FOWC – Plush

For Fandango’s challenge:

FOWC With Fandango — Plush

***

“Plush”, by StoneTemple Pilots

I like this song. In reading about it, it seems it is loosely based on a true story of trying to find a missing or kidnapped person who was later found deceased. So sad.

Here’s an interesting fact to me…my daughter had a pet rabbit a long time ago, and she named it Weiland, after the singer in this band.

***

This video is an acoustic version, performed on Headbangers Ball (MTV), which I like a lot. The official video is good, but I was detracted from the lyrics and the meanings of the song by the craziness of that video.

“Plush”, by Stone Temple Pilots, was released as a single from their album, “Core”, in 1993. It was written by Scott Weiland and Eric Kratz, and is on the Atlantic label.

[Verse 1]
And I feel that time’s a wasted go
So where ya goin’ ’til tomorrow?
And I see that these are lies to come
So would you even care?[Pre-Chorus]
And I feel it
And I feel it[Chorus]
Where ya goin’ for tomorrow?
Where ya goin’ with the mask I found?
And I feel, and I feel when the dogs begin to smell her
Will she smell alone?
[Verse 2]
And I feel, so much depends on the weather
So is it rainin’ in your bedroom?
And I see, that these are the eyes of disarray
So would you even care?[Pre-Chorus]
And I feel it
And she feels itWhere ya goin’ for to tomorrow?
Where ya goin’ with the mask I found?
And I feel, and I feel when the dogs begin to smell her
Will she smell alone?
[Bridge]
When the dogs do find her
Got time, time, to wait for tomorrow
To find it, to find it, to find it
When the dogs do find her
Got time, time, to wait for tomorrow
To find it, to find it, to find it[Chorus]
Where ya goin’ for tomorrow?
Where ya goin’ with the mask I found?
And I feel, and I feel when the dogs begin to smell her
Will she smell alone?
[Outro]
When the dogs do find her
Got time, time, to wait for tomorrow
To find it, to find it, to find it
When the dogs do find her
Got time, time, to wait for tomorrow
To find it, to find it, to find it
To find it
To find it
To find it

FOWC – Shop

FOWC With Fandango — Shop

***

I don’t get out to do shopping any more, but I do have silly dreams about shopping quite a lot.

Here’s one from this morning:

October 30th

Shopping in a store like Ross maybe. I was looking at a circular rack of pants, like blue jeans but they were all white, and they were lots of them all jammed in tight. Then there were more on a straight rack to the other side, then some men’s shirts and things. On a little shelf there were short pieces of cloths in different colors and I wondered what they were for. Then I saw it was for a hair accessory, and I said oh, to put over a hair bun! I said I’d get a couple . yellow and lime green. Then I went back to the white pants trying to find a size but there were no tags. I saw coming down the aisle the owner or manager talking to some other men in suits so thought I’d ask where to find the sizes and price tags, but just as I did I saw on the hangers were little plastic bead things that told the sizes and prices, so I just said never mind. The biggest I saw was 38 size and I figured I might want a bigger one but couldn’t find one.

Dreams are so silly sometimes, aren’t they! 🙂

A strange incident was when my cousin & I were kids playing with the Ouija board. I asked would I get a dog?  It said yes. I asked when? It said January. (this was back in the fall). Sure enough, come January, I did get a puppy. I named him Dusty, and he was an awesome dog, who lived with us for many years. The photo shows Dusty, who was white & fluffy.

FOWC With Fandango — Alarm

***

Last Thursday evening, June 5, 2025 we were very much alarmed!

Here’s what happened.

***

From a local news article:

JUNE 5, 2025) At approximately 6:55pm, the National Weather Service included Lubbock, Texas in a Tornado Warning. This warning activated the Outdoor Warning System (OWS). This Tornado Warning also activated the Integrated Public Alert Warning System (IPAWS).

***

They say now there were multiple tornadoes all around the area, and were getting close enough to our city to sound the alarm. I don’t think one actually hit inside the city, but the outlying areas saw some damage to trees and roofs, etc.

At home that night, we were monitoring the weather news on TV and radio. Then the tornado warning sirens went off and stayed on for it seemed forever. Normally when they test these sirens, we can barely hear them, but this night they were loud and clear, even over the sounds of the storm.

Plus, our TV was turned up about as loud as it could be done, and even then we could barely hear the announcers. The news people said they had their speakers turned up as loud as they could, too, and could hardly hear themselves, they said.

It was loud! So loud! The wind was howling, the hail was falling, and torrential rain was coming down. Sounded like a giant was stomping on our roof, while hail was being driven into our window panes. Luckily nothing got broke or damaged at our house.

During all this, my phone rang two different times with an automated alarm of a tornado warning.

I was concerned, but not all that scared. Which was strange being that I had been in the F5 tornado before and still have nightmare of it. This night I carried on with my making supper and then sat down to eat while watching weather coverage and hoping the roof wouldn’t cave in. My husband and a friend was out in the garage with the door open watching it all go on. After awhile it all calmed down as the storm finally left our area.

Since that night, we’ve had some more tornadoes around the area, but none as close as these were.

Cabbage Patch Kids Dolls

My daughters had some of these little dolls. They were a big fad and sometimes hard to find at the store. They had raffles and drawings for them at some places, and I happened to win one. I tell all about it in a longer post if you want to read it … here

One original idea with these dolls, is that they were supposedly adopted by the person who had the doll, and came with adoption papers you sign, and the dolls had original names, too.

Photos show the original adoption certificate, signature, and parts of the boxes the dolls came in that I saved.

in past years there was a Crayola color challenge that I participated in. This year they didn’t have it, though. Here’s a couple of representations of the color crayon called ‘inchworm’.

I drew this

Coloring page shows a large inchworm colored in different shades of green (with little black dots). He is smiling and has a blue & yellow cap worn backwards on his head. 🙂 This was from a little kid’s coloring book.

***

I can’t remember if I’ve ever seen an actual inchworm. I guess they are light green. Are they an inch long, or when they scoot along, is it an inch per scoot? Has anyone actually measured the worm, or it’s scooting length? (sorry…I’m laughing out loud here…can’t stop!) 😂

Wait a minute…I’m gonna google a photo of an inchworm…maybe I will calm down after that. 😂

That’s about all I can find for now. Guess I’ll scoot along now, too, and wish you a heaping measure of fun today. 🙂

Flower of the Day – Delicate Baby’s Breath

***

Baby’s Breath flowers, whose scientific name is Gypsophila, are a member of the carnation flower family. They are used in many floral arrangements.

This photo shows a large bunch of the white flowers. They are very tiny, so look good in a large amount.

I wondered why they are called Baby’s Breath. It seems it is because they have a very delicate color, mostly white, but sometimes pink or yellow, and also it represents the innocence of babies.

I almost always do Fandango’s challenge prompt word of the day, but then get sidetracked and forget to post them. Here are the latest 4, all in one. 🙂

FOWC – record

For Fandango’s challenge:-

FOWC With Fandango — Record

***

Lots of ways you can use the word ‘record’.

First thought is of actual vinyl music records, whether 78rpm, 45rpm, or the LP kind. I have some of each, saved from years ago.

Then there is keeping a record of something, when you write it down to remember it.

Also there can be records set, as in the high or low temperatures in an area.

And what about pronouncing the word a little different. Instead of a record you listen to, you can say something into a recording machine and record your voice, or your music.

I’m sure there are lots of  more modern ways of recording these days, but we used to have a cassette recorder to tape music from off the radio, or our own voices saying things or singing. I still have some of those recordings. It was fun.

We have a record store here in our town, which everyone knows. They have all kinds of older vinyls and also the newer kinds of recorded music. This is ‘Ralph’s Records’, and they are in a pink and black building not far from us.

Photo

A fun record store in a place we visited one time is “Ring-Tail Records”, in Alpine, Texas. Their sign is a round record with a ring-tailed lemer face. I thought is was very unique.

Desiccated mummy meat

Doesn’t matter if you heat

It mostly, mainly tastes like feet

Never ever will it meet …

My expectations

***

note ~ this poem comes about because of a microwave dinner (stir fried chicken & rice). I’ve tried it a few times, as it looks good, but the little chunks of chicken are really bad & dried out even though I follow the directions. So I call it desiccated mummy meat. Oh, and I don’t buy it any more!

Update: Well, we do still buy this product, and something happened and it turns out just fine now, so I do eat it and like it. 🙂

Coloring book page shows multicolored mama and baby camels. There are a couple of small pyramids (brown), and a yellow sun with blue clouds in the sky.

***

There was a time when everyone was interested in what they called ‘pyramid power’. If I remember right, it was believed that there is some kind of special, mysterious power in the shape of pyramids – the triangle. Supposedly if you put an item under a pyramid shape, it would help the item. I believe an example was that a plant would grow much better, or razor blades would last for a very long time. There were others, but I don’t remember them all. I had a book about it one time, though.

Now, I wanted to check out pyramids to see if they really do have 3 sides, and nope, they don’t. There are different shapes, and the base it is sitting on is considered a side, too. So, the ones that look like triangles, are 4 sided. They are definitely a geometric shape though. The peoples who constructed the great pyramids had their reasons, such as tombs, or for charting the stars, or some other magical reason. Such a fascinating subject that I can spend all day finding out about.

FOWC With Fandango — Plastic

***

Lots of thoughts about plastic, but I’m reminded of the first time I saw or knew about the plastic bags for putting groceries in at the store. This was in 1979, in Japan. My husband had come back from the commissary with some plastic bags with what he’d bought from the store in them. He said look at these! We thought it was a pretty neat way to carry things. Now, they are everywhere. Some places are starting to ban them. One thing I don’t like about them is that when they get outside, sometimes the wind will catch them and they go floating around until something like a tree will catch hold. To me that is awful. It looks ugly to see a plastic bag flapping around up in a tree, and it’s usually up so high you can’t get it down so it stays there forever. Not good!
