SOCS – Impress

For Linda’s challenge:

The Friday Reminder and Prompt for #SoCS May 30, 2026

***

Your Friday prompt for Stream of Consciousness Saturday is “impress” Use it as a verb, use it as a noun, use it any way you’d like. Enjoy!

***

I’m not impressed by a whole lot. At moments I think whatever I see or hear about is impressive, but that’s just a thought that passes by. Things people do well yay, that’s pretty cool, and I’m glad you can do that, so I’m momentarily impressed. The big things are more so … such as majestic mountains, the sky full of stars and planets, and unknown universes, those are impressive to  me.

Your Friday prompt for Stream of Consciousness Saturday is “may your…” Use the phrase “may your” in your post. Use it any way you’d like. Have fun!

***

Lots of good wishes for this prompt I’ve seen on posts so far. It’s a good way to start the good thoughts, and I have a few too, but maybe a little different.

  • May your internet not go out like mine did for several hours yesterday.
  • May your person or help you find, be able to come to the rescue to fix it, like my son-in-law yesterday, as he talked the Mr. through how to fix it.
  • May your walking be smooth and not unbalanced by tripping and falling like I did the other day.
  • May your TV shows you like to watch not be cancelled and taken off the air for no reason.
  • May your ideas for dinner/supper be good ones and let everyone agree  on.
  • May your day be better than the one in this song…

Your Friday prompt for Stream of Consciousness Saturday is “sweet.” Use it any way you’d like. Enjoy!

I can’t think of much to say about the prompt ‘sweet’ that hasn’t already been said by me and others. Having diabetes makes it so I can’t eat sugary sweets anymore. I do take a taste once in awhile, but after so many years, a regular dessert is just way too sweet for me. I couldn’t imagine ever eating a whole portion.

So mostly what I’ve been thinking of is this song, and it’s become a favorite of mine to listen to quite often. One of the lyrics says ‘… you’re too sweet for me..’. But it’ about a relationship of two people who are pretty much opposites in the things they like. Still, that phrase fits me and desserts too, as they are too sweet for me.

And another thing I was thinking of is this book:

“Sweet” by Emmy Laybourne, is a book I’ve read a few times. A regular girl goes on a celebrity cruise, meets celebrities, and gets involved in a scandal concerning the weight loss supplement and the awful side effects.

Your Friday prompt for Stream of Consciousness Saturday is “contrast.” Use it any way you’d like. Have fun!

***

Contrast can  be about many things, opposite things, like night and day, up and down, back and forth, sweet and sour, and many more examples. They are fun to think about and list a bunch of them.

When we have a hard time making a decision, (me), you might compare the contrast of pro and con of a situation. Is it good or bad? Should you or shouldn’t you.  It takes me forever to make a decision on anything, then half the time I want to change my mind back and forth.

Anyway, here is a song that does address this problem. It’s a fun one I think.

Neat- O

That’s what we used to say when something was extra good, better than just plain ‘neat’. I still say neat a lot even these days. Or cool, which is another ‘neat’ kind of word. Other ones are groovy, right on, awesome, fantastic, and I’m sure lots more are some describing words.

But the word neat can mean other things. It can be that you dress neat-ly, or you tidy or neaten up your house, or you drink something neat, which I think means without having ice in it.

All that said, I’m not considered neat in any of those ways. I’m messy, I make messes, and I like lots of ice in my drinks of any kind, except for coffee – that needs to be very hot. I can try to do all that, dress neatly, have a try at a neat house, and try not to make messes, but that’s just not me at all. I’m the one who needs 500 napkins at each meal because of making such a mess. Never will I be neat.

Your Friday prompt for Stream of Consciousness Saturday is “life hack.” Use it way you’d like. Enjoy!

***

I like hearing about life hacks that seem to make things easier to do. Maybe we never thought of doing it that way. I’d like to try some, but mostly I can’t remember them more than a few minutes, and never when I might need them.

Why do they call them ‘hacks’. Is it because they chop or ‘hack’ the chore into  pieces, to make it an easier chore?

That’s about all I have for this  prompt.

But … talking about hacking …

The WP bots are back at it again, at least on my blog. The past few days the views are in the thousands. Normally I’m lucky if I get a hundred views and that is a good day. But getting almost 7,000 views today even before I posted anything is off the chart!

I though WP said they blocked spammers and bots. Ho hum … not that I can see. I even got a notice that my blog was doing really really good (however they word it) with so  many views. Umm Hmm right… all fake from bots … sure

Are y’all getting the same? Nothing we can do I guess.

Your Friday prompt for Stream of Consciousness Saturday is “bookmark.” Use as a noun, use it as a verb, use it way you’d like. Have fun!

***

Do you save things to read or listen to on ‘bookmark’ in your computer? I save a lot of things that sound interesting, and sometimes I go back to listen or read them.

Let me tell you what happened.

It’s happened before, too. Somehow, my list of bookmarked things got moved to the right side of my screen. It is usually on the left side, and that’s where we are used to it being so we can find things. But somehow it moved to the right side and is not visible unless we click a deal to show it.

Maybe I messed up something? Or maybe it just spontaneously went over there? I don’t know, but I can’t figure out how to move it back.  Yes, I’ve looked up how to do it. I watched videos how to do it. I still can’t figure it out. Usually the instructions say do this and this and it’s all fixed. Nope, not for me. I can’t even find the place of ‘this and this’ in order to fix it.

I just looked at a past post on bookmarks, and I had complained about the same thing on SOCS on March 21st. Somehow that time they magically appeared back on the left side again on their own. Maybe they will this time, too.

***

I like all kinds of bookmarks for books. They come in all styles and subjects. I got some magnetic ones for Christmas. I have fabric ones, ribbon ones with a charm on it, and lots of plastic coated ones with fun pictures or sayings.

I never messed up a library book by dog earring a corner, but for my own books, I sometimes do. I also flatten the book out (crack the spine) because I don’t like to read in the ditch. Sometimes I use a spring hairclip to hold open the pages, too.

For awhile I made my own bookmarks, and lots of others like these below:

Just one of the  many bookmarks I drew designs on. I put a little  blue ribbon on them and leave them wherever I go for people to find and keep.  This one has the word Peace on it.

Your Friday prompt for Stream of Consciousness Saturday is “hide.” Use it way you’d like. Enjoy!

Today we have the prompt ‘hide’.

Hi – de … Hidy! Hi-d-hi, Hi – d- ho, what to write … I don’t know.

I like to rhyme most all the time

But what can be my very next line, or lime?

Line and time don’t really rhyme, but lime and time does, but makes no sense.

I imagine there will be a lot of people hiding Easter Eggs today or tomorrow for the kids to hunt for. That was always fun for me, then later for my kids.

Except for one year. I was really too old to be egg hunting, but there I was in my new Easter outfit … hat (yes) new shoes (yes) and my cousins and I were out in grandma’s front yard with our baskets looking all over for those hidden eggs.

Now for the awful part. The grown ups told us older kids to let the little kids find most of the eggs, and to give them some of ours. That made us older kids mad. I threw a fit, a regular fit with crying and red face and stomping and all of it.

And ….. my parents had a home movie camera, and were taking a movie of our whole Easter Egg hunt, which of course had me throwing a fit. Forever saved on film… forever … and ever …

Whew!

haha 🙂

I wish everyone who observes Easter Sunday, a lovely day, with no tantrum fits.

The Friday Reminder and Prompt for #SoCS March 28, 2026

***

Your Friday prompt for Stream of Consciousness Saturday is “portrait.” Use it way you’d like. Have fun!

Portrait … I’m thinking this means a formal photo you’ve had made of yourself? I think I’ve had mine done a couple of times. Once when I was a baby, once when I was older. That one was odd because of the paper it was printed out on, sort of rough, and then colorized in. It is kind of sepia and touches of other color. Then there are the school photos. Would they be portraits if they were done for the school yearbook?

I did look up the Wiki definition of a portrait … A portrait is a painting, photograph, sculpture, or other artistic representation of a person, in which the face is always predominant.

We did have our family portrait done once when our girls were little. I didn’t much like them though. I don’t like my picture at any time or any way, so that’s just me and how I am. I don’t go around taking pictures of strangers that I see, either. Once in awhile, but not often. I have lots of family photos just from a camera or on my phone. Not really portraits though. Some are of the pets we’ve had, too.

That’s all I have to say about that. Hope you’re having a wonderful weekend!
