Let's bless this mess.

In addition to celebrating turkeys (see my previous post below), we FINALLY got to bless Preston. It was a crazy finale to the Thanksgiving weekend, but we were anxious to get it done. Everything went well - he looked super cute in his little stripes and we got a semi-decent family pic of the Doughty side. Thanks to all that could make it at the last minute - it was wonderful to see and catch up with family and friends.

Turkey with a side of ER.

For Turkey Day 07 - we had big plans. The Doughty family came down from Boise, Dave bought us a 26 lb turkey, and we had enough pies to feed all of UT (+ maybe some parts of Idaho). I was very excited to host my first Thanksgiving. What we didn't plan on was a 5 am trip to the Emergency room. I had a severe allergic reaction to who knows what, and woke up at 5 am with hives. Since Dave is on Ambien, (he was of no help), it was mom to the rescue. By the time mom helped locate some Benadryl, my eyes were swollen shut, and my lips were blue and the size of hot dogs, and I was having trouble breathing - definitely time for the ER. A few shots, and a lot of take home meds later we were back at the house by about 7 am. Needless to say, I was out for the day, so mom prepared "my" first Thanksgiving dinner + took care of PG. No words can describe the deliciousness of the dinner or the awesomeness of moms.

What a gorgeous turkey! My still slightly puffy eyes are even more gorgeous.

A special thanks to the Timpanogos Hospital ER and Walgreeens for sacrificing their Turkey Day to help me out.

I'll trade you - Noni for War......

So the time has come. Dave has left the blessed Noni for greener pastures. What pastures could be greener than the Noni? How about Ops Gear in SLC? By their own description they sell "full head-to-toe tactical gear with a focus on Military, Police and Force-on-Force Paintball products". If anyone knows my husband - this is a dream come true. In fact, he called me yesterday just to inform me that he can get a Ghillie suit and a pair of night vision goggles for cost. "Why?" I asked. His reply - "why not?!". I haven't decided yet if I should be concerned.

Anyway - Dave is part of their media department and will be working on their training videos and promotional material. His official start date was Nov. 5th, and so far his only complaint is the commute.

On a sad note - we couldn't leave without saying farewell to those we know and love at the Noni. We had a great time, and made some good friends. That little green fruit will always have a special place in our hearts. RIP.

Houdini

As promised - here's another baby post.

One of the more important things to getting an infant to sleep is swaddling. Its important for so many reasons - but reason #1 for Preston is that he has no control over his arms yet. So if his arms aren't bound in a swaddle - he (and myself) can forget about getting more than 15 min. of sleep. However, PG hates it with a passion. I'm not sure why - all the books and articles I've read say infants love love love it. Sigh.

Needless to say, every nap time its a struggle. PG is all ready for sleep, and then the moment he realizes his arms bound - its WW III. He'll whine, grunt, and wiggle until he's free. He can escape the tightest of swaddles. At 2 am, its not so funny - but this morning it was. This is what I found after he abruptly became quiet - I knew him nodding off in 10 min was too good to be true. Sigh squared......

You can even see fuzzies on his hands from the sock he removed too.

HALLOWEEN - "I wish I knew how to quit you..."

I'd say Halloween 07 was a success. Although we had virtually no trick or treaters (which really bummed me out), we had a few friends over for goodies, and a little guitar hero - and of course costumes.

This year we continued our tradition of blonde/brunette haired duos. We were the cowboys from the film Brokeback Mountain. And although I have yet to see the movie, I think Dave pulls off Jake Gyllie pretty well. I'll leave the comparison between me and Heath Ledger up to the masses.
