Get to Know You

Get to Know You

For Kymber’s challenge:

Get to Know You #88!

***

1. What’s the most unhinged thing you believed as a kid?

Lots of silly things, but one was that those steel wool soap pads ‘SOS” were highly poisonous. I tried never to touch one, but if I did when washing dishes, I had to rinse them extra extra good so no poison was left on the dishes.

2. What tiny joy do you guard like a dragon?

Can’t really think of anything, just maybe my usual daily routine. I don’t like it to be disrupted by anything.

3. What’s the craziest thing you’d name a pet on impulse?

We had lots of fun names for our pets, like their movie star name, their cowboy name, their wrestling name, and on and on. But we did name the outside neighborhood cats that came to visit, too. One was Wow Wow, and the other was Wee Wow, who was the daughter of Wow Wow. That’s because when they meowed they sounded like Wow instead of meow.

***;

These photos are from years ago approx. 2020.

I looked out our garage door window one day, and guess who I saw sitting up on the hood of our truck? It was Wow Wow! She saw me watching her, so came closer to meow and pose. 🙂

***

Baby Wow Wow.

This little kitty we call Baby Wow Wow, or Wee Wow, because she is Mama Wow Wow’s baby.

She is white, black and brown, and very soft. I get to pet her sometimes. 🙂

This fiery looking photo is just a wonderful orange and yellow sunrise looking out our garage window.

Inside cats looking outside

***

And this is one of my favorite photos. I was looking in the window of the haunted house, seeing myself reflected in the house’s bedroom mirror, so looking at myself outside the window looking in. Confusing but cool. 🙂

Me, outside, looking inside a haunted house & reflected in the inside mirror of me on the outside

***

I think this was Wee Wow (an outside kitty) up on the side roof of the house. I was looking out through my bedroom window, and the cat was looking in at me looking at her. 🙂

August Authors – Jim Davis – Garfield – International Cat Day

August Authors – Jim Davis – Garfield – International Cat Day

Author August: Else Hueck-Dehio & Stefan

***

And I didn’t know it when I started working on this post last night, but today it is  …

International Cat Day
Celebration

Bee says:

This month I challenge you to share one of your favourite authors every day. As an additional challenge also share a song that connects in some way with that author.

***

As I mostly do, I’m featuring a favorite book instead of author. To me, favorite author means I get all their books and wish for more. If I like one book by an author, that doesn’t make them a favorite author, though the book might be.

From Wiki article about Jim Davis

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jim_Davis_(cartoonist)

James Robert Davis
Jim Davis (cartoonist) James Robert Davis (born July 28, 1945) is an American cartoonist, screenwriter, and producer. He is best known as the creator of the comic strips Garfield and U.S. Acres. Published since 1978, Garfield is one of the world’s most widely syndicated comic strips.

THE TENTH GARFIELD TREASURY

IMG_3386

“The Tenth Garfield Treasury”, was one I’d gotten at the library book sale a long time ago. I basically skimmed through the pages. I’ve read a lot of the Garfield books, and read the comics in newspapers for years. This one is a compilation of some of those, so are kind of recycled comics from another place.

It’s the usual antics that Garfield, the cat, gets up to with his cartoon family, Jon, and the dog, Odie. As always they are funny, and I love seeing the way they are drawn.

Garfield comics first made an appearance in 1978, the creation of Jim Davis. This book was printed in 1999, by Ballantine Publishing Group.

If you like comics, and cats doing funny things, you’ll like reading this one, too. 🙂

Here’s some interesting information about the Garfield comics.  The image in all products with the Garfield images, were illustrated by Mike Fentz, of Muncie, Indiana. Here’s a couple of biography and work related articles of his experience.

Now for a fun fact!

***

My daughter used to  live with Mike Fentz’s family in Indiana. She was attending college up there, at Ball State University, and needed a place to stay. Somehow she knew someone who made it happen that she was offered a place in their home for quite a while. 🙂

Here’s another jigsaw puzzle we’ve done recently. It has 7 cats in the picture, all are relaxing and having a picnic by the sea. Some are wearing sunglasses and hats, some have cooling drinks, and the menu looks to be fish, chips, cake, donuts, and cherries. 🙂
