Daffodils for March

Daffodils for March

For Terri’s challenge: here

***

Usually you see yellow daffodils, but this one is white, with yellow accents.

***

These are some daffodils I grew in the front flower bed one year. They came up year after year, but haven’t done so any more. Do you see our kitty peeking around the corner? 🙂

***

Daffodils are the flowers of March.

Flowers always make people better, happier and more helpful; they are sunshine, food and medicine to the soul.  ~Luther Burbank, botanist (1849-1926)

Here are some pretty yellow daffodils.

There was a kitty named Meower

Who refused to take a shower

When it was time for a bath

You’d feel his wrath

With his claws out he scratched with power.

Flower of the Day – Tulips

Many years ago I grew some tulips in the front flower bed. They turned out to be all red, except one yellow one. Our cat Paolo was standing on the sidewalk beside them.

FOWC With Fandango — Dragon

***

The prompt word to use is ‘Dragon’. I don’t have a picture of a real one, but I have this wall decoration of a dragonfly! 🙂 Next time I see a real one I’ll try to get a photo. A funny thing happened one summer day. We saw the cats outside leaping and jumping all crazy-like, and at first couldn’t figure out why they were acting that way. On closer look, we saw they were trying to catch dragonflies. There were a lot of them flying around that day. It was so funny to watch the cats. 🙂

I like the name of this pretty pink flower.

These are short phrases (or micro fiction) that I wrote years ago.

Subject: Dragon

“Frozen in the Time of Ice”

By the dark of the sun

By the light of the moon

The time of the Dragon

Will manifest soon

Fire and flame – shards of ice

Dragon wakes – will not play nice

I looked up the phrase, ‘Here there be dragons’ to see where it came from, and basically Wiki says this …

note: the phrase ‘here there be dragons’ is thought to have originated by the old time map makers as they drew dragons on uncharted territories, since they did not know what they might find there.

Word of the Day – Costume

Costume

***

I always liked making costumes for our cats and dogs. They were all very patient and didn’t mind trying them on, just long enough for me to take a photo.

This one is of our Russian Blue cat, Paolo. He lived to be 21 years old. We still miss him. Here he is in his King costume of purple. There is a crown hat with pasted on jewels, and a velvet cape with white fake fur trim.

“WHO YA GONNA BE?”

The strong man superhero

The princess and the ghoul

This is the night for frightening

A night to play the fool

Their costumes fun or fanciful

Little beggars come to call

Tricks and treats are all in fun

Happy Halloween to them all

Seven For September #10 – Cat in the Tree

For Becky’s challenge:

The Windy Seven

***

First posted for Squares – Trees in July of 2021.

This is our front yard tree – a fruitless Mulberry. It’s really big, and the leaves turn yellow in the fall. Underneath is a weathered wooden bench our neighbor built for us many years ago.

And this other photo is many years ago when our cat Paolo climbed up there. All the cats around here love the climbing tree. 🙂

The Numbers Game # 13 – Photos From # 134 – Mixed Up Mess

For Judy’s challenge:

Numbers Game #13, Mar 18, 2024

***

This group of photos from file # 134 seems to be a mixed up mess of all kinds of things. Here are some:

Photos show:

  • Glass front door to a deli restaurant here in town
  • Mystery photo (see below for description)
  • Trying to be artsy photo (see below)
  • Snow that came inside under the crack at the bottom of the back door one time
  • My DVD packages of my favorite TV show Roswell (photo got turned on side)
  • My art drawing Zentangle circle in black & white – looks like a circular saw blade with a warped crossword puzzle in the middle
  • Paolo, our Russian Blue kitty from many years ago sitting on bed with a toy

***

Now I’ll try to describe those strange looking photos.

First I have no idea what this is. It was probably an accidental photo. There is a solid red part along the bottom, then a white plastic square thing with slats (a transistor radio?) on the right. Above that is a large black ‘thing ?’ that is shaped plastic and has some slats, too (like a car’s dashboard ?) Oh, beside the white part to the left is a circular black thing – I have no idea! Up in the right corner is what looks to be a reflection of books? automotive parts? Sheesh! This is just a mixed up photo! Take a guess – you might be right!

The next one was me trying to be artsy. I had some of that old film strip from photo negatives like we used to get when having film developed. Well, I shone a light through a frame and it was of my cat Paolo. It was all green, aqua, and red, and the cat was in dark gray. You can see the film edges that are little square cut outs that fit onto the camera spool. I thought it turned out pretty cool. haha

These are the tulips I grew many years ago. They are in our front yard flower bed. There are a lot of red ones and a few yellow ones. Also in the photo is our Russian Blue cat, Paolo. He is on the sidewalk beside a plastic duck decoy. Sadly the tulips are long gone, and Paolo crossed the rainbow bridge long ago, too. The duck decoy is still here, but very old and faded.
