Believe.

The Robert F. Kennedy Human Rights Center announced the recipient of their 2025 Ripple of Hope Award ...
a shining example of how speaking truth to power, boldly, wisely, and with heart, can ignite change and send ripples of hope far beyond the stage.
In other news, on this day in 1945, American soldiers liberated the Buchenwald concentration camp in Germany, on which Edward R. Murrow reported ...
I pray you to believe what I have said about Buchenwald. I have reported what I saw, but only part of it. For most of it, I have no words. If I’ve offended you by this rather mild account of Buchenwald, I’m not the least sorry. I was there.

Courage.

COURAGE.

DO NOT TAKE COUNSEL OF YOUR FEARS.

Window.

Francis "Jeep" Sanza was drafted into the U.S. Army in the spring of 1941. Due to his mechanical prowess the army put him into the 3457th Ordnance Medium Auto Maintenance Company, where he began driving the tough new Willys MB 1/4-ton reconnaissance vehicles, later to be simply called the "Jeep".

Sanza was eventually chosen to be the personal driver and mechanic for General George S. Patton, one of the most important and revered generals of the Second World War.

Sanza's unique position gave him a window into the mind of one of the greatest strategists in modern military history, as he drove Patton across France and into Germany.

Style.

Too bad jousting's gone out of style.  It's like your poetry, General -- it isn't part of the twentieth century ...

Audacious.

On this day in 1944, General George S. Patton employs an audacious strategy to relieve the besieged Allied defenders of Bastogne, Belgium, during the brutal Battle of the Bulge. Employing a complex and quick-witted strategy wherein he literally wheeled his 3rd Army a sharp 90 degrees in a counterthrust movement, Patton broke through the German lines and entered Bastogne, relieving the valiant defenders and ultimately pushing the Germans east across the Rhine.

Great.

Narrated by Ronald Reagan, The Big Picture, a 1960 production of the United States Army, profiles one of the great generals of the 20th Century -- George S. Patton ...
Struggle was the test of a man.

Thanks, Tim.

Thank.

It is foolish and wrong to mourn the men who died. Rather we should thank God that such men lived.

Letter of Instruction

Command
         Leadership

  1. Full Duty:  Each, in all his appropriate sphere, will lead in person.  Any commander who    fails to obtain his objective, who is not dead or severely wounded, has not done his full duty.
  2. Visits to the Front:  The Commanding General or his Chief of Staff should visit the front daily.
  3. Execution:  In carrying out a mission, the promulgation of the order represents not over ten percent of your responsibility.  The remaining ninety percent consists of proper and vigorous execution.
  4. Rest Periods:  Staff personnel who do not rest, do not last.
  5. Location of Command Posts:  The farther forward the Command Posts, the less time is wasted in driving to and from the front.
  6. Plans:  Plans must be simple and flexible.  They should be made by people who are going to execute them.
  7. Reconnaissance:  You can never have too much
  8. Keep Troops Informed:  Use every means available before, during and after battle.  Information is like eggs: the fresher the better.
  9. Decorations:  Decorations are for the purpose of raising the fighting value of the troops; therefore, they must be awarded promptly.
  10.  Discipline:  There is only one kind of discipline - PERFECT DISCIPLINE.  If you do not enforce and maintain discipline, you are potential murderers.  You must set the example.
COURAGE:  DO NOT TAKE COUNSEL OF YOUR FEARS.

Excellent.

An excellent book ...

C-SPAN features Kevin Hymel, who shows photographs taken by General George S. Patton, Jr. during World War II which he first presented in this book Patton’s Photographs: The War As He Saw It. Mr. Hymel had discovered them in the Library of Congress were they had been donated by Patton’s family in the early 1990s ... HERE.
