I like all kinds of music so I just picked this one. Mainly because I really like it, and I’ve heard it a lot this year.

“Seven Nation Army”, by The White Stripes, is a single from their 2003 album, “Elephant”. It was written by Jack White, and is on the V2 – XL – Third Man label.

This is a song that I’ve always liked, because it brings back memories of an all night long, nonsensical drive around town with friends.

Here’s what is interesting/strange about the lyrics, to me, now that I’ve read them.

  • Why 73 men? What’s the significance of that number?
  • A storm was blowing, yet the sea was peaceful?
  • The ship was a mystery ship, come from nowhere, and then disappeared. Were they aliens from another planet trying to lure people to their ‘mystery ship’, and ‘another world’? Was it a UFO Space Ship?

1. Would you consider 2024 to have been a good year? … It was pretty good all around until this last week, then things crashed down with a stay in the hospital.

2. What has been the highlight of 2024 for you? … Highlight? That everything went the same as usual for the most part – no big exciting news, just the day to day stuff.

3. Did you keep any New Year resolutions if you made any in January? … I don’t make any resolutions.

4. Are you looking forward to 2025? … Yes, and no. It always seems we want a good year ahead, like a fresh start, but it’s been my experience over the years that the new year usually starts out pretty awful. So I dread what might happen in 2025.

I’m Back Home

I’m Back Home

Maybe you noticed or maybe not, but I’ve been MIA for 5 days, since Christmas afternoon. I was in the hospital, but am back home this afternoon (Sunday).

I had a nosebleed that wouldn’t stop, for the second time in 2 weeks, so they admitted me for treatment and observation. After the whirlwind ambulance ride and being treated, the rest of the time/days was just boring. But then being waited on by the wonderful nurses was great. I sure appreciate all they do for their patients.

Anyway, I still have to get an appointment with an ENT doctor to get the nose issue taken care of better so hopefully it won’t happen again.

I couldn’t find or get Wi-fi up there, so couldn’t see emails or anything. But I sure have missed my regular computer time, and hearing/reading all about what everyone has been doing.

Monday (tomorrow) I plan to getting back on schedule with my posts (cross fingers), and I’ve saved all the emails, comments, and blogs to read, and will try to get to them if possible pretty soon.

First, I want to wish everyone a wonderful holiday season, however you may celebrate. Merry Christmas!

This song and video is a favorite of mine to hear every Christmas season. I found it quite a few years ago and love the message it brings.

I don’t know much about it, except it was released on the Kosmic Troubadour’s FB page in 2011. It was produced by #KosmicTroubadourMusic.

1. What is the best or worst gift you have ever received? … There have been so many gifts for all occasions over the years it’s hard to remember. But one I do remember was for a Mother’s Day. My daughter was in Jr. High art class and they had to make a card for the mothers. It was just construction paper or something simple, and the color I believe was brown. She’d glued a picture of a black guitar on the front, because my favorite colors are brown and black, and inside was some kind of rock & roll type saying, I don’t remember now. But I loved this card, because she knew exactly what I liked and made it. The thing is, she got in big trouble from her teacher, who said that was not appropriate for mother’s day, it should have been more pink, flowers, and hearts, and things like that. But I loved it because it was perfect.

 

2. What is the funniest gift you’ve ever given or received? … This is another hard one to remember. We’ve always done a lot of funny gag or joke gifts and they are all funny. There might be a gift put into a food box from the kitchen cabinet, or some other strange kind of box that is not the gift, or a tiny gift in a big box. Just any fun thing we can think of. One year I bought lots of little zip up purses or make up bags at yard sales, and instead of wrapping paper I just put the small gifts in these and put a name on it. So many different things I used to do to make it fun.

 

3. Do you purchase a gift specifically with a recipient in mind or buy something you like and hope they do?  .. I try to keep in mind the person and what they like, but mostly for the kids when they got a little older would make me a list of what all they wanted, so that made it easy.

 

4. Have you ever recycled/ passed on an unwanted or unsuitable gift? … I can’t remember ever doing this, as I always like and appreciate any gift I get, so I’m happy to keep it.

Now all that said, we don’t buy anyone any gifts any more, we just give cash money so they can go buy whatever the want or need. We’ve had no complaints at all. haha 🙂
