Esther asks … SAVORY OR SWEET

Savory or sweet can’t be beat

Either taste can be a real treat

Example could be candy shaped like a heart

It’s a little bit sweet and a little bit tart

But salty and spicy might be nice

Take your pick and roll the dice

If it becomes too hard to choose

Eat some of both, you cannot lose

And here’s one I wrote back in 2016:

PENNY CANDY

Nostalgic for those days gone by

Candy buying, a hefty load

Yes, on our bikes, off we’d fly

Short stop by our friend’s abode

Take our pennies, no need to cry

Everything’s good on candy store road

When I was a kid, my friends and I would ride our bikes all over the neighborhood. Down at the end of our road was a small store where we’d go to buy penny candy. All the little pieces of candy were only one penny, so we could get quite a lot, if we’d saved up our money. It was always a good day when we all rode down the road to the candy store. 🙂

**The style of poem is called the Harrisham Rhyme. It contains 6 lines, a rhyme scheme of ABABAB, and the last letter of the first word is to be used as the first letter of the second line. Repeat this until 6 lines are reached.
