I'm part of the new "lost generation". I grew up loving movies when there were more stars in Hollywood than in heaven. I plead guilty to reading fan mags about stars like Humphrey Bogart, Gary Cooper (Mom named me after "Coop", her favorite star), Ingrid Bergman, Clark Gable, Spencer Tracy, and many other Tinsel town … Continue reading AND, THE OSCAR GOES TO … BUT, DO YOU CARE? – GARRY ARMSTRONG

ABOUT THE OSCARS
Fandango’s Provocative Question #214 So what about those Oscars, eh? They have become increasingly irrelevant to many of us, especially since many of us haven't seen any of the movies up for awards -- and the ones we saw and liked are never nominated. Here's the question: Do you think that the metrics the Academy Awards … Continue reading ABOUT THE OSCARS
THANKS AGAIN FOR THE TAG YOU GAVE TO FANDANGO – Marilyn Armstrong
FROM FANDANGO'S "THIS, THAT, AND THE OTHER" COMES THIS AWARD WHICH I DIDN'T EARN, BUT I LIKE THE LOGO AND AT LEAST IT'S NOT ABOUT COVID-19, RIGHT? First, thank you Fandango for offering to let me give myself the award. Is that anything like crowning myself. Since Fandango called his post "Thanks For the … Continue reading THANKS AGAIN FOR THE TAG YOU GAVE TO FANDANGO – Marilyn Armstrong

ALMOST ACCEPTING AN AWARD BUT I’M NOT EATING THE CRUSTS
I don't do awards, not because I think there's anything wrong with them, but simply because I've been blogging a long time. I've done a lot of awards. When we first start blogging, awards are a pat on the back that someone "out there" has noticed us. In those early months when a hot post … Continue reading ALMOST ACCEPTING AN AWARD BUT I’M NOT EATING THE CRUSTS
THE LONGEST RUNNING TV SHOW
For 31 years, there was a series on Channel 7 in Boston. It was my favorite show. I watched it any day I could get home from work in time. It was on several times a day, five days a week. The first performance often aired during the pre-dawn hours, while the final day’s episode might air … Continue reading THE LONGEST RUNNING TV SHOW
HURT SO BAD
This year Linda Ronstadt turned 70 years of age. She last sang lead vocals on A La Orilla de un Palmar in 2010 on The Chieftans album. It is a traditional Mexican song. In 2011 her autobiography, Simple Dreams: A Musical Memoir, was published. Two years later is came out in Spanish. She also was given … Continue reading HURT SO BAD
WE NEEDED A LAUGH – THE SAG-AFTRA AWARDS
We watched the SAG-AFTRA awards last night on I-forget-which-channel. We had tuned in because they were going to give a "Lifetime Achievement Award" to Carol Burnett. Garry has quite a collection of such awards. He calls them the "dodging bullets" awards. If you manage to stay in the business long enough and don't die young, you … Continue reading WE NEEDED A LAUGH – THE SAG-AFTRA AWARDS
WHERE DO I GO FROM HERE?
Back from the mountains, from the north land. Out of 9 days away, 4 were spent entirely in the car. We drove most of the day today and are exhausted. We need to rethink how we take vacations, how much driving we do. How close together we do long drives. BLOGGING: HOW MUCH IS ENOUGH? I am … Continue reading WHERE DO I GO FROM HERE?
A BIT OF INSPIRATION
This has been a big week for awards. Maybe it’s something in the air, or maybe it’s just the flipping of the calendar. This one, from Sue Vincent — who, like me, doesn’t accept awards. So from one award non-accepter to another, thanks Sue. I’m honored and I’m touched.
No, I know I don’t usually accept blogging awards these days. But it is a holiday… which means it is a time for not doing usual things. It is also the start of a new year, which makes it a perfect time to look at some of the things that have inspired me over the last one… and share the work of just a few of the people who write on WordPress.
And anyway… I couldn’t refuse Seumas and his cheeky Glaswegian twinkle….
If your blog is on the list and you accept awards, the guidelines are below. If you don’t accept awards… and you don’t have to… then take the nomination simply as a token of my appreciation.
Picking just a few is a near impossible task given the sheer scope of those to choose from! Especially as Seumas has already nabbed one or two…
