Sunrise Stroll

One of my favourite things to do is wake up early, before the rest of my family, quietly get dressed and take an early stroll in hopes of seeing the sunrise. This doesn’t happen often, sadly. Most times, a little one will hear movement within the house and come, rubbing sleep from their eyes, inquiring as to where I am going. On these occasions, I will say just getting the newspaper from the steps and retrieve it and return inside. These are my moments of peace before the day’s chaos rains down upon me. Today, I got to have this moment of peace; what a glorious feeling it was!

Just One Wish

My grandfather would pass on folklore whenever I would take the time to listen. One time, he told me that a wishing well would grant any spoken wish. I would look up at him with curiosity and ask to hear more. He would smile down at me and tell me that water was the home to deities or that the gods had placed them there as a gift. This would bring up even more questions. I can still hear his laughter when think of these memories. He would look at me, ruffle my hair and state “Did you know, curiosity killed the cat?” He would then teach me about how water was often scarce in the early days and that it is the source of life.

Today, I stumbled upon a well and remembered all that my grandfather had told me. I stood for a bit, filled with the memories of sitting with him, haring his folklore and tales. And just for a moment, I toyed with the idea that if I could have just one wish, spoken out loud, it would be more time with my grandfather.

While out walking, I found this adorable little spot with a carefully constructed pond and water pump nestled between two fruit trees. I stopped to fetch a small drink only to notice small ducklings playing in the water. Before I knew it I had lost all track of time as I watched those ducks play. I do not even recall having a drink of water.

Overall Opinion:

I love this outfit; everything from the jacket to the shoes. I had been provided a challenge and required two items from The Secret Store and the minute I saw this jacket I was in love. It reminded me of jackets my grandmother would show me from her youth. I had to have it and put an idea for a look I wanted to create. I still needed one more item though and then the shoes jumped out at me and I finally had the look I was aspiring for. Now hopefully it achieves its goal.

Reflect

After a long day, I needed some quiet time to myself to reflect upon the days events and news I had received. What had started out as a joyful day full of new life and great promise, turned into one that would be remembered for years to come. I will admit, that this outfit took me a little out of my comfort zone and I had to get creative with the top. I paired it with my favourite jeans and strategically did my hair. I wore it around town while I shopped and became comfortable in it. While it is not something I would wear around the children, it is something I would wear alone with my lover.

Leaving behind the Past

I love separates, absolutely without a doubt love separate pieces. Each piece allows for endless possibilities on how to wear it. From pants to skirts this jacket goes with anything that I may feel like pairing it with. What’s even better is the shoe options are endless.

Denim Goes a Long Way

While looking for a causal outfit to wear whenever, I was browsing through Flicker pictures when I came to the Shiny Shabby page. I abandoned my pursuit for the outfit that would become a permanent fixture in my wardrobe and browsed what was now being offered for April.

It was then that the top I was seeking appeared before me and I needed to have it. I could not wait to get to Shiny Shabby to buy Zara Jans by E-Clipse. Now that it is mine, I love it even more than in the picture.
