The prompt word to use is ‘Dragon’. I don’t have a picture of a real one, but I have this wall decoration of a dragonfly! 🙂 Next time I see a real one I’ll try to get a photo. A funny thing happened one summer day. We saw the cats outside leaping and jumping all crazy-like, and at first couldn’t figure out why they were acting that way. On closer look, we saw they were trying to catch dragonflies. There were a lot of them flying around that day. It was so funny to watch the cats. 🙂

I looked up the phrase, ‘Here there be dragons’ to see where it came from, and basically Wiki says this …

note: the phrase ‘here there be dragons’ is thought to have originated by the old time map makers as they drew dragons on uncharted territories, since they did not know what they might find there.

Flower of the Day – Aloe Vera

The aloe vera plant has some nice spiky green leaves. These are in cute Halloween containers. The first one is black, with sugar skulls and orange flowers, and the second one is in an orange ceramic pumpkin. The little label says, “Happy Aloe-Ween”.

POEM # 25

2 painted rocks to look like corn on the cob, and a real corn on the cob

LOST IN A CORN MAZE

Corn husks rustle, left and right…

Forsaken on this cold, dark night…

Alone…

All alone…

I realize they hypnotize…

Throwing magic into my eyes…

Alone…

All alone…

Is synchronicity a possibility?

Is this accidental, or just incidental?

Alone…

All alone…

I must take action, cause a distraction;

I need interaction; I feel I’m in traction…

Alone…

All alone…

I must use my senses, to break down defenses,

and break free from this agony…

This test will only make me stronger,

And from this mess, I’ll be lost here no longer…

This is a poem I wrote for October Poetry Writing Month, way back in 2014.

There are a lot of TV and movie witches that have brought us fun entertainment over the years.

Being it’s Halloween again, I thought I’d re-post it. Enjoy! 🙂

WITCHY FUN

From Oz to Salem, to suburban mayhem,

The witches entertained us all.

The witch of the west, was creepy at best,

And Glinda was belle of the ball.

Samantha twitched her nose,

Whenever she chose, and

Sabrina’s cat talks to her, it is true.

Elphaba was wicked,

Endora was vivid…

They all were an interesting crew.

The Sanderson sisters were funny and camp,

The witches of Eastwick were duped…

They all used their craft, and a bit of their vamp,

But Morticia’s my all favorite champ.

Puzzles – A to Z – 2023 – Letter P

We always have a jigsaw puzzle out to work on off and on during the day. We have lots that we’ve bought or been given, and we’ve worked most all of them many times.

We especially like the ones with cats in the picture, but we do all kinds and all different puzzle piece counts from 350 to 1,000.

This one is called, “Picture Purrfect”. It is one of the Cats series of Buffalo brand puzzles, and is 750 pieces. Very cute. 🙂It shows an old fashioned dresser that a lady might have (green antique looking) with make up and jewelry and an oval mirror. There is a tabby cat standing looking into the mirror. It is 750 pieces.

I liked this one a lot, because it was all about spooky things of Halloween! It has a haunted house, monsters of all kinds and ghostly looking things. It is 500 pieces.

We have done this one more than once, and it’s the one we are working on again right now. We’re about 3/4 done with it.
