The sun had filled the little gully with the first rays of morning, filling the kitchen with a warm natural glow. My mother tiptoed down the stairs in her nightgown, just as she did every morning. Try as she might, the pots still clattered, and the old drawer still banged shut. Several minutes passed and before long, the sweet aroma of muffins would fill the air. My sister and I would yawn and stretch and slowly climb out of bed to see which flavours were made that day for breakfast.

It feels as if it was just yesterday when I was frantically preparing the classroom waiting the arrival of students on the first day of school after a long summer break. Now I stand in the classroom with only ten days remaining. You can feel the energy change within the little space that occupies twenty six little bodies. What began as day filled with fear, worry and wonder of who would be their teacher and if their best friend would be with them for the year, has now been replaced with joy and anticipation for the summers activities. For now, their focus needs to be on class work; something I myself need several reminders of as I catch myself drifting off into daydreams of outdoor adventures.

Waiting

Waiting is often the most difficult thing one has to do. We spend a great deal of our time waiting for something or someone. We spend time waiting on ourselves as well as we go about our lives making decisions that will affect every aspect of our lives. We wait to hear from a loved one, for a piece of mail to arrive, for good or bad news, and we wait for life to show us our path. No matter how much we protest, we are always left waiting on something.

Oh how I love this room, it reminds me of something I would have seen while my parents were growing up at home with their parents. It reminds me of a time when life just seemed simpler. It makes me feel nostalgic as I seek out pieces of furniture from the 70s. Perhaps I am just an old soul seeking the memories of my youth, but I could spend all day in this room imagining what it would have been like to grow up during a simpler time.

Kitchen Made for One

When you live alone, small means nothing to you. Huge houses are hard to fill with clutter when it is just you living there. Small houses though take on a different life when you are single. My kitchen is small and perfect and filled with the essentials. While my table may only have one chair it is filled with character. There may be more clutter then cupboards or counters it is filled with the sweet aroma of home cooking. Sure a large kitchen would be perfect to have, but since I am only one, my kitchen is perfect for me.

I often just sit outside to close my eyes and allow nature to take hold of my senses. My daily life is extremely busy with very little down time and my senses become over stimulated. I do not get a lot of outdoor time to enjoy the world around me during the winter because it cold and I am not a fan of the cold or snow. I did take some time to enjoy the some what warmer day outside and mull over some things that have been troubling me as of late. While I did not come up with a solution, I did enjoy the little amount of time I spent outdoors and the clarity I got as my heavy thoughts were somewhat lifted; even if it was just for a few moments.

Overall Opinion:

I have recently discovered a love for scarves. I use to just wear them in the winter to keep my face warm and now I find I wear them as accessories. I love everything about this outfit from BlackRose. The sweater is warm and comfortable, perfect for those days when you can go without a coat. The jeans are perfectly ripped showing that are well loved (they have also become a favourite of mine). As for the scarf it adds the perfect amount of red to any outfit. As for my boots, these are super cute and playful and will be worn lots.

The Browser Not The Shopper

A new month brings new rounds of several events around the grid. Many of these events are my favourite and their start dates are marked on my little calendar. I have missed a few rounds lately and often just go and make a wish list of things I will have to see if they are in store later. I am more of a browser then a shopper. I will go and look and wish in had something, but rarely do I buy.

Overall Opinion:

I am not sure if this was meant to be a separate set or together, but I absolutely love how they look together. While I would not wear this to work, it is perfect for relaxing at home or with friend’s and family out to dinner. I like that both the skirt and top come in a variety of colours that are sure to please everyone. The jewelry pieces are never a disappointment and also come in a variety of colours that you can change with the hud. As for the shoes they are gorgeous and go well with any outfit and yes they come in a variety of colours as well (pretty sure I own them all now).
