Come Inside

A month ago, restrictions were lifted on the number of people you could have within your social bubble. While my family accepted the increase and invited our closest friends over, we did not allow them within the house and they did the same when we went over there. Today, social distancing rules change, yet again, to allow people inside of restaurants – not just patios. It has been a topic of discussion on if we will allow people into our homes as rules relax. While some are not allowing visitors into their homes, perhaps our social bubble will be allowed to come inside.

Contemplation

Often, I sit alone and become lost in my thoughts. I wonder about those I have come into contact with in SL and how they are doing. I think about those who have come into my life and hold a deep-rooted place within my heart. I contemplate those who I have let move on, yet grateful that they still remain within my life – while others are no longer there and a hole has been left in their place. I contemplate what my SL will look like, what I will do, and where I will go. I long for family and friends – some old and some new.

I struggle daily with wanting to talk to people, but, also with not wanting to bother them. I spend hours in deep contemplation on if I should reach out and say hello or if I should leave them alone. While I long to talk to others, the idea of bothering them takes over. I wonder how people are doing, what they have been up to, and if we could spend time together. Yet, fear and worry take over and I revert back inside myself, back into deep contemplation. Those closest to me will, in their time, reach out because they understand and know how I do not like to interfere with what they are currently doing.

Often, I sit alone and contemplate my downfalls, my desire to make others happy while sacrificing myself, and the time I want to spend with them. I contemplate if I need to change my views and force myself on others – but that is not who I am, not in SL and not in RL. So alone I will sit in deep contemplation, with a dog nipping my toes and cats running amuck.

Strange Bird

While enjoying the outdoor concert, the attention of one individual was stolen by a noise away from the stage. Curiosity over came her as she wandered the venue seeking the source of the wailing. Finding nothing she made her way back towards the concert only to stumble upon a strange bird perched upon a stump. She wondered if this was the source of the noise, but shook her head slowly attempting to push the thought from her mind; for there was no way the wood carving could speak… yet the strange bird seemed to have a twinkle in its’ eye as if it could read her thoughts.

The path was laid before her, plans set in motion before she understood fully what was happening. She nodded her understanding hearing their conversation as it took place. Slowly she slipped in and out of understanding as she went through the motions. Looking around her, she was unfamiliar with the location and knew she had lost control of the situation as she moved forward, devoid of expectations. There is always one space in the house that women are not invited to venture into, unless it is to bring food and drink (preferably beer or some other manly beverage). A recent redesign of my lovely home resulted in an entire building becoming this such place, the garage. Cars of all shapes of decay reside on the main floor, with hopes of soon seeing the gentle loving repairs that much overdo take place. While above, the man cave is locked away from the unknowing peering eyes of the female species. Today though, I ventured up those stairs in search of an item that I knew I had purchased for the living. Surrounded by shades of grey and black, stood my new red vase.

A simple phrase made up of three words, change one word and the meaning changes drastically. We say this phrase each and every day of our lives to friends and family members, especially to those we care deeply about. Then suddenly within a blink of an eye, we find ourselves change just one word. We turn from those we once used the first phrase on, we shun them; discard them as if they never existed in our world before. We love them one day and without warning we hate them. Often we leave them unaware of what happened, while other times we let them in on the secret. How do we go from loving someone unconditionally with every fiber of our beings to hating them. A simple phrase made up of three words, but change just one and the door closes forever.

Going My Way?

It is in passing we see those who appear familiar to us. Often we walk on by with out notice or acknowledgement that we know who they are. Yet we will wonder why they do not call or say hello back when we pass by. Are we to ashamed to admit we know another, when they are shunned by those around us? Are we to worried that we to will be seen with fault for liking someone that the rest of society deems unworthy? Are we to afraid of our own peer groups, casting us aside when openly admit we know that familiar face we just passed by? No more will I walk by. I will acknowledge you. I will offer a hand. I will ask if you are going my way and offer conversation. No more will I be afraid to admit I know someone just because society says they are different. We never know when we will need the acknowledgement or the offer of a ride, a drink, or conversation. Will you be going my way?

The Strange Wind

I will always remember the warm day when the air felt strange upon my skin, you knew it was going to rain and prepared for it, but you did not know when it would begin. I carried the umbralla in my hand prepared to unfurl it when that first drop touched my skin. As I ventured from the building where once I stood safely from the elements, the wind blew a little harder bringing with it what I thought were strange clouds. Soon I sent the umbrella streaming into the air as I protected my hair from the wind and the looming shower that the clouds carried with them. I was pleasantly surprised when I saw the clouds making faces at me and instead of cold rain drops a delicate aray of hearts were carried down towards me by the strange wind that blew.

Swept up with the Leaves

That time of year is now upon us. The leaves have made their slow migration from hues of green to vibrant reds, yellows, and oranges along with the odd browns here and there. The wind gently tugs on the frail leaves drawing them away from their protect branches. Slowly they drift in the wind to toward the ground or lifted into the air and carried away on the current. Some spiral through the air as if dancing with an invisible partner while others fall to the ground ending their relationship with the tree and wind. Today, I was swept up with the leaves as they danced around in the wind off to new locations before finding their final resting place for the winter.
