For Fandango’s challenge:
Fandango’s Flashback Friday — June 21st

This is a recap of our summer vacation back in 2018, which I wrote after we got back home.
Back in Town
***
Well, we are back at home, here in town, after our little vacation. It’s fun to go places, but nice to be back home to our regular day to day stuff. Today is a chill out day, getting unpacked, doing laundry, giving Cricket lots of petting and attention, because she’s glad we’re back.
Spent Saturday, through Wednesday in Kansas City, Missouri, visiting our daughter, son-in-law, and grandson. We were busy doing fun things, and going places the whole time.
Family fun included lots of laughing, hugging, talking, & eating, cooking out steaks, and also playing with and petting Maynard Wayne, their dog, and Floyd, their cat. (sadly both are gone now)
We played lots of video games, and several actual board games, including our annual traditional Scrabble board game. I made the huge score of 90, and lost! haha
For sightseeing, we went to the zoo, aquarium, and the National WW1 Museum and Memorial. We also went up to the top of the tower, where we could walk around the top looking at a 360 degree view of Kansas City.

Interesting tidbits…We got drenched with buckets of rain as we left the zoo, and were actually pleasantly refreshed after it being so hot and humid. … I saw an opossum in the yard, and watched lots of fireflies (which we don’t have here), so that was all fun. At the aquarium I wasn’t too scared of the fish, except once when I thought the fish were coming out at me, so I screamed a little. We also got to pet some stingrays as they glided by. Amazing creatures!
Anyway, we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves, and I’m sure I’ll be posting a few more photos here and there when different challenges come up where I can use them, like lots of different flowers, and animals.
Being that there were lots of weather & maintenance delays at the airports, going there and coming back home, we had to stay over an extra day, which was a bonus. They’d taken us to the airport, then had to come back to get us, after we found out we’d not be able to leave until the next day, or spend overnight in the Houston airport. We went back to the house, of course. Then, when we went back to the airport on Wednesday morning, my grandson told us, good-bye…maybe! haha 🙂
Hope you liked hearing about my little get-away. Now, back to normal around here.

Thanks for visiting! Peace ☮️
