From a Wiki article:
The Maneki–neko (招き猫, lit. ‘beckoning cat’) is a common Japanese figurine which is often believed to bring good luck to the owner. In modern times, they are usually made of ceramic or plastic. The figurine depicts a cat, traditionally a calico Japanese Bobtail, with a paw raised in a Japanese beckoning gesture.
I love these little Maneki-Neko cats. I think this was one we saw at a restaurant one time. They are a symbol for good luck with their paw raised up. We saw them in Japan, and we see them in restaurants, and at airports.

This is a really cute and fun song about a cat.

I saw this very large good fortune cat at a restaurant in Houston’s Bush Intercontinental Airport.
In Japan it is known as Maneki Neko, or the beckoning cat. It is supposed to be waving good luck to it’s owners.
