of downloading Videos from Youtube and i was kind of surprised to hear that question. Its surprising to know that many people still are unaware that they can download their favorite videos from video sharing websites like Youtube, Google Videos, MetaCafe, Blip.tv, Dailymotion, Spike etc.

This post describes the process of downloading the videos from your Favorite video sharing websites. It also describes the process of converting the downloaded .flv files to your favorite format.

Lets start with the download process first. In order to download a particular video from your favorite video sharing website, you should have the URL of the video. For eg, if you wish to download the video from the URL http://www.metacafe.com/watch/663030/insane_747_400_landing/

Follow the steps below:

1.) Point your browser to the URL http://www.keepvid.com

2.) On the homepage of Keepvid website, enter the URL of the video ( in our case, http://www.metacafe.com/watch/663030/insane_747_400_landing/ ) in the input box provided. If you are not sure of the videoservice, select Any Site from the combo.

3.) Press the button names “Download”.

4.) A download link is presented. The file downloaded is in the .flv format. However, if you happen to be downloading video from Youtube, you could even get .mp4 version of your video file.

5.) Rename the downloaded file to something-meaningful.flv

6.) Download a FLV player to view the recently downloaded file. You can get one from here.

However, the video file you just downloaded is in .flv format , in order to convert it to some other format, like .avi, .wmv, .3gp, .mp4 etc, download AVS Video Converter, a free tool which allows you to convert all types of video files from one format to another, rip and burn video DVDs and make basic edits to video.

Once you have downloaded AVS Video Converter, follow the steps below

1.) Select your input file path.

2.) Select the conversion parameters for the desired format of video.

3.) Set a video output file path.

4.) Press Convert Now.

Go on and download your favorite videos.

PC Tools has announced its Spyware Doctor program as the latest addition to Google Pack, a “free collection of essential software”.

Google Pack includes Google Earth, Desktop, Picasa, Toolbar, Photos Screensaver,Star Office,Google Talk and Video Player.

It also includes partner software such as Mozilla’s Firefox, Adobe’s Reader, Norton Security Scan, RealPlayer, GalleryPlayer HD Images, Skype and now Spyware Doctor.

“As part of this partnership we are providing an exclusive version of Spyware Doctor for Google Pack users,” said PC Tools chief executive Simon Clausen.

The free edition offers the usual spyware detection and removal as well as real-time protection with PC Tools’ new File Guard technology.

The free version is lacking a few features compared to the full version, such as Cookie Guard, Keylogger Guard, Startup Guard and Browser Guard. The free version also lacks phone support.

Top 3 FREE Antivirus Applications

Most of the websites i surf, keep writing about the Best Antivirus Softwares ( which for sure happen to be the paid one’s), but when it comes to free Antivirus Softwares, we usually are ignorant.
The truth however is, and it must be told; there are many free antivirus softwares which score heavily when compared to the paid Antivirus Software Solutions.

I am putting up my list of favorites below. This list is based on experience and net research.

1.) Avast: Avast offers a lot of protection levels like Web Shield, Network Shield, IM Shield, Outlook/Exchange Shield, P2P Protection. The best stuff is that Avast’s database is updated daily. Check it out yourself here.

2.) Avira AntiVir: Offers good file scanning capabilities and this too has a frequently updated virus database. Get Avira from here.

3.) AVG Antivirus: AVG has been an old time favorite when it comes to free antivirus softwares. Although, AVG doesnt offer the kind of features which Avast offers, what it does have in its favor is its fast file scanning and low system requirements. Get AVG from here

vConvert.net: Download online videos in multiple formats

Till now we have talked a lot about different sites/tools available for downloading Youtube/Google Videos. However, the problem lies in the download that happens… Most of the readers have mailed me back saying that the video’s are in .flv format and they would love to read about something wherein they don’t have to encode the video to some other format like .wmv, .3gp, .mp4 using a tool.

vConvert.net has actually solved this problem, the site takes in a video URL from the user and asks him/her to select the format in the which the output file is desired. The site then automatically under the hood downloads, encodes and presents the video to the user in the desired format.

So for a download frenzy guy like me… this happens to be the best way. Who really wants to encode those .flv files 😉

You must be thinking that we are some Google partisan, yes, you guessed it right. We are a great fan of Google and its services. Lets focus today on Youtube. Here, we bring to you one of the great add on for YouTube. Its called YouRipper.

You might say that there are many video downloader softwares available, then YouRipper? Well, the answer is pretty straight and simple.

Google and Comic Search.

When it comes to search, Google has always played GOD. Usually, when it comes to search, we often search only for e-books, music, software etc… but not many people know that you can even find Comics using Google.

Most of the comic scripts on the net have a .cbz or .cbr extension. Softwares like CDisplay(Windows) and FFView(Mac) can be used to view the scripts. However, the good thing is that you can even decompress such files by renaming .cbr extension to .rar and .cbz extension to .zip and use any of your favorite decompressing softwares like Winrar and Winzip to view them.

You can use these searches for searching your comics.

Google: -inurl:htm -inurl:html intitle:”index of” “Last modified” comics cbr

or -inurl:htm -inurl:html intitle:”index of” “Last modified” comics cbz

To search for comics with .zip extension and .rar extension use this:

-inurl:htm -inurl:html intitle:”index of” “Last modified” comics rar
