Sunday – 5:38 to 5:51 p.m.

Here are some of my photos: These are exactly as I took them, no filters or touch ups at all.  As usual the dirt was so thick we couldn’t see across the lake to the houses or the road. If there were cars driving, we sure couldn’t see them. It gets dangerous!

These are some photos people tweeted about our dust storm yesterday. We had hurricane force winds of 77 miles per hour, (123.9 km/h) with blowing dust all day. We’ll have more today but not quite as bad.

I did see a poor Canada Goose trying to fly – it was trying to go straight, but the wind was blowing it sideways. I’ve seen birds before trying to fly in our wind storms. It looks like they are stuck in one spot while flapping their wings because the wind is so strong it won’t let them go forward.

Sandstorm – Weekend Sky #88

Weekend Sky #88 – Feb 18th

***

This is a sky photo & blog I posted on January 30, 2021. It shows how much blowing dust we have around here this time of year.

This past week February 14 & 15, 2023, our sky looked the same. We have these sandstorms quite often, some worse than others, some are actual Haboobs, and those are scary and intense.Visibility on most all our dust storms is low, and the wind is so high we have high wind warnings, like last week for several days.

Today’s weather report: Dust

We are having a sand storm this morning. The sky is brown with all the dust up in the sky. My phone says visibility is only 1,323 YARDS! Expecting wind gusts to 60 mph, too.

This photo is looking out our back door toward the lake, with the barely seen houses on the other side. Sometimes the dust is so thick you can’t see the houses.
