Timpanogos Cave Camping Trip

We had lots of fun on our camping trip this weekend. Although not everything went as planned.

We got to Timpanogos National Park and they had a sign out that said camp grounds full. The guy said we could go up anyway and see. We drove up very discouraged but we talked to the camp host and there were quite a few sites open. We were so glad! We started a fire and ate some smores and just played around.

That night it started to rain. It rain so hard! Qwin did not sleep good at all (so neither did Jeff and I). All day we stayed in the trailer and watched a movie, played games, drew pictures and took naps. That night Qwin couldn’t sleep. I went outside to grab the milk out of the cooler and noticed that the cooler was open and eggs were all over the ground. I got scared and ran back inside. I told Jeff that something got into our cooler and I was thinking it was either a raccoon or a bear. Jeff grabbed a kitchen knife and went out to take a look. He cleaned up all the mess and told me it was just a raccoon. He is so brave!

The next day was starting out to be perfect! The sun was shinning and we were getting ready to hike up to Timanogos Cave. Well we all started getting into the car and Jeff says he can’t find the keys. If anyone knows Jeff, you know that he is very forgetful and loses stuff all the time! Well we searched and searched. We tore apart the trailer 3 times and we found nothing. I started getting really worry at this point because we had no phone signal and the closest we could get to a phone was about 10 miles. I was even more freaked out because we don’t have a spare key to the MDX! Finally in my last attempt I checked the back of the car in a first aid kit that I saw Jeff messing with right before he lost the key. Ta DA! Jeff had put the keys in the kit and zipped it up.

The hike was fun and hard. Jeff carried Qwin on his back and we walked slowly up the trail. It was very steep but the kids did awesome! The cave was neat. Sienna was a little scared at first but later she said it was really cool. Qwin was really tired during the tour and was a little grumpy but she did pretty good. After the hike we drove home and here we are.

In the House

I talked Jeff into bringing the table in the house. I think it is so cute. I still need to get a knob for it but I just wanted to post some pictures of it inside.June 2011 005June 2011 007June 2011 013

Table is almost done!!

The table I started is almost done! I decided to go for yellow. I saw this color and loved it. So far I love this side table. It was super easy too because I didn’t have to do much sanding. I used a dark brown stain for the edges to give it an older look. I love it, what do you think?May 2011 Yard-table 021May 2011 Yard-table 020Next is to find a finish. I want something flat, so I have to go buy it. I also am going to get a knob, probably in antique bronze.

Being Creative

I really love being creative. As some of you know I have been busy doing some furniture projects, which I love to do. I just got a new little side table that I am going to do. I am really excited. I decided I will post on the progress of the table and so you all can see the process and fun I have. I am going to go take some pictures of the table now, for my before pics. Check back soon for the post!

MOAB

We went to Moab this last weekend with some of our friends and had so much FUN! Sorry the Pictures are so random. I tried putting some on that weren't on Facebook.
We left on Friday afternoon and didn't get to Moab until about 7:00. We had a few car troubles (the Transmission fluid was getting hot?) but we made it there ok. Corey & Becky drove down with us with their little boy. Landon and Kim with their little girl went down earlier and stayed in a hotel.
We first stopped at the sand hill. We climbed up it and ran or jumped down. It was actually quite fun. The kids loved it!
After that we drove around for a few hours trying to find a camping spot. I though we were never going to find anything. Landon found a spot for us and we were so happy.  We recently got a camp trailer and got to take that this trip which was so fun. We loved it.

You can see the parachute guy if you look closely.

The next day we went on a hike that was right by our campsite. This was an amazing hike! We saw a lot of beautiful sites. At the end of the hike we got to see a large arch. People were repelling down it and we watched them for a while. Logan had a little parachute man and Jeff asked the people if they would drop it from the arch. They said they would and they did it! It was kind of cool seeing it parachute down off of the arch. Everyone around stopped and watched it.

After the hike we all got ready and went to Landon and Kims hotel pool. We thought it would be nice to get in after the long hot hike but when we got there the clouds came in and it was a little chilly. The kids had fun in the hot tub though.
That night we all went to dinner at the Moab Diner. Yummy! We all loved it. We also got ice cream!

The next day was Sunday and we woke up to a lot of rain and wind. We all piled up in the trailer and watched movies and ate a yummy breakfast. We tried listening to G. Conference but we couldn't get service where we were at the campsite. So we drove over and checked out a waterfall.

(Ok I can't put pictures with the appropriate text anymore so Whatever! This is why I hate to Blog! Lindsay you need to teach me how to do this so I dont' go crazy because I know this can't be right because no one would blog if it was!!!)

We also go to go see some dinosaur tracks! It was kind of cool. Jeff and the kids hiked up to get a closer look and took some pics. The picture with Sienna and Logan and the rock is the tracks.

I got to do a little dutch oven cooking while we were there. I made potatoes and BBQ chicken. Becky also made a dutch oven dessert which was so good. The kids loved to hang out at the campsite and play in the sand and dirt.

The next day Corey and Becky left and our little family decided to go on what we thought was a little hike. It ended up being 4 1/2 miles round trip. We hiked on a trail in Negro Bill Canyon. The kids were real troopers though! It was very long and tiring. We hiked to a bridge that was pretty cool but I don't know if the long hike was worth it or not.. We got some pretty cool pictures
Some other cool things we did while we were there were:
Flew a kite that we lost over a canyon because it got to high and the line broke.
Played at a park
Played card games in the trailer.
Roasted hot dogs and sat by a fire
Tossed rocks in the river.
Drove around and looked at some cool sites.
Shopped at the places in town.
