Today’s prompt is a song that kind of sums up how 2025 went. I suppose it goes different for everyone, with some good things and some not so good things that happened to them. Same for me.
Somehow though, even as we went through our routines and day to day ups and downs, there seemed to be a pall over all of the U.S. and even the world. So much so it just makes us want to scream. There is no getting away from all the bad news, since it is on all media, all the time. Some form of it pops up in all areas when you are trying to shut it out. So … here are a couple of songs that seem to say that.

painting by Edvard Munch ‘the Scream’, person on a bridge holding head, mouth in a scream, all in oranges and blue colors

From AI answer:
The “secret words” written in faint pencil on the top-left corner of Edvard Munch’s 1893 painting
The Scream are in Norwegian: “Kan kun være malet af en gal Mand!”.
This translates to: “Could only have been painted by a madman!”.

“The Scream”, by Cat Empire, written by Felix Riebl.

Lyrics: [F.RIEBL] I, I caught it in a gallery A painting that was called The Scream On a day off in Norway I, I stood before it aimlessly That figure seemed so close to me He’s with me everyday What’s the matter with me? What’s the matter with me? What’s the matter with me? Is it internal, or externally? Sometimes I want to scream like that Sometimes I want to hear that sound Sometimes I want to hold my face And feel the world turning upside down and all around The colours swirl endlessly And everywhere the colours bleed Is everything I’ve never known Screaming back at me Real fake Is anybody listening? Fake real Is it horrific? Is anybody listening? Or is it ecstasy? Or is it just a dream? In sound I couldn’t run away All around in surround It was coming from me anyway Sometimes I want to scream like that Sometimes I want to hear that sound Sometimes I want to hold my face And feel the world turning upside down and all around The colours swirl endlessly And everywhere the colours bleed Is everything I’ve never known Screaming back at me In the wild wild free The wild wild free It’s you and me In the wild wild free Can only have been Can only have been Can only have been Painted by a madman, madman X3

And this is why I feel the need to hold my head and scream … listen to the catchy song, but read the lyrics. If that doesn’t sum up 2025 I don’t know what does.

Times are strange
We’ve got a free upgrade
For snakes on a plane
Fuck ’em, I don’t care
Pop the cheap champagne
We’re going down in flames, hey
Oh! I’m ready for it
Come on, bring it! [Repeat: x4]
So kiss me goodbye
Honey, I’m gonna make it out alive
So kiss me goodbye
I can see the venom in their eyes
Goodbye
It’s time to fly
Tonight the sky’s alive
With lizards serpentine
Lounging in their suits and ties
Watch the whore’s parade
For the price of fame, hey
Oh! I’m ready for it
Come on, bring it! [Repeat: x4]
So kiss me goodbye
Honey, I’m gonna make it out alive
So kiss me goodbye
I can see the venom in their eyes
So kiss me goodbye
Honey, I’m gonna make it out alive
So kiss me goodbye
I can see the venom in their eyes
Goodbye
Ladies and gentlemen,
These snakes is slitherin’
With dollar signs in their eyes
With tongues so reptilians
This industry’s venomous
With cold-blooded sentiments
No need for nervousness
It’s just a little turbulence
So kiss me goodbye
Honey, I’m gonna make it out alive
So kiss me goodbye
I can see the venom in their eyes
So kiss me goodbye
Honey, I’m gonna make it out alive
So kiss me goodbye
I can see the venom in their eyes
Goodbye
Oh! I’m ready for it
Come on, bring it! [Repeat: x4]
We seem to be losing altitude at an alarming pace
From midtown to downtown
Snakes on a blog
I suggest you grab your ankles and kiss your ass goodbye
